Great video! I've been using Sketchbook Pro for years. But I only just started using FlipBook. What I'd like to see added is the ability to copy a series of frames and paste them anywhere along the time line. For instance, I have a walk cycle animation that I want to loop while another character enters the frame but there's no easy way to copy the frames of the walk cycle and paste it so it loops within the sequence without repeating the entire project. Also, I don't know if anyone here is old enough to remember DeluxePaint on the Amiga systems but one feature that Electronic Arts had in that package that was phenomenal is the ability to create animation brushes. Basically you would animate your sequence be it a run cycle or whatever motion you desire and then save it as a brush. So if you had a 16 frame walk cycle for a scene that was 32 frames you could place the animation brush in a specific location and paint with it. As you painted with it, the frames would flip and place where ever your cursor landed. You could either has your walk cycle in place, tell D-Paint to move it along a path or you could move it manually. That would be an excellent feature that would make complicated scenes so much easier to produce.
I would like to see a feature added to the software that allows direct sharing with social media or TH-cam as opposed to having to run it through Camtasia or QuickTime in order to share with others. Fantastic tutorial, Paris! I agree with Serena on seeing you possibly have Cherry flipping the pages in the book as an added animation on your next tutorial! I'm sure whatever you add will be terrific! 😊
Hey I just found the keyboard shortcuts to go forward and backward on the timeline is the '' keys. or what you use on your key board to make commas and periods!
Toonboxstudio Big Chicken Animation if you hold SHIFT and press that you go to the next keyframe or the one before. :D and if you hold ALT and press "." you add a keyframe
Thanks Paris! I've been curious about this new feature but haven't had time to look into it yet. Thanks for the detailed walk-through and I can't wait to see what part 2 looks like. :D
It's interesting new feature. The positive side is that Autodesk creates the best 3D Software! It should be a piece of cake to make a 2D Animation software :) Fingers crossed!
Toonboxstudio I would so much love to see a Cherry and Friends film!!! I really hope they make a few changes so you could totally animate with one singular program!
I love how it has the basic functions you always need but that are sometimes difficult to learn in other programs, and they're so easy to locate here and simple to use :D Thanks for the walkthrough! Now I need to upgrade my sketchbook
I have version 6 and love all the improvements over that past versions. Sketchbook has come a long way. I'm working on learning hand drawn animation using toon boom but want something less complex for simple animation. The flipbook feature in sketchbook 7 looks great, especially with the cool example you did in this video. I agree with all of your suggestions for additions to the animation features. Having even one extra layer for animating would help a lot, but as you said, with some forethought the limitations can still be worked around. Thanks for a nice vid. I enjoy all your tutorials.
thank youuuuu! now i can get started on my own things! love you style by the way, cherry is so beautiful! so is your animation, its so smooth and well made, ^^
Cherry finally animated!! Looks so great, Paris! Thank you for this video, really want to get back into animating so I will definitely be investing in Sketchbook 7 :D
It's great to just practice with for the time being. You can't really make an animated short at this present time until they develop it. Its a start to something very big :)
Excelent tut man! Haven't seen it till now, as always you make things look so easy! I'm gonna make some practice on this, never did animation before. I think this takes a lot of practice, even in this early level. Thank you for sharing, you keep improving yourself. Going to see the next tut right now!
I'm new with sketchbook and animating on my computer, this kind of vids help me a lot to find my way! Thanx! And I would like to be able to add some layers to each frame to be able to sketch and use different colour layers. (I can hide my mistakes easier...)
Many important informations. One really important about layers (limited on SketchBook). Now 2022... not more Layers.... Thank you for your work! And wonderfull art of drawing :-)
Oh, 'forgot to add what new features I'd like to see in a 2.0 flipbook feature for SBP. Definitely would like truly independent layers. What we have now is the foreground and midground layers tied together. I cannot animate and slip keys around independent of the other layer, and this makes animating two characters on different timings very difficult. Look to something like TVPaint for a application that has independent layers. I'd also like the option to add more layers. As many as my machine has memory for. It would be great to set transfer modes on each layer (multiply, darken, etc.) I'd like to control the lightbox's opacity level. Finally, It would be really nice to import audio files (at least one) and visualize the waveform.
