I have had my “Litl’ Blue” 2017 BMW i3 BEV 33Kw 94Ah since 01/25/2021. I bought it in showroom condition from an original owner with 24k on the odometer. I’m 75, drive it about 30-100 miles a month mostly to pick up online ordered groceries and to visit the VA clinic. I use a 240V, 16A (3.84Kw) Level 2 charger in my carport routed inside as an alternate to my dryer outlet. I get 13.5 miles per hour of charging and at home my FPL electric cost at $0.031 per Mile. If there is a more perfect EV out there, I simply don’t want it. I don’t need more range, acceleration, styling, features, reliability, comfort, handling, or value. Litl Blue is obviously my Forever Car. Paid $16,500 but was offered $24,000 by Edmunds 3 months ago which tickled my worn out ego.

It's as good as a Prius
Just a tip 💡 did you know you can replace the cupholder underneath the armrest to the front of the midconsole?! There are three points you can place the cupholder (you can even place two next to each other) You have to pull the midconsole cupholder in a upward movement pretty hard, but it allows you to have so much more space under the armrest! 👍🏽

@@thatevchick Nice, I took me a while before I noticed! I have a 2020 i3 since last October (Black Shadow edition) and never regret the switch to EV. With the crazy gasoline prices over here (Netherlands) only a fool would buy a regular car! Since last weekend the price for a liter euro 95 fuel is € 2,20 ($ 2.40) with a full tank you’ll get set back for at least € 88,- !!! While I charge the car for around €10,- (280 km range).

I feel like I am spoiled with socal for EVS. Chargers every where, it doesn't really get cold
I just got myself a model y and it is insssaaaneeee I could never see myself going back.
I have 4 cup holders 3 in the front and one under the armrest the arm rest one is 3D printed :)

I’m an owner of a 2018 i3 ReX; the BMW service center in Irvine wanted $950+ to change my 12volt battery. Talked them down to 750 but otherwise I’d take it home and change it myself. But tow charges (150) BMW service would charge me 225 for diagnosing the problem (that charge is taken off if you do the service with them) cost of battery 175, cost Odb reader Foxwell 150 to register battery with the car all add up almost the same as letting BMW service do it. Don’t get me wrong… I absolutely love my i3 but I will certainly buy the Odb reader for future use.

Would you buy this car for 20k?
I paid more than 20k for my 2018 rex last Feb 2022. It was just in time before the gas price hike. Never regretted selling my Fiat for this. Although the charging can be a hassle (locating and taking about 20mins) if I need to drive far sometimes but its worth it for me. Love it! 😄😍

I have the exact same i3! You need to get Bimmercode to make program the mirrors to automatically fold in when you turn the car off -- amongst other things.

This would be a GREAT door dashing car. I am curious what the new ev m4 is going too be like.
I drive that car as an 120ah without range extender. I love it and love not to have to got to the fuel station 😁 for me this car is just perfect. Thank you for your information. Greetings from switzerland.
Hello! Oh great. Yes, not going to the gas station is amazing. I only had to use the extender a couple of times. Overall, this was a GREAT car and I am sad to see it leave

Bought a 2014 i3 REx last year and am liking every feature of this car, even those features like suicide doors that might be a nuisance to some reviewers. Not only that, the battery even held up great during our harsh winter in Toronto early this year! Oh, guess what, I even got the same i3 die-cast model as yours 😄! Anyway, thanks for the great review!
Glad you liked it and i am not the only crazy person getting toy versions of their cars! I am so happy I sold mine to my family and I still get to see it. I would have totally kept it if I didn't need money for taxes =D

@@thatevchick Yes, the smaller package not only turns around effortlessly in any tight spots, it leaves a lot of room behind the car when I park it in my garage so I can pile up more junk in that extra room I now have, unlike my other 2 behemoth SUVs, haha!

It is not all wheel drive - so I am sure it is okay but not great.
Be careful downhill, as recuperation will act like you pull the hand brake. I set it to Neutral and use the friction breaks, which go front and rear, when it’s slippery downhill.

Under 20K for a 2017 model is now a days kind of impossible to find. Maybe a older 60ah model.
Totally. So I got this used RIGHT before the pandemic and price increase. I lucked out.
It's a decent EV but the cost of the tire replacement is gonna be costly if any puncture or damage. They chose a very limited unique wheel and tire size that's gonna be pricey.
Yup, mine was about 1,200 to replace. I am sure replacing the tires on my Tesla will be similar.
I got mine last year for $14k plus there's a $4000 tax reduction on used EV. So $10k for a beemer! Heck ya

I’m trying to decide on one now - there’s one here in Atlanta for $12,500 - it’s a 2017 BEV but it has the shortest range battery 60Ah. The dealer site says range is 110 miles. My daily commute won’t be anywhere close to needing that range & I have an Outback as a 2nd car so I hope if I take this leap I can get over range anxiety fast & start using this car most of the time! I’m just terrified of unexpected costs but the sales price makes it hard to pass up. It’s also the brown leather which I like way more than the gray cloth. How are insurance rates? Seems like EVs cost a bit more…?

Sorry I never responded I might get the i3 120 if you aren;'t going to be driving far and you don't think you'll get stuck - the REX is a nice just in case but I rarely used it in this one

Sorry for getting back to you so late. I had a really rough two years but I am going to bring this channel back. I have another fitness channel that I was doing and it’s kind of awesome interest in it. I have always thought of buying a electric car, but it is the convenience of going to a gas pump and just filling up.
Awesome. They are super cool! If you can charge at home you just plug it in like you would charge your phone overnight and you don't even half to think of it .

There is also something awesome about free power at the supermarket, movies and shopping.
To me these make much more sense than a plug in hybrid

Agree to most of your statements. Doesn’t that extra cupholder fit onto the front one, ours does so we have two in front. Our car is from 2014 and still looks and drives like a new car. We love it.

Interesting you ask! This Model does and after 2017 in the US you had to have one. The models before 2018 it's an add on so they all don't have them.

Smooth car. What is general maintenance $$$ like?
It was used what I got it, I had it four a couple of years. The only maintaince I had to d was get an auxiliary battery for 100 something. Because this has a range extender you also need an oil change but quite infrequent.y
If you hold down the lock button, your mirrors will go inwards too!

Yes that is a PHENOMINAL idea. I was going to take my favorite chargers around town and see how easy it is to get a spot.

1:43 I downloaded the Beemer app and purchased the OBD port unit. I bypassed the govern and can use the gas at 70% battery. It HOLDS the charge at that range.
So how much does a lapel mic cost anyway. Must be really expensive... Am i supposed to subscribe because of the tats and the tight jeans?
I made this for fun a few years ago, I have equipment now and will be making higher quality content .

The cup holder is moveable. There are holes in front of the cup holder to insert it

I didn’t even know the cup holder could go in the center storage. I got mine with it up in the front.
P.S. I think the doors are clamshell doors since true suicide doors don’t require the front doors to be opened. Clamshell doors do.
