    满水 give yourself sufficient water
    or
    water yourself
would be much better translations. "Adding up the load on yourself" could only mean "increase the load you are already carrying" or "take into account the load you are carrying". It's badly written and one is forced to guess at the meaning which has NOTHING to do with "sufficient" or "water"!

No, you’re mistaken.. this has nothing to do with water nor sufficiency.. literal translation here is absolutely wrong !! When we use this term we mean doing more work, by adding more work.. as in “work to the fullest of your power, challenge yourself more.. 加油”... imagine if I translate 加油 in this context as “add gas” !! That would be a joke !!

@@VitalChineseEducation the episode is about adding water to stabilize a boat, right?

@@QuizmasterLaw That’s only an example story to explain how more-pressure can actually stabilize & balance us.. go to minute 2:36 in the original lesson 25 to see what they actually mean by 给自己加满水

@@VitalChineseEducation thanks; yes "the heavy pressure effect" is the focal point of the essay. the idea that momentum and pressure carry one forward, whether on a precipitous pathway or on the high seas. Maybe "give yourself sufficient ballast"?
