      I went to my first tournament and lost in sparring but got second in form and techniques that is good for only being a white belt at the time I say that cause I am now getting ready to test for my yellow belt.

    This really moved me since your story is exactly like mine which made blew my mind as I now know someone who went through what I went through. I'm a first degree black belt in TKD and I've been doing it for years now. Things kinda got complicated in my club though so I made the decision to quit, and it was one of the hardest choice I never thought I had to make. Watching this video really reminded me on why I loved TKD in the first place. I love my friends there, it was the place that help grew me as a person and built up my confidence, I met some amazing role models and establish some friendships with such loyal friends I would have never met, it was like why you loved it. I was like you though. I never liked sparring though as once I got my black belt, we had a new master that never really taught us anymore so my skill slowly dropped. I know I should not complain as it should have been my responsibility to train by myself but I never had time at home and was weirdly never allowed to train by myself in the club as my master would yell at me. My friends on the other hand was much better than me. They can do the advance kicks and beat anyone in sparring while I couldn't do anything. I hated it. I hated myself for dropping my skill so low, I hated on how I couldn't stand on the level with my friends beside me anymore. I still hate myself to this very moment. I want to get better though. I want to stand next to them and be a proud black belt. I'm thinking of transferring to another club and rebuild my self to where I once stood and build another goal once I achieve this one. I hope I can be like you in the future. TKD means so much to me as it has also been there for me for most of my life. I don't want to throw it all away. Even though I don't know what to do anymore and feel like breaking down, you lit a small fire within me. My passion that I once lost is now here so we'll see where I head after this. Thank you. Honestly, I hope I can talk to you more or you make more video like this, it really helps me. Thank you and Congratulation on passing your test! You'll do great and make TKD proud :)

      PowerPrincess650 I can’t believe that your story is so similar to mine! It really made me feel better to not be alone about it ^^ And i hope you’ll figure out what to do, and that, whatever it is, will make your life the way you want it to be. ^-^

      Changing clubs is not a betrayal. If you dont feel comfortable, why not doing it? Anyhow, I would check some free clases at the new club you intend to go to before changing, it may be good to have a new club before leaving your club.
      If you feel that you aren't progressing, why not tell your master so, and ask for advice? That's not complaining, is asking for advice. Communication is the key of human relatonships, whether is between friends, or between student and teacher. If the communication line gets broken, the relationship gets broken as well. And communication should be a two way line. If you feel you aren't progressing on tkd, ask your teacher and partners for advice. They know you, and might be able to help.
      Something that helps me progress is setting very clear goals. If I just say: I want to get better... i go nowhere. Now, if I say I want to get better at getting out of rear bear hugs, I feel it is easier for me to improve. When I concentrate my focus, I get much further.
      I hope you find a solution that makes you happy. Happy Christmas!! : )

    I started in Kung fu but then I quit. After 5 or 4 years later I decided to try out taekwondo. Taekwondo was really fun for me and with one of my friends joining is even better and FYI I just started taekwondo last year and next week is my first competition or tournament on sparring I'm kind of nervous coz my taekwondo teacher just ask me to join last week. But me and my friend don't mind if we win or lose at least we tried and have a bit of experience and next time I will train harder.
    Thank you for this video it really inspired me to try harder.

    I just put my 9yr old in tae kwon do. He says he hates it. But i want him to stick with it. Any tips? Or dos and donts?

    • @BlackBeltSamery
      @BlackBeltSamery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you know why he hates it? Does he not feel comfortable/confident in techniques? I would ask the school- at ours we usually do a complimentary private lesson to help find out what they’re not enjoying and try to help. It could also be a something as simple as he’d rather be at home playing video games or with his friends, so then maybe a conversation of expectations would help. It could be a million different things, but I would try to find out his reasons first :)

      @@BlackBeltSamery the few minutes of running and stretching he says he hates and yes he would rather play videogames. But always after class hes like im sorry i said i hate tae kwon do. But i watch him and he tries so hard to get it right. But its just the fight to get him to go. Is it wrong that i push him in the direction of martial arts?

    How old are you? it's wrong to give kids under 10 black belts which is why I find it difficult to respect TKD. Such a young age no way they are good to protect themselves. BJJ minimum age is 19 for a black belt and only if you are good. It might be the school and if so enlight me how to find a proper good one?
