A deal signed weeks ago to re-establish order in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince has stalled. It would have involved the deployment of a large Kenyan police force.

As a Kenyan, I don't want any of our troops to go to Haiti. It's disturbing that the president is wiling to sacrifice our sons and daughters for a cause that neither concerns nor benefits us. We have our own problems here to handle and taking our soldiers from their families to fight in a foreign war is not viable. It's UNACCEPTABLE! Haiti can take care of themselves!

I can see Charles Owino, former Kenya police spokesperson, lying as usual, Kenya has lost officers in previous missions outside the country. Lying is his second nature. I'm Kenyan btw and we are highly conflicted by this Haiti issue. A more humanitarian approach, such as medicine and health workers would be appropriate to our Haitian brothers.
