This is too cool, i had no idead they were interviewing Rutledge while he was following me. at 2:00 in you can see the back of the truck. Got to talk to him later about the truck, was one of those people you could hang out with no problem.
I actually know where one of these vans is sitting literally a mile from my house. Its been left there for a long, long time. sitting in front of an old 1 car garage thats held together with ratchet straps. Never realised it was aluminum bodied, that would explain why its in such good shape
What is the wheel base and tires and rim size please !! Mine is a 1950 Ford bread mile van mounting 1989 corvette suspension kit from , Flat out engineering have a 454 t400 gearvender !
That's a van I'd drive. Gotta love driving with the the sliding doors open- who needs a/c? Reminded me of on of my first jobs delivering newspaper bundles out of a '74 GMC step van.
does anybody know whether there were videos on the chassis swap? - would love to have that technical backdrop as to how this was done as i would like to build one - thanks
Elana, that hot rod T shirt has never looked better than it does when you are wearing it. Rutledge, where is that beautiful wagon you bought a few years back? That would be the perfect power tour family car instead of that hideous box you are in now. That thing was never meant to be driven faster than 45 mph and even a low speed accident could be a disaster for all inside it.I want the engine out of it when you are done with it and come to your senses!LOL!
I like the patina, but some nice aluminum primer and a coat of House of color custom green sure would be nice.Love the LS,but a turbo diesel,25 mpg would be cool, run two chrome stacks.
Usually the people on these vids don't bother to answer a question, but I'll try anyway: My dad had one, a lunch truck, back in '55. I know where there's another. The windshield curved corner glass is not available, did you use Plexiglas?
guy on ebay sells plexiglass versions. I took my delaminating glass from my 56 directly to a PPG district manager. he pointed me to a shop in Oklahoma that does custom bending
that looks like fun. i dig the stripped down interior. i'd drive it daily except parking must b a bitch. what an awesome car for family vacations, though.
rut, tanner and adam are my fav top gear presenters except hammond, may and clarkson obviously, the us show isnt bad as most of you guys seem to think and im from the uk..
Thank you! People make the U.S Top Gear out to be a shitty version of the U.K. its really not, it tried to be but they changed the format and made it a generally good funny show. it was never meant to replace the U.K Top Gear and i think people hinged on it being the exact same.
im from the uk and i like the US version, i prefer the UK version obviously but the US isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be, although some of the challenges that they do are copies off the UK version, its still a good laugh though!
What sucks (for me) is that most of the "challenges" that the US version does are challenges that Top Gear UK has already done in a previous episode so it gets a little lame. But I do like the ones that haven't been done already.
On the van the wheel base please ! Why I ask I have a 1953 ford bread van 132.in wheel base front clipped 87 c20 and rear is 69 c20 trailing arms 454 t400 gear vender 14 bolt diff saving to put 20x10 back 20x8 front rims and tires
Rut is awesome. To tell the truth he was my least favorite TG:US guy when I first saw the show, but after a few shows he grew on me and became the show. He is a real car guy and it just took him a while to loosen up. Rad van Rut.
It's a van from the 1950s?, Seat belts are only a small part of keeping someone safe in a crash. No airbags, no modern crumble zone, no real structural integrity.. this thing would be a tin can in any kind of road accident.
Fucking Bad ASS Van please do another video on it!!! I love being different!!
I have the same truck as my toyhauler camper for the weekends its a great ride
My Dad had one of these for his Frito-Lay delivery route. This brought back a lot of good memories riding in that truck.
This is too cool, i had no idead they were interviewing Rutledge while he was following me. at 2:00 in you can see the back of the truck. Got to talk to him later about the truck, was one of those people you could hang out with no problem.
That van is the shit! Can't wait to see the wagon
Cool truck man love both your guys show good work guys keep it up and hi from New Zealand, come on down and rescue some of these cool cars down here
Elana is beautiful, a princess !!
That would make a bad ass motor home!!!!!
Please show me more I love it
This is just awesome all around!
Cool van! Regards from Portugal.
Never thought I'd see these two together.
He always comes across as a super nice guy.
can't beat the open door a/c!
I actually know where one of these vans is sitting literally a mile from my house. Its been left there for a long, long time. sitting in front of an old 1 car garage thats held together with ratchet straps. Never realised it was aluminum bodied, that would explain why its in such good shape
scrap? lol
Hell I'd drop a 454 in it and use it as a tow rig and bike hauler
maybe if you upgraded everything under it like he did.
+yamahondarider i have the same van in my backyard still today on a ford chassis
OK, I'll bite, where is it? I wanna come get it? Poolheatsean Gmail
This Needs it's own dedicated RoadKill/AmTopGear mash up episode.
Looks like it could have been made yesterday. Truely timeless
Wow didn't know Rut had it in him. That is a sweet and clever ride.
What is the wheel base and tires and rim size please !! Mine is a 1950 Ford bread mile van mounting 1989 corvette suspension kit from , Flat out engineering have a 454 t400 gearvender !
I definitely want one!