Absolutely amazing always loved animations and wanted to do them, i tried loads of software's and never got the hang of them, this one looks alot more easier to use. Great video overall enjoyed it.
Nice tutorial! I will add that you can change your total amount of frames by changing the number in the box on the timeline on the right that says 240/whatever you chose at the beginning. Some features I'd like to see are the ability to lock transparencies on the layers and more export formats such as animated GIF.
Nice but when you're used to software like Anime Studio Pro you will quickly see the limitiations here. Maybe if they decided to develop it a bit more in the future I'll dig into it but not just yet :)
YAY Cherry is moving!!! :D I really hope they upgrade this feature more so it can be used for more advanced clips and animations! You did great man i love the tricks you showed :) By the way will there be more of your fan made art videos in the future? I mean those where you uploaded a slideshow of pictures based on your works and teachings? Thanks again for the awesome works you share abaut Cherry and your work! Later :) *One of your student :D *
I was excited to play with the flipbook feature of SBP, but the inability to export to a standard movie format was what killed it for me. Id spent an hour animating an intro sequence, only to find I couldn't export it as a clip for upload through SBP! Grrr!!! I should have checked that first. All in all Sketchbook Pro is still my favorite art programs, the pencil tool has the best feel for sketching of all the programs Ive tried.
Can this software do camera movements too? Having the background move while character is standing or having character moves as well. For example having a tall bulidings standing still while the sky and the clouds move?
I have a question : if I want to animate on a real video, I mean adding animated things to a video. Is that possible on Sketchbook ? If yes, then how to do that ? Thx and really good video, well explained !
I have two questions. I noticed that in another one of your videos, you showed how to color line art by locking a layer. In this video, I noticed that the layers had fewer options. Is it possible to do the same with a flip book? My other question is in regards to how the keyframing feature works, because it looks like you drew each frame in that last example. If I create a drawing on frame 1 and then say frame 7, is there a way to have frames appear automatically in between.
If it's not too late I'd suggest a tablet that has computer function or a laptop that can detach the keyboard like a surface pro or surface book so it's easier
do you know if its possible to set the duplicate key frame button to any key on your keyboard so you dont have to move you mouse back and forth while your sketching?
Do you have a video on how you do your timing keys? I am currently having a hard time understanding it the way my school teaches. I have already learned so much from you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I hope you see this as this is over a year old video)
Its been 4 years does any update for their clipbook feature? I'm to lazy to search hehe... And I forgot my laptop charger so I cant use the software right now. Thank for the answer in advance
I think the ability to select and duplicate multiple keyframes at once would be really helpful. I did a stickman walk cycle and I had to copy each frame one by one to complete the cycle. The absence of that little feature made me exhausted.
hi, i have a question.i save my animation to upload it on youtube, but it is not working. do you have any way on how to post it on youtube? it says that the process was abandoned and and the video could not be processed. can you please help me. i need a comment ASAP
I'm not sure if you already have but can you do one with a none pro tutorial bc I don't know how to even do that bc I'm trying to do a custom made profile picture for my channel...
Can you make a video explaining the basics of timing the leg movement and maybe explain the charts you had up while animating? Whenever I animate something I never know quite how much of a space to put between certain movements to keep it looking smooth. A small tut would be awesome or even just some words or advice. Thanks for the great tutorials you put out! Have a good one!
How can I save the raw file so that I could open it later and continue . Like of i want to do it tomorrow and my work is done half so how can I save the flipbook in a raw file to continue it tomorrow..?
I really hope they develope this into something robust I don't like the vector digital art look that the brush have in Adobe Animate and Toon boom Harmony. I want something with all those features, but look hand drawn using vectors like Mischief.

