Bleed knot leather dog lead.....The sound quality is not great I don't know why...I hope to sort it for my next video. I have put the measurements in the comments

The width of the leash in this video is 3/4" the length can be what is best for you. The crew punch i used was a size 38 this is about an inch / 2.5cm . These holes have to be big enough to get the width of the leather through. They can be bigger if you like.If you don't have a crew punch cut the holes with a knife then punch a hole at both ends to stop the leather tearing. At the handle end The hole start 3/4 inch in from the end. The next hole starts at 17.5 inches / 44cm.At the trigger hook end the first hole starts 1 3/8 inch 3.5cm . (I did the handle end different from the trigger end they don't have to be different) This hole length is bigger to get the handle through it . I made this hole length 1 3/8 / 3.5cm long.The next hole starts 4.38 inch 11cm then leave a gap of 3/4inch / 2cm for the last hole.These measurements can vary depending on the width and leather you use
Hi Devin I never measured. I just grabbed some leather and cut it to a length that looked good. I will go into by leather school in the next few days and measure it . I will let you know
The bleed knot one I made had a total length of 44 1/2 inches. Its made up length was 32 inches.The Handle was 9 inches and the turn back was 3 1/2 inches.
An2oine to stop it drying out put leather oil on it. I use cheap vegetable oil and tallow fat. This is what my leather suppliers use when finishing the leather. Also if they are hard to buy. You should make them and sell them

I will try. The problem I have is that is me going slow. I was a piece work saddle maker making 5 / 6 saddles a week , It is hard for me to slow down. Thanks for the tip

I try to do both measurements metric and inches. I tend to do more in inches because that is what I know best. I think, in my newer videos. I started holding the items up to the camera showing the measurements better.

I agree Kianu 20 minutes to make this is just been lazy I think it is because I am not as fit as I used to be. Looks like I have to get back to lifting weights. I will start tonight by lifting a heavy glass of whisky.
You need to have balance when lifting weights George, so probably best to have a full glass in each hand.....Raised and lined work soon....? Thanks as always....:-)

I don't make anything at all. I retired 2 years ago and only teach now. When I was working I made English type saddles. I also travelled the world teaching and selling advice to companies. I do these videos to help people all over the world who can not get this education at a school.You should have ago at making leads. They are easy to do and working with leather . Is something that you will enjoy doing.

Thank man! My dog's leash dried out. It was homemade. They only push nylon leads here in USA.

So how long is the leash when you cut it out? You keep going off and on camera so I can't see what you are doing.
It was bugging me that you wouldn't stand up your maul to keep it from rolling away.

John Richardson it is tallow fat inside a piece of denim. I only heat it. If it is really cold in the workshop. On a normal day. It will be fine

I’m not sure in ounces. We measure thickness. I use 4 mm thick
