I live here. I've always loved this park from childhood, when my mum would take us all to watch the athletics in the sports stadium. It was free then. It's a shame that you didn't mention the farm that is there. Which was shut for the longest time. It used to be a small zoo. As an adult now, I love to search out Hidden features of the palace that is hidden under or behind growth. There's also the famous spinx. The new cafe near the dinosaurs. There's a caravan park and a beautiful lake and gorgeous birds. There's also a tiny museum. It really is a lovely place, whatever the season.
Excellent series. No mention of the Crystal Palace motor racing circuit which attracted the worl'ds best drivers until it was closed in the 1970s. Some of the original circuit still remains in the park.
This was great. I’ve only been to Crystal Palace Park once. It’s like no other place I’ve ever been. Loved seeing the dinosaurs & foundation to the actual Crystal Palace.
It's really depressing looking at what it used to be compared to now. It's not even a bad area but it's not the grand place it was when the Palace stood in the park. Smashing video. 👍🏻
Brilliant Dewyne. Saw a lot of bands there when the 'rusty laptop' was The Crystal Palace Bowl. Clapton in 1976 being just one of them. Good stuff mate.
You forgot to mention that there was also motor racing and motor cycle racing that took place here. Drivers such as Graham Hill and Jim Clark regularly raced at the Palace
I remember watching the motor racing (from a hill in the park where you didn't have to pay) and recording the sounds on a very early portable tape recorder to use as background on my Scalextric!
Thank you so much brought back so many memories from my childhood I live in Devon now and have 2 teenage daughters myself such a beautiful park and steeped in history 👍🏻
Come to Sydenham! If South East London should ever declare independence from London (City of Southwark-Greenwich Upon Thames is my name for such a city) you should become it’s mayor you’ve done so much to raise the vibrations of this unsung yet beautiful part of London.
London Districts we should make it happen, North Londoners hate us anyway 😂😂😂 we can keep the greenery and nature reserves, they can keep the tube and the north circular road 😁😁
Used to ride my bike here as a kid, lived in Stockwell and my Dad would drive over on a Sunday. Beautiful park. Moved to Penge in 1982 left the area in 1996.Great memories.
Thanks. Lee Traquair gave this episode a really nice feel with his music which fits perfectly and he wrote the episode so I can't take all the credit. Gonna try and get him to compose more like this.
alas another place I would rather forget now,, spent some years of my childhood fishing in the park,, you don't want to go near there after dark ,unless you want to get stabbed. My father watched the glass palace burn down.. old man
I grew up in Crsytal Palace during the late 70s early 80s, some of the happiest days of my life spent there.
Went to see Richie Havens & Sha na na at Crystal palace bowl music festival early 70s..Brilliant days..
Far out..hippy days..

@ 3.15 where that woman pushing the buggy past that blue metal fence is the site of the old high level station on Farquhar Road main entrance.
This wo so good! Honestly, I didn not expect myeslf to feel so emotional after watching a video.

Thanks Jennifer. Yes its good that they preserve some of that.
Brilliant. I gew up here over 50 years ago and you told me a few things I didnt't know. Thanks, Lee.
Good to hear
Your videos are wonderful and you do so much to showcase the real London. Reminds me how charming Crystal palace is too. Thank you!
I think that's the right word - charming.
There's so much love and talent to convey that in this video. Thank you.

Great video. Crystal Palace area has some gigantic Victorian houses, probably the biggest I've ever seen
brings back great memories of childhood
A lot of people love Crystal Palace for this reason.
That park is a gem.
I know right?
Nicely done. Many a happy time spent here.
Thanks.

Wow! thumbs up lol
London Districts we should make it happen, North Londoners hate us anyway 😂😂😂 we can keep the greenery and nature reserves, they can keep the tube and the north circular road 😁😁
Nicely done 👍
Loved that place when I lived nearby, must go visit again soon
Great, especially the dino surprise
Just stumbled upon your channel; I'm hooked 👌🏿
Nice video, we are lucky living in CP, nice and green for South London.
Used to ride my bike here as a kid, lived in Stockwell and my Dad would drive over on a Sunday. Beautiful park. Moved to Penge in 1982 left the area in 1996.Great memories.
Perfect dude. Favourite part of the whole city for me.
Cheers Rufus!
I really love your work ! Thanks !
Thx Adrian
This channel is sick bruv!
Thank you I really enjoyed learning about this place 😊
Thanks Marcia..
We shot some interior scenes for our film in The Sparrowhawk on Westow Hill. Lovely pub.
I think it is seven miles south of Charing Cross actually. But due to hills and bends in the roads that lead there the road distance is 8 miles.
Great video.☺️
Thanks Josh. Nice channel - keep it going.
London Districts thanks.☺️
Great to watch ... thank you x
Ooh this looks like a nice place to visit, i bet its nice at night !
Was ,,,,,, ! The palace was burnt in 1936 ......
I assume you are referring to the view and yes it is spectacular in the dark, especially on Fireworks night.
Loving your videos Sir !!
Glad to hear it squire; if I may assume that.
Beautiful. Love it
Your music and research helped set the right tone for this one dude! Grateful for it.
My favourite place in London
My favourite part of southeast London.
How does a glass and steel building burn down?
simple - glass and steel eventually melt under the intense heat of the flames and thus level to the ground.
@2020 Pure fire broughth from the Gods! 🔥🔥
There were flammable materials throughout the building.
Maybe they were all fireworks factories
it was cast iron, not steel
Great video :)

Also the hidden crystal palace subway.
Wasn't able to include this unfortunately. Access issues.
Officially Crystal Palace is the distict of Penge (Borough of Croydon). Population - 18,087 (27/3/2011).
I think they raced cars there
they should rebuild the crystal palace building
The "radio tower" was as Eiffeltower built to support it with Electricity =Electric City. Watch old pictures.
Every World fair had one.
The word _electricity_ does _not_ "=" Electric City, fool.
I suppose you also 'think' _history_ "=" his story and _founded_ is the same as 'found'?
Do Sydenham! Probably the best place in South East London! (In my opinion)
We hear you...
London Buses and trains I love Sydenham! A surprisingly large area/district stretching from the borders of Bellingham right into Dulwich
London Buses and trains and from forest hill to penge
alas another place I would rather forget now,, spent some years of my childhood fishing in the park,, you don't want to go near there after dark ,unless you want to get stabbed. My father watched the glass palace burn down.. old man
It sad plus why uk never rebuild it
He didn't even show my ends
Who wants to see your 'end'?
Tower Bridge
