Petra Burka and Peggy Flemming are the first skaters I remember watching on tv. I was 8 years old 😊 Wonderfull to see this again after so many years. Thank you so much for this and for all your other uploads, espescially Janet Lynn, Toller Cranston and John Curry ❤❤❤
What a treat that you found this. I don't remember watching on Wide World of Sports. I really started my vivid memories of figure skating while watching Peggy Fleming in Grenoble in that chartreuse outfit. Thank you for sharing this classic.
Her Dad died Apr 6,1966.I saw the Davos rink area in Nov of 2001.The water hadn't been poured yet for the ice. This was around Thanksgiving. The lovely dress was made by her Mother. The thing is the audience in Grenoble didn't seem to understand the color and the meaning of it.I'm sure most were foreigners.
Excellent footage. Must have been one of the very last championships to be held outdoors. Arnold Gerschwiler used to take his skaters from Richmond to Davos every winter to train for a short while, something that John Curry detested!

Moreso than other clips of her competitive routines, this footage really demonstrates the power, athleticism, and particularly, the speed of Peggy's skating.
She used the same exact music and most of the same choreography 2 years later for the 1968 world championships then the Olympics. Did Peggy just do this one program lolol
as @tomothyhh rightly states, this was normal back then, although she did skate a different free program at the 1967 Nationals but this had been ditched by the time she got to Vienna for the Worlds that year.
Wow, the picture and sound quality on the second source. I love that you can hear the audience during her skate.

Thanks for posting this. Very impressive. Beautiful in its simplicity
Exactly! ...lacking in today's skating. Non multa sed multum.

1967 Worlds in Vienna was the last to be held completely outdoors.
@@floskate I thought Peggy was inside when she fell at those worlds
@@metsdudenj no the Vienna rink was outdoors.

Quality…..❤
That is awesome! I may have seen this if it was on Wide World of Sports (Bless them). Thank you so much for bringing it to us again now.
Even then Peggy Fleming had such beautiful elegance and grace. Thank you Floskate. This was great!

How would this performance score in today's CoP? I saw some really cool stuff that was popularized later, like Peggy's reverse spiral position. 😮
Melhor, de fato❤
In Europe, the called her the “soft doe.”

She used it 66, 67 and 68. Not uncommon for skaters at that time to keep the same program or at least some of the same music cuts for years.
I believe Gabriele "Gaby" Seyfert did the same choreography & used the same music @ the 1968,69 & 70 worlds & 68 Olympics.
It's called the Viktor Petrenko Rule, I believe!

Peggy used the same LP from 66-68 ?
She had a different one at 1967 Nationals but went back to this one at 67 Worlds
