From the amazing Robert E Howard Conan story 'Beyond the Black River'....that hound...Conans last words in the tavern...about as Metal baddass as its humanly possible to be....'Upon hearing of the fight, Conan vowed to take the heads of ten Picts to pay for Balthus' sacrifice, along with seven heads for the dog, who was "a better warrior than many a man."
Actually, its a bout a Conan story. Conan and a man while he is trying to save a village. They have to split ways, and The man and his hound make a glorious last stand with his dog against an army of picts. He and the hound hold long enough for the villagers to evacuate. fucking OOZING manly.
These guys opened for "Clutch" a few years ago and they rocked my face off!...Who knew dudes in bell-bottoms and electric axes could kick so much ass?!
Great peril awaits us Beyond the black river Summoned by the beating of drums Our number is few Our errand is dire We do what must be done Hair rises on the back of my neck at that part
Just fantastic!!!.Loved this when I first heard it and bought bthe album.Makes me think of " Ride The Lightning " era Metallica ".Incidentally I saw Metallica on that tour...
@Arenow I'm glad someone else understands that. This is slow, they bring out the falsetto vocals, and feels like it is so much less than the actual version.
This song would have been soooo huge on the 80's i bet you even girls these days would have theyre shirts like they wear rolling stones shirt haha man hip hop you dedtroyed real art!!!
this shit is just as epic as like master of puppets or something, just a nod to how the world is today 25 years ago metallica got boosted in superstardom by shit like this, now a days people dnt even pay attention, god damnit fuck em more good musi for the true metalheads!!!!
the song is about the river styx in which souls cross in the passage to the afterlife. it also about the ferry man which you have to pay, otherwise your soul would be lost for eternity... thus tradition dictates that you have leave two coins over a persons eyes when they die to pay the ferry man to take them to the afterlife. The more you know *crappy ass in the background

One of my favorite tales. Although I'm partial to his tales as a general in war.
I could listen to this song a million times and never get tired of it
A billion.
It really sucks how no one knows this band. They are truely underrated!

I think I can officially say this is my favorite metal song.
These guys opened for "Clutch" a few years ago and they rocked my face off!...Who knew dudes in bell-bottoms and electric axes could kick so much ass?!
I love these boys reminds me of COC and Sabbath with a little bit of fireball ministry throwed in on it
Great peril awaits us
Beyond the black river
Summoned by the beating of drums
Our number is few
Our errand is dire
We do what must be done
Hair rises on the back of my neck at that part
It is the soundtrack of an era
Heaviest well done song to come out in many years! Ass kickin' head poundin' in your face, metal!!

"How high are you?"
"Yes."

This is the single song that makes me want to learn drums.
theres two versions of this song and this ones alot more raw, probably a demo. the other one is 5:53 and cleaner.
Totally. There is more reverb on the vocals here and it's deffo slower.
yeah first commenter!
wow this song isn't just played. its played like a boss.
This is great!
@665AlmostEvil100 Friggin right man. Hell yeah.
I think this song's about my favorite Conan story. Which can only make it better.
Yeah!!! Metal like its meant to be.....
Reminds me of the roots of heavy metal... Black Sabbath!
@ColeEgner21 this band would probably be huge if it where the 80's but todays pop and rap keeps great metal from being eaven noticed
nice
no, the last bit is about the Styx, and that's not why they put coins over the eyes, either. The other poster is right, it's a Conan story.
Fucking Epic!
If black sabbath and deep purple had a baby while watching Masters of the universe.
Ooooooh yeeeaaaahhh
Crom!
i like
This is the soundtrack to Dirty Harry and the Terminator fighting to the death/termination.
This song would have been soooo huge on the 80's i bet you even girls these days would have theyre shirts like they wear rolling stones shirt haha man hip hop you dedtroyed real art!!!
@665AlmostEvil100 Fuck yeah
i have a new favorite stoner/doom metal band
@michaelliber and it´s not only you^^
Like Pentagram on steroids
These guys are like an American Black Sabbath.
@rickmcdonalled
Yes it is
Correct. Also a footnote, a 70s and 80s rock band named themselves after the river Styx. Great band in their day, too. Not metal but great music.

What version is this?
doesn't this song sound different on Guitar Hero?
Where is this version from? It's different than my CD-version.
6,876 views? thats pitiful, there should be a few more zeros on that shit
these guys pick up where metallica lost it late '80's
This is pitched up or something. And the solo is kind of off. Weird. Maybe that's an earlier version or something.
+Dominic Sauvé this is the best version
He's also his own dad or something, isn't he? I dunno, they just make that crap up as they go along.
Live version is better, its 6-10 bpm faster and still the same amazing tone. Still a good version
lulz XD :P :) :/ :(
i've found the one who pushed the ''i dislike this'' button, owned
insert clever comment about the amount of dislikes...
Can the top rated comments be any less cheesy.
@1stgenracer Sadly, the comments are never really clever. Just annoying, i.e., @mistarPrickle.
hah, the top comments are lame
This band sounds alot like Metallica! They're awesome!
Mary's his mom lol, not that any of that shit is real anyway though.
Who was brought here by Guitar Hero Metallica? :D
This song kicks so much ass it's not even funny.
they are fucking awful live though sadly.
