One time in '81 we're boozing 'round in Dave Moyle's XP Ford and we come across Rob Younger at the traffic lights trying to cross six lanes of big-time Victoria Road traffic. Rob was wearing these ultra cool leather dacks. But he's too cool to push the 'Walk' button. Our carfull of impressionable young music freaks was starstruck to see our legend in the flesh. So Dave winds down the window and yells out 'Hey Radio BaldMan, push the fuckin' button'. But Rob's way too cool for that.
One of the greatest lessons I ever got was when an old guy told me "any time you hear two guitar players playing the same thing that's one too many." Radio Birdman always illustrated why it was important to have different but complimentary parts.
@@themillwall442 You might think so but I can't tell you how many Open Mics and Public Jams I watched that guy take us all to school regardless of genre or era. We are all better players for it and wish he was still around but cancer is a bitch.
The old guy isnt necessarily smart wise or knowledgeable just because he has some years on him. It just means the old guy has been ignorant for a long time. It's very rare if ever two guitars play the same thing exactly note for note, what's the point? There's a thing called harmonies which the Eagles as an example did a lot of.
None of that makes any logical sense. The whole point and reason for having two Guitars in a Band is so that one can play Rhythm and the other can play Lead. Some Bands have 3 Guitarists. On Mike Oldfield's classic opus "Tubular Bells" in 1973 he kept adding layers of different types of Guitars that played the same 'thing' For example "2 slightly distorted Guitars" He used acoustic Guitars, electric Guitars all playing the same piece of music for 25 minutes. So, I think that your 'old guy' was attempting to be 'funny' However, he failed.
What a honour it would have been to be at one of those tables and going mad to these instead of those boring people !! What a waste of seating area !! Awsome.
The problem with these fuckers is you walk away from them and say "enough!" then by osmosis you come backing into their loving arms and realise these guys are the real deal!!!! God Bless The Bird!
huh? what you talking about? I've never walked away from them or the New Christs thinking that ,.... saying enough! Do you say that with the Hard-Ons and the Celibate Rifles, Cosmic Phyos too? what a strange comment to make?
@SecretAgentSlothman Best conclusion I've ever seen on youtube. Radio Birdman don't need the R&R HOF. The band simply live on and one and on in every new kid who picks up a guitar and wants to play rock and roll like a motherfather!
@zanemaz Well mate, your dad is a F@#$ING LEGEND! Without question the guitarist I'd most closely associate styles with. Hey, do me a favour and ask him if he's putting the Raouls back together. Cheers man.
who is the bald guitarist on camera left of stage? Not Chris Masuak? I saw the bald guy here him play with New Christs heaps of times but never knew who he was I always thought he was too young to be in the original line up
The band shows little effects of time. But the audience. The 70s audiences were moshing, this group seems comatose. Makes me wonder why they were there.
it is not the same riff in the 3rd pass of the first lead break by Tek that is on the album or when they play live. I loved the special additions he played that night. But how can you say it's the 'real version'? So what has he/they been playing since the 70's then? a fake ingenuine version?@@martinfiaysr4942
For the record there are some snobby old timers. Was watching another more recent vid where they were saying shit like "time to retire" or "you're ruining the legacy."
@@Justice4all_001 Tek wanted Masuak out for spurious reasons without looking at his own performances. Punk? It was, sort of, in a late b60s way but not "punk" in the mid to late 70s way.
