Since the lakes on this chain have no size or creel limits you would think these lakes are over populated with crappie. However within every species there are giants as well as dwarfs. My question; should a 9/10 year old crappie be considered a giant within the species? If so by taking this size of crappie are we depleting our gene pool of giant crappie?
I agree that is it could be possible at some point- it is importantly for us to take care of the natural resource to make sure it is there for future generations
The biologist responded to me about your question and said: "The size (length) of the fish is the main factor for abundant, quality eggs. Not only does the number of eggs increase with size, but egg quality typically increases as well."
