Baby Elephant Khanyisa Gets on the Scale for a Weigh-in! 708 kgs! 1561 pounds!

- The scale doesn’t lie… Khanyisa is mighty large! What a phenomenal piece of machinery to still be carrying Sunshine’s weight - one donated by the Izindlovu Fund 🌞 Khanyisa is 705,8 kgs this week and still downing those kilo-loading milk bottles without any assistance.
The scale only goes up to one tonne, so Khanyisa won’t be weighed many more times!
Enjoy a morning with this special pink calf as she heads out into the reserve with her herd, with Kumbura, Limpopo and Fishan all close by! Watch the beautiful sunrise behind Lundi and Zindoga as the new day starts.
We are counting down to her last night at the orphanage and sharing the moments as we hear her move to the homestead!
It must be the Magic Milk!!! But seriously, it's heartwarming to see her thriving from all the wonderful care she has received from her carers. Keep up the good work!

I really love this video. Please tell Stavros we love him! And Herman and of course Adine (and the whole Human Herd). I know some people are sad that Khanyisa is not a little baby anymore, but please only love and happiness because she's absolutely thriving and we didn't know if she would survive to be 3. I understand though because I've caught myself thinking she's growing up too quickly, but then remind myself what a miracle she is. She was sent to save her species and bring awareness of the horrible plight of the African elephants. Just like Fenya she did not die in vain. In her short time she put a huge spotlight on their plight. And to Adine you are "slaying" it down there in South Africa 🇿🇦 You are making women proud, in a time when women are losing our rights. I’m looking forward to seeing Khanyisa’s first night sleeping with the herd. I hope we’ll be able to see some video of her reaction, will she be confused, ecstatic, missing her nursery? I’m very much hoping to see all of her emotions in a new situation! ❤️her!

Wow, i know and see she is growing, her weight is more than 700 kilo. Thans a big elephant. She now towers above the carers and out grows her nursery. Our little princes is Ready for the next step. I can't wait to see the next mile stone in her life.
Little ones grow, in human and in elephant. So i wish my children stay small and cute, it not happend and they are now mothers of there own. Go on and trive little princess en be an elephant with the herd. When i see her eat from the bush with such an ease i feel so proud of her. She knows how to feed. In the bush and with the bottles. Smart girl

Wow. Its wonderful to see her progress. I can see her waking up with the other Ellie’s saying, “I’ll be right back, gotta go get my milk”. She will be knocking at the door in the middle of the night “hey where’s my milk, y’all forgot my milk”
From one very scared little baby she's getting there and she's got a big family to help her Humans as well as elephant

Well done to all the carers with The Herd. I know I am looking forward to seeing Khanysia transition to be with her elephant family full time, but there is also a feeling of sadness as she is no longer the dependent baby anymore.

Khanyisa can do Math. I’m sure all elephants have this ability to do simple math in the way it affects their surroundings. Such as knowing how many elephants are in their herd etc. Khanyisa demonstrates clearly that she can count to 3. She picks up the first bottle and doesn’t stop looking for more bottles until she has drank a total of 3. Then she is done, knows she’s had her 3 bottles and continues to the next adventure. They are all so intelligent.

I just love the fact that HERD is here to proctet the whole herd. That there is medical help for them and that they are watched out for and that the whole world can see just how long it takes a baby to just get to this point. Every hunter out there should pay for a baby's milk for three years for every elephant they kill. The effort is great do bring a baby up. Thank you HERD. Thank you very much.

I am hoping when Khanyisa moves into the Homestead, she will sleep with Lundi, Mambo and Jabulani. Perhaps they will consider moving Kumbura out from Tokwe’s crowded area into Lundi’s also. Then Khanyisa can peacefully sleep with her wonderful adopted mom and her most devoted allomother Kumbura.
Khanyisa doesn't need any,help with drinking the milk bottles and can do it by herself.
I will miss seeing her run to you for her bottle and miss seeing her comfy and safe sleeping in her stall.