Dinal Aliffiandy I believe those will be the same as the previous frame. I use this and have found it to be true. It is a shortcut many animators use :)))
Hi Paris ! thank you for awesome tutorial , I figured it out you increased the number of frames, but not that much as I expected ,the wonderful thing is in less than 30 frames you made an incredible animation, I am also making an animation with flip book the most important thing I have learned was number of frames and in between frames role. May I ask you to put the skb file of this cherry animation here? I really like to try it myself, Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! please let me know if you put it here. Sina
It all comes down to planning the scene well before you start. If you have everything drawn out and organised... the process is easier than just going in and guessing :) Yeah sure i will do at some point leave a link. If i forget... remind me lol
his Paris,my question is sbp7 worth getting? i have sbp6 and i love it.the pencil feels very good, does it feel the same in sbp7? thanks in advance. i understand what you mean about animation costing a lot of money and time, time is more important to me or should i call it effort? i don't know but thanks again
The pencil is exactly the same. If you don't need the new features... then just stay with Pro 6. If you want to just animate... it's still very limited. Check the sketchbook website and watch the videos on the new features and the posts. I think that's the way to decide :)
I just really hope that they'll add more layers in flipbook, to make animating a lot easier.
4 years and they still haven’t done it...
It's 2020 and still the same. It sucks because I like the app and the animating feature would be good if they would just fix this problem.
Yeah it makes me so mad still
Yeah so do I
I sometimes use the layers not like they were used for
Great video! I've been using Sketchbook Pro for years. But I only just started using FlipBook. That feature would be cool to have!! Even for the Sketchbook side to share artwork :)
Thanks mate :)
Can't wait for it to be available on mobile devices (i.e. iPad Pro)!
Flamdoodle Animation LLC
Pop
It’s sad
Totally agree with you on what Flipbook needs! I'm dying to use this feature to animate some owl characters!
The thing is, this software can become the elite animation traditional software on the market! I just hope that Autodesk can see that :)
Hey I just found the keyboard shortcuts to go forward and backward on the timeline is the '' keys. or what you use on your key board to make commas and periods!
AWESOME!!!!! You are a life saver man!!! :)
Thank you :)
Toonboxstudio no problem! :)
Toonboxstudio Big Chicken Animation if you hold SHIFT and press that you go to the next keyframe or the one before. :D and if you hold ALT and press "." you add a keyframe
Man, I ve been looking for these in several tutorials and then I find it here in the comments. Thanks a lot!
your a legend
Cherry in motion!!! YYEEESSSS! I was waiting for this!!! ^__^
She will be doing the LOCOMOTION one day hehehehe :)
Thanks Paris! I've been curious about this new feature but haven't had time to look into it yet.
Thanks for the detailed walk-through and I can't wait to see what part 2 looks like. :D

