TE is the compagny that brought me back to passion of music and for that I ll never be thankful enough are product expansive hell yeah but there are so innovative and always give you this « I’ll get back to it » vibe … most of my gear never gave me such chills
They don't have built in pre-amps, require phantom power for real performance, can't be used solo, and they're not field mics. I'm confused what your comparison aside from audio quality similarity is? An SM will run you about $100, then you need an amp with an interface which if it's standalone is going to run you between $300-1200+ not to mention they are typically pretty large unless you're using something like a Zoom. Don't get me wrong I love my SM58 and PD70 but this is a completely different mic for a completely different use case. The ZOOM is probably the cheapest option as an interface but pair it with a mic like this vs an SM there will be very noticeable differences, and $1200 for a mic isn't as crazy as people seem to think. TE is a very innovative and style focused company, their prices reflect craftsmanship and if I'm being honest make you appreciate the device more. Their barrier to entry might be high but I'd drop so much bulk and hassle using the field kit vs cobbled together gear that wasn't all built by the same team.
Where are the videos where musicians or podcasters use the CM-15? All I’ve found are sales videos (like this one) or videos done by long-time TE collaborators like Cuckoo. That fact worries me. Where’s the shootout of a CM-15 vs other popular mics, so we can see where the CM-15 falls, quality-wise? I say this as a fan of Andertonswho owns the OB-4 (an amazing sounding speaker, without the crazy features)
Im standing on the fence about his product. It's so bloody tempting to be able to have this little bugger and my mac and nothing else (I use a inntertube audio tube mic at home for vocals). Bulky as F. So this is sooo appealing. But am I really just a moron to not buy a Austrian Audio OC818 for the same price (and less portability but maybe worth it for the result), or a Dachman DA 87i. Convince me please (or dissuade lol)
I used to carry around a bulky Canon SLR to take great photos. Then the newer iphone pro's came out with great cameras and portrait mode (which gives you focus and DOF control). Does the SLR take better photos? Hands down. Do I ever use it? Rarely. Do I take great photos with my iphone every day? 100%. But this is because I am carrying my phone with me every day. How often do I have a need to carry a mic around with me? Versus am I just recording with a mic in specific circumstances, in which case does it really matter if I have a smaller form factor. Not knowing a lot about mics, my next question would be, what other equipment do I need to get a good sound out of an OC818 or DA 87i vs just using a usb connection with the CM-15.
I got it. Caved in lol. I’m a jazz drummer and I just plugged it into my phone during a rehearsal. Everybody’s jaws hit the floor when I played the video not even expecting them to listen. Nice.🎉
I love TE, anyone who hates should really do some soul searching, the price of materialistic’s shouldn’t matter that much to the extent of expressing hate on the internet, you should really consider therapy you literally gain nothing by being a negative human. 😅
Is Andertons really desperate for content these days, that all it demos is Teenage Engineerings overpriced twaddle. Come on guys, you're better than this! Let's see stuff the majority of us buy, audio interfaces, monitors, midi keyboards etc.
Jack, dude, you can sing mate! We need to hear more of it!!

5:23 made me check my headphones because of the crackles....
Jack! Lovely singing, brother! I had to check out that song. Never heard it, but what a gem. You're a class act, mate!
This reminds me of how goddamn good the SM57/58 are. Not just for the money, but period.
Yep, you could buy half a dozen great mics for the price of this!

$400 for the whole set up is good……wait..It’s $4000!?!?
😂😂😂😂
A good mic may be worth 400$ not some teenage garbage.
It is a luxury product, for people who use money as tissue papers 😂
Looks cool but what’s the appeal? Portability is the last thing I’m looking for in a microphone.

@@doublehead1973how is recording band rehearsals / drums with it? Run into any issues ?
@@doublehead1973 how did you connect it to your phone ?
Your intro sound sample reminds me a lot of the first 25 seconds of Army of Me by Bjork.
Listen to The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel
Your song reminds me of The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel
Yeah, that’s the song. It’s actually written by The Magnetic Fields but Peter Gabriel did it on his covers album
I’m sure their stuff is good quality, it’s just way way out of my price range, I’ll never own any of it, or have any desire to. Good luck to ‘em
❤

people have reasons for hating. Some of their products are rather difficult UI and workflows.
@@quantum_ocean easy so then don’t buy it buddy !
I think they generally hate bc of the price. I drank the kool aid though, I want some more of their stuff after the KO2. CM-15 next.
@@user-mb8rf7qk5q I got their whole field kit, and i love it. For context I make indie style music.
It's a product and they are selling it, all things are judged on price/performance.
😂
just get Samson Go mic for 15$
@6:45 _"no EQ on there"_
After literally showing us you applying EQ to the recordings.
All he did was apply a small high pass filter. Like come on you know what he means 😐
TLDR : for the money, not that much!
Utter waste of time TE is.

Bro why are all of your comments such negative trash?
@@AmiliaCaraMia Because Teenage Engineering are producing overpriced crap. If it bothers you that much, scroll on!
