Absolutely love seeing a biker who will take care of the trail and leave it better than it was found. If more bikers would act like you we would have much nicer trails for everyone. Stoked for the increase in uploads!
The sampler coming with the back to back to back releases after a long lay off!!! One of the best MTB channels out there. Been patiently waiting your return! So stoked!!
Alex, THANK YOU for the PSA about leave no trace! Those signs went up about 3 years ago and it has only gotten worse with the pandemic/added traffic. It’s a never ending battle to keep mass amounts of garbage off the forest roads. Thank u my friend! I hope to meet u in person and thank u one day!
One of the things I really enjoy about Alex's footage is that he goes down trails just like the rest of us muppets, "Don't die, don't die, don't die... ok that was pretty fun!"
my dad recently passed and he has been a subscriber of yours for a while. He always said he admired your positivity and gratefulness to ride as much as you do. wish you all the best :)
Ima 66 yr old mtbr and have watched you for several years. Keep it up. I always enjoy your videos! ❤ It’s getting to where I don’t mtb as much as I used to but I have a few other bikes I use on greenways and gravel and easier mtb trails. I’ll never stop riding. Thanks, Alex. ❤
I am recovering from on-duty TBI. One of my recovery goals is to be able to ride a bike and get started in Mountain Biking as I have meant to for the last four years. Your recent experiences and heart-felt posts have been more helpful than you may know. They truly speak to a special segment who benefit from relating to your honest struggles and your contagious personality and enthusiasm!!! Thanks so much man, please keep it up!!
There's nothing like Avery....such a great trail...the first time I rode it was in late fall a few years ago...and the leaves were all showing off...my sons and I stopped for a moment just after dropping in...and between the quiet of the back country and the unbelievable colors it felt like we were in Rivendell. Just magical.
I don't personally think of it as 'the grind' but I do appreciate it! The grind makes it sound like I'm just tryna hustle blah blah when I'm really just trying to get myself out riding my bike more! lol
This video is a great example of Pisgah! Long climbs, great downhills, and jang! The "wildness" of the area makes the ride. I feel like after every ride in pisgah, I have pushed my limits, gotten dirty, gotten lost, maybe rained on, and leave with the feeling of adventure. Good times!
You are definitely one of the best mountain biking channels out there. Even though I am a much more cross country rider, rubber side down, I love watching your videos. The long delay is definitely worth it. Love you ❤
Long time subscriber here. Best news of the late summer is the return of regular Singletrack Sampler vids. And thanks for the Leave No Trace mention. I've seen similar scenes in National Forests in VA, WV, and PA. Forest Service will only deal with this for so long before they start closing places.
"Climbing is like a Zen thing for me." Absolutely agree with your attitude about paying your dues with the climb. I enjoy it also. I've climbed that exact Avery Creek Road many times...being introspective before Club Gap and the Avery Creek or Buckwheat/Bennet Gap descend. Enjoy.
That is a great trail. My profile picture is from Avery Creek. It is so nice when most people want machine made trails but Pisgah has so many of the natural trails it’s really fun. It has everything.
At 54, I am not a Black Diamond rider. I'm not even a Blue trail guy. Heck, I'm not too keen on anything downhill style. But I love the dirt! I enjoy your videos because you LOVE the ride, too. Your recent leg fracture recovery gave me hope because I had a wrist fracture (which I'm still recovering from) that kept me of my brand new Trek hardtail for over a month. I'm back in the saddle but still going easy. LF,RH,GS!!!
I didn’t know how much I missed theses weekly vids till you started posting them again but I will still watch ur vids no matter how often you post them because they always make my day
Pisgah and Dupont are awesome. Tough intermediates that lead to more difficult black variants. Beautiful area. Can find a good beer or two as well nearby.
What a great run! And good call taking it easy on some of those bigger drops with your recovering knee. No sense in pushing it so hard. Wait till you are more rehabbed up and you got a trail buddy with you
Great video. Love the trail maintenance along the way. Also, thanks for the trail directions as you came upon them. This really helps anyone who isn't familiar with Pisgah's layout. Kudos on not hitting the large gap jump by yourself. If the gap jump doesn't work out, you are a long ways from the parking lot or anyone that could help.
So happy you're making more videos! I can't get out and ride much (caring for my new baby) but watching you get out and have fun on the bike helps fill the void. Thanks for sharing your rides with us!
My wife and I did that trail about 2 years ago. The top was definitely super chunky, but it was such a fun ride. Can't wait to get back out that way for some more riding.
Awesome! I regret not trying this trail. Was in Asheville back in August on a family trip for the kids to ride Berm Park, Kanuga and local trails. We hiked to see many of the waterfalls on our first day there in Pisgah and at one point my wife asked if I wanted to ride a trail solo. Looked on trail forks for a trail that I could ride but still take me somewhere for them to easily pick me up. Threw the dice on Club Gap, Black Mountain (upper/lower) trail to take me all the way down to the highway/access for pickup. Black Mountain was fun, but damn there was so much climbing for this central prairie Canadian who isn't used to the relentless never ending climbs. The biggest problem was we had set an estimated time for me to meet up with my family and just didn't account for so much janky slow going climbs. Climbed Club gap, Rode Upper Black Mountain, but then after crossing the fire road for the next larger section of upper black, it was so tight and rooty and was such a slow going climb and was fast running out of time. 20 minutes into hike a biking the 2nd section of upper Black, I looked at where I was in trail forks and realized I still had massive amounts of climbing to go before it started back downhill, with the clock ticking and me not taking into account how slow the climbs were going to be, decided to cut out that section of upper black(regret doing it), head back to the fire road, and blast down the fire road down to Lower Black and carry on that way. Which is what I did. Lower black was so damn fun, Still ended up being a good hour behind my eta to meet my family, they were freaking out, no cell service. I pulled a spoke nipple right through my rim on lower black, This was my intro to Pisgah area riding 😆 Kids and I did a bunch of rides within Bent Creek where we were camping. Black Mountain was still heaps of fun, but wish I had the time to ride Avery and Bennett now. Will be back to ride there again one day. Thanks for sharing this.
Really enjoy the older style ride videos man. Good job on getting back to getting out the frequent videos. And as a bonus, I caught a glimpse of one of my stickers on the orange toolbox.
Sweet trail. Pretty sure I rode this years ago. Rode so many trails in a month near Asheville they al blend together. An embarrassment of riches and great riding!
Great ride and welcome back ! I feel ya on being outa condition, been a bunch of years since i've rode and the road to get back in shape is tough and long. At least for me at 62!! Cheers!!
Absolutely love seeing a biker who will take care of the trail and leave it better than it was found. If more bikers would act like you we would have much nicer trails for everyone. Stoked for the increase in uploads!
I expect most bikers to do this naturally. It just makes sense. Same way as you don't take a shit where you eat.
It's the warriors way.
Massive respect for this 👏
Alex, BKXC and Seth have always minded the trails...

