►Synopsis ：
In the 9th year of Wude Period of Tang Dynasty, Li Changge, the daughter of the former crown prince, accidentally escaped from the military coup in the palace. During her escape, Changge encountered the secret service agent of a grassland tribe, Ashina Sun, who was under the pseudonym of Qin Zhun. They got to know each other through a fight and their affection grew stronger. Changge smashed a conspiracy in Youzhou. However, at the same time, her identity was revealed, and she went to Shuozhou to escape capture. She hid herself beside Gongsun Heng, the governor of Shuozhou, to help him resist the invasion of the grassland forces, but she did not expect that the enemy general was Qin Zhun. Changge was shocked and distressed to discover Qin’s real identity. However, the situation in Yuzhou is in great danger. In order to gain time for reinforcements, Li Changge negotiated with Sun. For the sake of the overall situation, she was willing to be a prisoner and taken to the grassland. Then she accidentally learned that the Great Khan had an ulterior motive. Changge decided to temporarily put aside her personal vengeance, and risk her life to save the situation. In order to save Changge, Sun disobeyed the order of the Great Khan, but they were far apart from each other after that. After going through the arduous exile, Changge gradually understood the principle of the invincibility of the benevolent, and finally put aside her personal grievances. After discovering that the former forces of Sui Dynasty were the manipulators behind the scenes, Changge and Sun teamed up to protect the peace of Tang Dynasty and the grassland. They finally came to realize their deep affections towards each other and went to confront the crisis ahead.

Ashlei Sun finally told off Li Changge! She needed to hear that! She is so caught up in her own sense of right & wrong & bravery etc, that she doesn't notice how much havoc it creates around her! That Asheli Sun still loves & cares for her and wants to protect her ... he has my heart! What a hero!

There is a huge difference between Li Changge and Shao Shang though. People aren't perfect and they make errors. Difference is, Changge has the courage to take responsibilities for her errors, acknowledge them, and to continuously grow and better herself. I realize that I actually love this so much about her despite the mistakes she makes. Shao Shang, on the other hand, is the complete opposite and one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen onscreen. All she did in LLTG was refuse to change or grow, blame everything on Ling Buyi, victimize herself even though she contributed to so many issues, chasticized and complained about LBY every time an issue came up. It was so hard for her to see any good in him unless someone else forced her to, and that was her pattern the entire drama! Changge actually understands Sun and sees the good in him. She just wrongly chose to do something risky here and caused consequences that hurt others because she was too desperate to help the people of her country. More importantly, she saw the wrong in what she did. She understood her actions had hurt others(including Sun), was remorseful, and apologized, even saying she would understand if he hated her and didn't come looking for her.

Everyones complaining that this two is boring, well clearly this is not your typical drama series that has exaggerated stupid cute things between the female and male lead. No necessary or stupid hates, the character development is good. They we're all matured here. That's what make this drama a whole lot unique and that makes this soo good.

Their chemistry is fantastic, and their story is more than a love story. It's a tale where it got its name. So, people who don't understand the story's plot and the emotions conveyed will obviously say that this drama is boring when it is far from it.
Not a boring one. People are used to childish teenage acts especially for chinese dramas. This one is helluva drama. I like the chemistry too and they really look good together.

Princess Yicheng killed two birds with the same arrow. She is indeed smart. For one, Alir was killed which affected Sun a lot, and secondly, Changge could have been killed.
I think she tried to kill three birds with one stone. Sun mum which affected sun so much that it triggers him to hurt sheer but his shot hit at the khatus who came just in time. And li changge (but was saved by a stranger). If not for young khah remorseful heart, Sun would have been killed.
She is a good strategist. Killing three bird with one stone.