Rut is the man!
Was his ride in crown point,in?
Elana, that hot rod T shirt has never looked better than it does when you are wearing it.

that is awesome
can someone tell me which chassis he is using,
So is this van fast? How does it sound?
Usually the people on these vids don't bother to answer a question, but I'll try anyway: My dad had one, a lunch truck, back in '55. I know where there's another. The windshield curved corner glass is not available, did you use Plexiglas?

Top Gear US is still on the air?
No, it should be
i have the same van!!!!
Still got it???
rut, tanner and adam are my fav top gear presenters except hammond, may and clarkson obviously, the us show isnt bad as most of you guys seem to think and im from the uk..

Ditto, it's good to see the US angle and of course the US tin!
im from the uk and i like the US version, i prefer the UK version obviously but the US isnt as bad as everyone makes it out to be, although some of the challenges that they do are copies off the UK version, its still a good laugh though!

I actually prefer the original format myself, especially from a journalism point of view.
Hey I have a 63 GMC version I'm getting ready to do. Where did you find the front corner glass?
Look on ebay. theres a guy from texas selling plexiglass versions: i have a 56 and had to replace mine. They were $150. glass shop wanted $487.
If I had the cash to blow on something like this, I'd have the whole body engine turned because it looks cool.
Nice!!
Like the van, but I've always wanted to something smaller, a Grumman LLV.
top gear and roadkiill how cool is that
On the van the wheel base please ! Why I ask I have a 1953 ford bread van 132.in wheel base front clipped 87 c20 and rear is 69 c20 trailing arms 454 t400 gear vender 14 bolt diff saving to put 20x10 back 20x8 front rims and tires
Honestly, I hope Tanner Foust can appreciate this.
but can it do burn outs?
Rut is awesome. To tell the truth he was my least favorite TG:US guy when I first saw the show, but after a few shows he grew on me and became the show. He is a real car guy and it just took him a while to loosen up.
Rad van Rut.
thats KOOL i want it !!!!!!!!! please show more
Why don't they show this on TGUS? And i agree. It's not a bad show at all. They've got a lot better and the shows are far more entertaining too!
Cheap.... awe come on. Only 3 mins:-( Haha Rut is awesome. That truck looks the business. Show more please!
cut the cheesey music out next time
Top Gear US is cool ;)
I always thought of Rutledge Wood as more of a Volvo Turbo, hipster type. Who would have thought, a van with an LS motor.........hmmmm.
what changes to motor cover
Very cool! Do WANT!!! :))
Come get some ice cream. :)
so thats what the Bearded Lady drives when he's not on Top Gear
nice looking beard haha XD
I'm not gonna lie...Rutledge is the ONLY reason I like top gear USA
Do want.
I want this truck , i would give up my visa to be in this country for this truck ....
It looks kinda cool, but there's no way I'd take my family anywhere in that thing.. it's a fucking death trap
What makes it a death trap? It has seat belts and doors. He just thinks it's cooler to drive with the doors open like an idiot.
It's a van from the 1950s?, Seat belts are only a small part of keeping someone safe in a crash. No airbags, no modern crumble zone, no real structural integrity.. this thing would be a tin can in any kind of road accident.
Oh geez, every car from the 50's to the 70's is a death trap in that case.
Yes, that's correct. It's why I said I wouldn't take my family in one of them. Not on freeways etc.
Then you are no hot rodder ya big soppy vagina. Go look at some cooking vids.
The lady in the beginning of video is a babe!!
Cool but less music please
When guests talk, fade out the music! Too much going on at once.
Shut up Adam just likes to joke around