THE BEST. Classic Alex for the longtime supporters. And everyone, for that matter. Thank you, kind sir.
I missed these 1st person pov videos of yours. Thumbs up!

I've always loved your conservation and land ethic, Alex. We all need to practice no-trace and preservation habits, now more than ever.
I envy people living close to trails like those, you're very very lucky people.
Thanks for letting us enjoy it with you
Thank you for caring for our public land!
Ride smart to sample every day..... pre-ride, re-ride, free ride ... and trust your pride ride! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Love the positive message on mindfulness and mountain biking 💜
It's nice to see you go out and just have fun again, the videos don't all have to be sophisticated productions.
Love to see you having fun at work!
OUR OLD LOVELY BROTHER ALEX IS BACK FINALLY !!!! LOVE THESE VIDEOS , MORE ADDICTICE THAN COCAINE ❤️
Love seeing all these old style sampler videos coming out so frequently!
It is a pleasure to have you back posting videos only you can do. Thank you for taking us along on the adventure.

Thanks for doing more singletrack. Love to see it. Not everyone rides bikeparks. Pain and pleasure.
The Single Track Sampler Trail Steward! I love it and do the same thing! Thanks for showing off this Pisgah gem!
All these North Carolina trials look so fun
I would pay if you set up a "Sample Pisgah with the Sampler" ride. Thank you Alex for showing us the trails!!
This is the Sampler we all missed! Loving the videos!
The return of the stoke is palpable. Love seeing you so happy bro.
Grateful that the Sampler is back on the grind!

We're going to be there in mid October and I'm pretty sure we're doing this trail! Thanks, Alex!
Dude, that’s my favorite overall Pisgah trail. The best blend of chunk, tech, speed, “flow”…