I love seeing Cherry animated! So cool :)
Me toooo :)
Thank you!
Oh my god Paris!!! Cherry is ALIVE!!!!! This is so exciting!!! I was soooo hoping sketchbook would make a flipbook!!!
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah! She moved hahahaha
Flipbook is just the beginning. I hope they take it seriously and make a complete animation section.
This is wonderful! Just like Maya...really a worthy program of Autodesk...And fantastic tutorial, thank you so much!

Finally! Thank you so much! I've been looking for a animation app that would work well!
#Toonboxstudio how can i slow down the movement like you did with Cherrys leg? did you edited on your recording software?? thankyou ^^
add frames in the parts you want to slow down. ( click the symbol with two +)
thank youuuuu! now i can get started on my own things! love you style by the way, cherry is so beautiful! so is your animation, its so smooth and well made, ^^
Cherry finally animated!! Looks so great, Paris! Thank you for this video, really want to get back into animating so I will definitely be investing in Sketchbook 7 :D

I totally agree with you there! I also want the layers to be separated from each other on a frame. That bugged me a lot lol
Man, this is reeeeaaaaallly exciting for me
wow ..great tutorials ,thanks
You're the only male Paris I know of, other than myself.
Lol 😁 There are millions of us. It's a male Greek name going back 5000 years haha #princeofTroy
Love it!
Love it!!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
me too!
me too!!
ME TOO!!!!!!
Absolutely amazing always loved animations and wanted to do them, i tried loads of software's and never got the hang of them, this one looks alot more easier to use. Great video overall enjoyed it.
It's stressful and fun at the same time. Through practice it gets easier :)
Great tut. Thank you!
thx for have done this video the part 1 and also the part 2 they helped me soooooo mush
Fantástico tutoriales. Ya hice mi prueba. 👍👍👍
excellant walk through of an exciting feature. I wish flipbook was available for the Moblie app
great insight and walk through. I really appreciate it. Thanks.
Oh great! I'm happy to know that :)
Thanks!
you helped me so much thank you!!!!

That's a must have :)

You're drawing style it reminds me of old times of Disney movies when their were hand made.
Hi.. Thanks for sharing the video with us ..im learning Now sketchbook :)
YAY Cherry is moving!!! :D I really hope they upgrade this feature more so it can be used for more advanced clips and animations! Yes, i have tons of Fan Art that i need to put together :)

hahaha!! I had the EXACT same experience lol :) Dejavou or what! :)
I only use it for roughs, but it has loads of potential.
nice flip book
nice work you are the best
You are too kind :)
Thank you.
Hello together very important question. Is this also an app for the Ipad Pro? Thank you for your answer:)
Can this software do camera movements too? Having the background move while character is standing or having character moves as well. For example having a tall bulidings standing still while the sky and the clouds move?

Yassss cherry movesssss!!!!! Wooooo
YAAAAAAY! YAHOOOO :)
Evolution has began :)
Thank you 9:44 was a game changer
I have two questions. I noticed that in another one of your videos, you showed how to color line art by locking a layer. In this video, I noticed that the layers had fewer options. Awesome video, i want to know what laptop its better for illustration and 2d animation? Plus YAY Cherry have movement!!

