Blu's my favorite animator. High level control and musicality. He didn't do his best against Skitzo but I still felt he held his own. Also that vid isn't the best angle of that battle on youtube. Great vid btw Rob.
Yeah, what makes Bluprint a master is his ability to make what we call amazing dance skills seem not so much like dance for him, but just how he moves as some kind of evolved human being. It's like he could just keep doing that all day, because it's how he exists. Birds fly, and Bluprint does this.
Blu was low energy in that battle vs skitzo. Skitzo had high energy and his interpretive musicality for the second round gave him the edge for most people. Personally it was a draw for me.

Round 1 was a tie, both blu and skitzo were nailing everything, blu destroyed his choice and skitzo came out swinging haymakers Round 2 was skitzo 100%, blu wasn't in the right zone for the song, but he did great, skitzos musicality is his choice was perfection Round 3 was blu, he edged skitzo out with more energy and conceptual stuff. Skitzo didnt hold up the same energy in that 3rd round and he kinda lost it near the end of the round
you said it right on the money. bluprint is a technician and skitzo is a showman. both are crazy talented and are some of the best at their craft. bluprint is half of the reason I began freestyle animation dancing when I was younger. nonstop was who started it all for me.
I love love love, BluPrint01 def my favorite from dragonhouse been watching him for years. I can't understand how good he is. I've watched him progressively get better and better to the point where his talent seems like there is no end.

Dude this style has been around forever. I’m 40 years old and and back in 1994-2001 I was learning this shit. I’m actually glad people are still keeping it alive. I knew dudes that would smoke anyone on TH-cam right now. One dude in particular, he went but lucky and was in a crew called body science. Trust me he was a mad scientist when it came to isolation/animation. Don’t get me wrong, blue print is dope but the creators and pioneers of this style would smoke these dudes.

Couldn't agree with you more about popping and the way it's traditional foundations (eg. music) are limiting the dancers creativity, which hurts the overall artform in the long run.
Yup. So instead of it just being called popping we get these weird sub genres that don’t or won’t last because they’re based on popular music, instead of actual dance foundation, the foundations that are literally just borrowed from popping.

Robert, Otis Funkmeyer did a Bluprint commentary where he gushed about Blu, but in a more recent vid with Clarence he felt that Blu, while technically excellent, lacks dynamism due to his flat chest and lack of hitting. Do you agree with that? You mentioned how it's nice to see him add hitting to change things up. As well, the video of Blu versus Havok shows a miming club dance style that Blu doesn't seem to pull out in battles, but he's fierce with it. Do you recommend that he go that way more when battling?
I most definitely agree with that assessment but to be fair this show isn’t about pointing out technical flaws. Is BluPrint trying to be a popper? I’m not sure if it’s a goal of his or not. I do think a hit adds impact to any dance style, but I do have a bias just like Otis would, in that we are seasoned in ‘gushing’ over super high level poppers, and this ‘new wave’ of dancers are doing something completely different so it’s hard to say what’s right or wrong, all we have is our subjective opinions. If he were a straight popper, I would most definitely say that a solid hit would be imperative. As far as his battle tactics, he has a long way to go, I think he needs a more ‘ G Style ‘ approach, then again I think everybody could use some G Style battle tactics. Robert Muraine My intro to you was on SYTYCD. You battled Philip Chbeeb, another awesome dancer and choreographer, mocking his signature arm waves. I seem to recall you saying then that the dance scene in LA was so strong and you were used to battling. Funnily enough, I know little of dance but I am a 55-year-old secondary school teacher in Hong Kong and have spent hours watching street dance on TH-cam, so I’m marginally conversant and can seem hip to my students. Great to happen upon your series. I’m a big fan of Elsewhere, Dragon House, Creesto, etc, but there so many amazing dancers now. Any plans to feature female dancers?

The entire scene seems to have a pretty homogenized perspective on dance in general, and don't give it much thought outside of 'that was weak' or 'so and so is better'. I also like to watch Otis for this reason, his opinions and thinking are generally spot on, or at least outside the box. As far as female dancers I most definitely will! I have a very long list of dancers that will soon to be featured, including female dancers like, Dassy, Pandora, Marie, Standing O, Dytto and others. I'm trying to feature the dancers I have some kind of connection with first, some kind of back story I can close the show with, and to be completely honest I don't have any real history with any female dancers, unfortunately. I also poll the audience a lot, and try to give them the dancers that they vote for, which happen to be men 😂

He's one of the innovators of the style of liquid & digits and people in the know know how sick he is. He was rocking with Assassin's Crew in DC for a bit (the one with Rashaad & Future) and was one of the members of the original Dark Matter Squad (you've probably heard of Dark Matter Japan/XTRAP guys like Ryoga & Nari). I know you have showcased dancers that are a little more well known, which is fine, but Frantick and I had a discussion a couple of months back about how there are some really creative dancers who don't really put themselves out there and aren't as recognized as they should be. Well I for one am a bit offended. As a young hard core Blueprint follower, I would have appreciated your simply focusing on "WHAT MAKES BLUEPRINT GREAT " . When you already lined up Skitzo as your next featured dancer , why show video that are nowhere near his best and follow that up with a battle ..? No he's not a battler, nor are many of the Dragon House clan. A dancer gets to a point where they don't have time to waste with petty rivalry and instead put their focus on career and future. The new generation don't got nothing on the Old School Masters you just don't know about them, you're to young dance groups from Dallas and Fort Worth Tx and Corsicana back in the day beat the Electric BOOGALOOS and the LOCKERS back in the day groups like THE STAR STUDDED STRUTTERS, THE FLEET WOOD LOCKERS, THE BOXHEADS to name a few but really every thing this new generation is doing I've already seen it and I've seen it done better, you would be shocked most of those real cold dancers are either on drugs , locked up are dead I'm one of the last but I'm 53 and can still do it but it don't motivate me no more, I like seeing y'all do it but believe me I've seen better.

The new generation don't got nothing on the Old School Masters you just don't know about them, you're to young dance groups from Dallas and Fort Worth Tx and Corsicana back in the day beat the Electric BOOGALOOS and the LOCKERS back in the day groups like THE STAR STUDDED STRUTTERS, THE FLEET WOOD LOCKERS, THE BOXHEADS to name a few but really every thing this new generation is doing I've already seen it and I've seen it done better, you would be shocked most of those real cold dancers are either on drugs , locked up are dead I'm one of the last but I'm 53 and can still do it but it don't motivate me no more, I like seeing y'all do it but believe me I've seen better.