I have no problem with Changge wanting to help General Luo Yi...but the problem lies with how she went about doing it. She was warned by Sun not to trust anyone other than him but she was so desperate and impulsive with her emotions that she went and trusted Khatun. Her intentions are well enough but she needed to be more cautious and to consider consequences to all those who care about her. She should have searched for another way instead of listening to Khatun. When Sun asked her how she was planning to save General Luo Yi and she said she already promised someone and couldn't tell him, I was just like, "It's not reasonable at all for her to be trusting a complete stranger over Sun."
To credit Changge though...when she makes an error, she's apologetic, accepts responsibility, and acknowledges her error. She also wants to better herself. She has picked up lessons learned from those more experienced with life and wiser than herself along the way and taken those to heart. And she will continue to do so. That takes a lot of maturity and a will to grow.
100% agree with this. I like that she's stubborn on her values which can be needed when going against the tide. However here she was blinded by her values and failed to see the true complexity of the situation which can only come with learning from one's mistakes. I liked that instead of feeling ashamed or anger in response to Asun's confrontation and running away forever, she turned back and want to save him. She didn't give up on herself or him but want to make up for her mistakes and I think that's the key to growth

I don't expect characters to be flawless, but I do expect that they'll show maturity by holding themselves accountable for their mistakes, desiring to better themselves, learning, and growing...and Changge did all of that each time she made an error. I really admire her for that. One of my fav things about this drama is the character growth that happens to almost every single character.

I love how loyal to Sun Eagle Division is, Khan's right hand man rides up and they don't even hesitate to aim their bows at him

This is one of my favorite episodes in this drama cause that was the first time Ashile Sun every showed his emotions in front of great Khan. He was upset but there was nothing he could do because he knew she was scheming again. This is the first time I saw Sun helpless it broke my heart.
When ashuli sun drink the wine and releases his anger brought me much much more with his emotions. I need to played it many times so i can move on. And also seeing the reaction of his father, i guess he realize that his son was madly inlove with changge. this drama was definitely on another level.
Ugh Sher is so despicable. He's a greedy, grasping, power hungry coward. He will stoop to any level if it means he can remove Sun.

This is such good story telling, but, when you watch it, you have to go back in time to their day and age, their ideals and beliefs, their priorities in life, survival tactics and lifestyles. Otherwise, you'd find the characters unreasonable and persistent.
I love it, even the hurtful things. Changge had to be told off, and by the one person who can have some effect on her. Without knowing it, she depends on Sun from the beginning of their acquaintance. Sun is her strength and the rock. That's y she was shattered when she realised Ashlie Sun is her Ahzun. He is her secure place, but even when he says is blatantly, she doesn't realise it because her focus is elsewhere, and away from herself and him.
And can I just say, the Prince of the grasslands is so majestic and beautiful in white, and he is still awesome in black/dark brown 😍
Plus, you need to see the BTS of that mother as hostage scene. It's heartbreaking, even the effect it has on the actors is amazing!

I think Sun know exactly how to work around those rules to make sure she isn't really hurt while he isn't risking the interest of his tribe. Even the shooting of the Tang Emporor, I think he had a plan which he couldn't execute coz changge acted first.

I'm in disgust at this female's lead stubbornness and selfishness. To be honest I understand Ashile's anger and why he sent her away. She keeps making the wrong choices and keeps getting him in trouble. I knew Alir was his mother and look at what she caused.
I agree 100%. I'm so annoyed with her character. She thinks she is righteous but she doesn't look at the big picture. She always trying to find a person or a cause to save instead of minding her own business and save herself. If I was Sun, I would have been done with her a long time ago. but isn't the point of the story, that she is stubborn, she even with her wit and intelligence doesn't see the big picture, but as she has gone from city to city she's learning... I know giving too much leeway isn't ideal, but she lost her family... she "saw" her mom die at the hands of the person who made her who she is... her whole world has shattered... she doesn't even know what her belief really is until she saw both of the governor and his wife's bodies.
I think the progression, her learning... growing... with all the mistakes she keeps making, that's the worth while...
Even though sun has been through so much because of her, she hasn't asked him to love her and protect her... it was his choice
And thats the real beauty in this story, its not the typical he saved me I love him... because she doesn't know who she is... she doesn't understand that he is saving her everytime