do you know if its possible to set the duplicate key frame button to any key on your keyboard so you dont have to move you mouse back and forth while your sketching?
How do you share an animation? and also is there anyway to make a GIF of an original animation in sketchbookpro?
Do you have a video on how you do your timing keys? I am currently having a hard time understanding it the way my school teaches. I have already learned so much from you. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I hope you see this as this is over a year old video)
Been awhile since i checked out your channel bro thanks for the upload i enjoyed my visit :D
Hey Pierre :) Welcome home my friend :)
Hey Paris, is there a way to pan the background on SketchBook Pro 7 so that you can animate the character walking across a long background??
Paris, have you had any issues with Sketchbook pro 6 files being used in pro 7. Like errors because of the background layer?
Its been 4 years does any update for their clipbook feature? I'm to lazy to search hehe... And I forgot my laptop charger so I cant use the software right now. Thank for the answer in advance
how do u add a background? like a finished background. I want to insert a background but i don't know how or maybe there's no option for it
I think the ability to select and duplicate multiple keyframes at once would be really helpful. I did a stickman walk cycle and I had to copy each frame one by one to complete the cycle. The absence of that little feature made me exhausted.
Hey! I know its been 5 years lol. But is there an import sound in sketchobook's flipbook?
hi, i have a question.i save my animation to upload it on youtube, but it is not working. do you have any way on how to post it on youtube? it says that the process was abandoned and and the video could not be processed. can you please help me. i need a comment ASAP
I'm not sure if you already have but can you do one with a none pro tutorial bc I don't know how to even do that bc I'm trying to do a custom made profile picture for my channel...
You're a really good animator! Also, when will part 2 be out, because I kept on checking my subscription feed to see if you uploaded part 2?
It's finally uploaded ;)
Enjoy :)
I'm actually in the middle of creating a HUGE animation set of courses that covers every single subject :)
You rock homie!
Toonboxstudio I know that's super time consuming, plus it's on top of other projects. However, any eta on when it'll come out?
How can I save the raw file so that I could open it later and continue . Like of i want to do it tomorrow and my work is done half so how can I save the flipbook in a raw file to continue it tomorrow..?
For some reason, when i have the total frames as 240, i cant extend the grey bar at the bottom past 39... Any ideas on how to extend it farther?
Is this an update? Or do I have to buy it again if I have Sketchbook 6.2.5?
really cool new feature :)!
It is exciting, Can't wait to see what happens in the near future to this software :)
i really got to try it out, never animated before and since i'm so "at home" with sketchbook, this might help me out on this next step instead of Flash
How did you record this video? Please reply. Awesome work!
Can you use an image as the background? Like insert one from your photo gallery?
Thanks !
awesome video! Thanks a lot! :)
Coming to Sketchbook for galaxy? Please......
muchas gracias
Hi Paris, I have sketchbook pro 6, and I am pretty happy with it. Besides the flip book feature, is it worth it to buy sketchbook pro 7?
I wondered the same thing and then realized how old this video is. I bought Pro 6 so long ago that even 7 is old news. Lol!
You just saved me $30 :)) a promising program, but still missing a lot of things; i'll wait till its all fix and ready :))
Oh my god I love it.
I really hope they develope this into something robust I don't like the vector digital art look that the brush have in Adobe Animate and Toon boom Harmony. I want something with all those features, but look hand drawn using vectors like Mischief.
Awesome
this looked promising, up until it had a limit on the number of frames :/
If there's a limit of frames than I have to look the other way when it comes to buying this, seriously wtf.
yep, that was my problem with Pencil too because the scrollbar could only go so far
+Nova Fox that's pretty normal on classic or traditional animation, you do animate sequences not the whole scene or project. Eg: a walking with two extremes, one breaking down, three contacts for left foot/right arm, three contacts for right foot/left arm, the passing positions for each an then the rest of inbetweens. And the nothing more that a loop cycle. An there you have a part of an scene with just one sequence. No problem with frame limits if you see it from the prespective of traditional animation.
oh :P i think max is 1000 now
Guys it's free now
Does anyone know if you can use this to animate on top of an existing video, like add special effects to a live (not animated) video?
its not a perfect software but its easy to use,.. thank you
How did you color it??
To be honest, that was quite quick to catch while he was working on it. Caught everything what he did towards his final look.
very cool excellent vidow
Thanks Aviv :)
i dont have the pro but can you help me, i lost my bucket filling thing
cara muito obrigado eu estaava presisando de um aula ssim! quando vai sai a parte 2
hehehehe class first, youtube second always :)
Thanks ;)
that's awesome
Hey thanks Ray :)))
thanks bro.. my problem is there are only three layers and i need more than that..
Good!
Toonboxstudio I would love to see a sketch with cherry and your wife or cherry having a beach party
How do you change the framerate for an animation? Can you only change at the start, or do you need tons of frames for one action?
Pretty sure you can only edit the frame rate at the beginning ://
What's the difference between a frame and a key frame?
Even app like audacity could be implemented to do mouth or synchronized sound to movement animation
awesome tutorial! :) anyway you skipped one frame every frames. are the skipped frames empty?
If you have everything drawn out and organised... the process is easier than just going in and guessing :)
Yeah sure i will do at some point leave a link. If i forget... remind me lol
Check it on FB when ever you could it is not that important, happy birthday to you.
excelente!!!!!!!
does anyone know hoe to collapse and bring up the flipbook frames?
his Paris,my question is sbp7 worth getting? i have sbp6 and i love it.the pencil feels very good, does it feel the same in sbp7? thanks in advance.
i understand what you mean about animation costing a lot of money and time, time is more important to me or should i call it effort? i don't know but thanks again
um -_- hi* not his
The pencil is exactly the same. If you don't need the new features... then just stay with Pro 6. If you want to just animate... it's still very limited.
Check the sketchbook website and watch the videos on the new features and the posts. I think that's the way to decide :)
Does this work for autobook sketchbook app for tablet
The autobook sketchbook does not have this feature on their app. It's only available through the desktop versions. :
Why has mine not updated? I don't understand. Its not updated and its not giving me an option to do that. Can you help??
awesome
Cheers Doc ;)
