Actually when you see how detailed they are, and so very unique, $4-5 isn't that much. You can pay double that in the US for blind bag toys, like Funko Mystery Minis and such, and they won't be half as detailed or artistic.
LadyDragonsblood hence, when I visit Japan next time (I don’t know when), I’ll try to find Gashapon machines and spend half my souvenir money on them. The other half will be at the Pokémon Centers.
I think I would spend all of my money on these and then get told off by my other half 😂😂😂

Gachapon are THE BEST THING. I just got back from Taiwan and was pleasantly surprised by the number of gachapon machines (there's some outside every 7-11!) and UFO catcher arcades. They had all the same prizes, but for much cheaper!

Also, not all metals are magnetic. Aluminum and Stainless Steel are magnetic, while regular steel isn't.

Tbh, gachapon is my weakness, when I was in Japan last year, I spent quite a lot (around 4000-5000 yen) just for gachapon. that is already equivalent of 1 MG gunpla. when I realised that I could've buy an MG for that amount, I stopped playing it lol.