When you think about the psychological aspect of these characters, she has lived in comfort and peace... she was taught martial arts and the crafts of war never being expected to actually use them ... while he has suffered since young, he was taught everything so that he would be of use, the difference in their characters and nature is not just of where they lived but how they lived

Changge is the princess of Tang . If she doesn't help the Tang people, who should she help? Well, she came to the Ashile tribe, her purpose is not just bcoz of her personal love, you need understand before cmt. Remember before you guys watch this drama I want to tell that "The Long Ballad" it's mean "Li Chang Ge" or "ChangGeXing".
I have no problem with her helping Tang but not at the expense of knowingly harming those who love her. Does she think she can save Tang all by herself? She'll need loved ones by her side. Will it make her a good person to save a piece of land but to harm so many people in the process? She needs to be smart, to be patient, and find another way....especially when she was already warned by Sun about the holes in her plotting and not to trust anyone other than him. I mean, she was so desperate, she basically chose to trust Khatun, a stranger, over Sun, the person who has saved her over and over. Why??? It's not reasonable. She even got tricked by Khatun to keep her plans hidden from Sun. Too impulsive, too desperate. Didn't care enough about the people who love and tried to protect her. She needed to do some soul-searching. I'm glad she does that, regrets her actions, and tries to better herself. I can appreciate her taking responsibility for her errors and for choosing to change and grow.

The story is good, but you know. After this, I believe that it's more than snitches that need stitches. Stubborn people got lots of karma coming to them no matter how good their intentions are. There is no sympathy for those that knowingly cause others pain. It appears that blue balls are everywhere, even in the grasslands unless you are the khan.
I am so thankful for Chinese dramas, helps me know that lots of guys have problems with their significant others. Dang, I thought only I was subjected to stubborn, selfish, and not so smart. But yeah, I'm not so smart also since I'm the one that married her and I'm stuck with kid. At least I don't have it as bad as Sun. 8)

Let's put ourselves in her place and think what we'd do if we were her. She was loyal to her country. And she had reached a point where she couldn't love someone again so she wouldn't have anything to lose if she suddenly died on the battlefield

He has a choice to let her be killed or not at the expense of his division, so it's his fault. Don't blame Changge, she's just using any means necessary to survive and help a much of her people. I just hate it when the writers make it to look like he saves the day and Changge gets all the blame. lol blame the writers for making this situation that make the characters look dumb, especially at 17:15 and 22:38 for dilly-dallying so that they could make Sun hero of the day again and prove his massive ego point to Changge and capture her back. Ugh can't you just see she didn't want a love story? She wants to save as much as she can and prevent more deaths and return back to Tang and clear her name. If she didn't shoot the arrow back then at the emperor's cup he would be dead and Ashile would easily conquer every city. Then what? Force her to marry? Her actions may be reckless but his indifference towards others than Changge is more terrifying. And isn't he reckless too by saving her knowing it will implicate his division? Ugh people just looking at men like they're gods and women are like glass that with just one crack. I'd rather blame the Khan for starting this whole war thinking he could win and also the previous emperor for abandoning Changge and her mother.
Exactly, but no one else is gonna point that out... The plot is so cliche, don't know why writers always like to portray a FL like that. I mean they made her look so unreasonably stubborn, so that viewers can blame her for the deaths of people related to her and sun. That's unnecessary though...

Well, it looks like the plot is going nowhere with no character development happening so I decided to drop this drama on ep 27 amd just fast forwarded to the last episode just to see what the ending be like. I'm just disappointed how they build the characters good at first then destroy it halfway through. I'd rather watch Rise of the Phoenixes that has good characterization than just making a gender bender love story that tries to fit in a historical drama.
