Btw Wolfy, have you played cassette Beasts? It released this year and it is very similar to pokemon with a few twists! Highly recommend! Also Shiny hunting is a bit easier AND the alternate colors influence their type! The story is also super trippy:3
I definitely agree with the parts you mentioned, even if they would be considered minor details. It just doesn't seem as authentic and in line with the old Pokemon games. I guess since it's a first-time thing for Pokemon to go full, open-world, and especially with such a small time gap from one title to the next, it feels a little rushed and incomplete. If it were about 3 years after this one that we get the next one, I wouldn't mind one bit. P.S. If you intentionally avoided the final trailer just released last week, I'll just say that there's a lot of side content at the end of the DLC story you'll probably miss, and you wish you wouldn't. Trust me when I say that they put in some really crazy new stuff to the franchise.
I was sooo sad that you couldn’t go into the buildings and talk to most of the people in scarlet and violet. For a game that’s all about exploration, you’d expect to be able to see more . Still , it’s a awesome game . I loved the rivals !
@@McNotSassyLostChild I beg to disagree, they both are nice characters but I like nemona more because she's executed better, she's a prodigy who got to far to quick and is now alone. Seeing a new person who actually seems to have the qualities to stand with her on top was so exiting for her, that's why she's over exited most of the times I liked hop's story of the kid who didn't make it as a trainer because they are more fit to be a professor but I feel like it's a bit strange how that's literally the same storyline as Sonia, the trio dinamics of dandel's friend group got reused for us in the same exact game, that felt pretty lazy tbh
I love Pokemon, but even I admit maybe an extra year or two would definitely help the quality of the newer games. Scarlet and Violet are fantastic story wise, but they're always going to be bogged down by it's glitches.
True, plus i always thought the pokemon designs for scarlet and violet were a bit too simplistic or unoriginal, one of the pokemon are literaly just 4 mice. Also i wish game freak would just stop adding a new gimmick for each new gen, mega evolutions and z moves were great but everything else just made the franchise too convoluted, like what happens when i gigantomax a mega evolved charizard who is also terrastelized, while doing a z move. I just wish for the next game they just stick to mega evolutions, give mega forms or nee evolutions to previously underrated pokemon (i.e. torkoal) and maybe improve on the pokemon designs
The main problem is that Game Freak can't slow down, legally. They have to keep putting out a new game, they have to keep making deadlines, even if they want to slow things down. The Pokemon Company has lord knows how many contracts they have to keep in line with, such as when a new set of cards release, or when Studio OLM puts out a new anime series, when Creatures Inc. releases a new line of merchandise. No matter how much Game Freak wants to slow down. Unless they plan said slow down (with the permission of the entire rest of TPC) years in advanced, it won't happen and we won't get the TOTK Pokemon experience
Honestly, minus the story (which I’m still kinda not over), Terastalization is one of the best things from SV. It’s the most balanced gimmick, and it’s simple yet opens for more strategies competitively. Plus it’s better than just Pokémon go big.
yeah but about MONEY ? People still buy all the game, so the quality can be horrible, people will still buy ! don't need to be a good game, just put "pokemon" on the title, let's go ! - Company dude who doesn't even play video game
@@carito3293and that's where game freak needs to decide if they really care about the franchise. If they care then some contracts should be terminated to gain more time to polish up the games
When I saw the Bidoof floating & suddenly flew off into space, it reminded me of an annoying glitch involved a Luxio being stuck in a tree and I couldn't stun it, battle it or catch it. It really angered me.
Man, I remember constantly running out of money in X/Y because of all the (expensive) pretty clothes you could get. They definitely knocked it out of the park with the customisation in those game. Thank you Wolfy for voicing the concerns of the community. If there are enough of us they've got to do something about it.
One of my fondest memories was having to take an hour-long train ride to the nearest GameStop to pick up Moon. And before that I was on a bus late at night when I heard about the leaked starters, I was hyping Decidueye so much to be real, I'm to this day happy hootie ended up being real. Now I'm replaying Y and it's a lot better than I remember
Honestly, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feels like a chocolate egg to me. It's huge and has a great design carved into the chocolate, but then you bite into it and find that it's hollow. It's super buggy and they made the open world but sacrificed the liveliness, so there's not much reason to even explore the open world. In past pokemon games you could really feel the culture they had in each region but in Scarlet and Violet I can't feel that. I barely could tell that the place is suppose to be based off Spain and Portugal. It's such a shame too because the story is good with a neat twist, but the rest falls flat. If they had more time maybe it would of been better, but it really leaves a sour taste and I hope future pokemon games aren't treated as poorly. Edit: Jacq is really hot though, btw.
I have a soft spot in my heart for Pokémon Black and White since they were the first Pokémon games that I played I was also about 4 years old when the anime first came out and I loved it
I heard a lot about gen 5 and only really understood why people loved it after playing it myself. It was truly the Golden age of pokemon, in my opinion.
Black and white game has the story profundity a lot of newer games lack, I think. It doesn't treated their public as just children and that was amazing. And my god, I love N and I'm gonna miss him all way long P.D. Bad thing is that I lost my game advance just before entering the league :') it was horrible. I plan to re play someday because I want to experience the final part myself. But that doesn't stopped me from loving the title
I remember playing Emerald on school chromebooks with an emulator, and it was tons of fun! Then I played sword and it felt like a never ending tutorial, haven't played any of the more recent games since then
I agree with your sentiments on Scarlet and Violet. A little extra time would go a long way in quality. My fave games have to be ORAS. As a gal who started in Hoenn, those remakes were a treat. ^-^
Indeed, Wolfy! I feel like the same - QA and experience has just seemed to be getting worse recently. However, I still enjoy Pokémon as a series for nostalgia and perhaps it's the draw of being in a another world.
I definitely do think pokemon games do need more time. Hopefully with how pokemon has changed the animes direction and everything. They can allow the games to hav more room before needing a new generation to add to it. Same goes for the card game as its the card game and merch how pokemon actually make their money. Not the games
That's disappointing to hear you disliked Isle of Armor, because I preferred it to Crown Tundra. Like...outside of the raids I felt like there was nothing to do there? One thing's for sure, though, the future seems bright for the series.
Who wishes to see a Pokemon series starting our lovely Wolfychu? :3 Just imagine her party, filled with the prettiest and the strongest Pokemon to walk by her side❤
I always find myself coming back to this video. I don’t know why but I just enjoy hearing your voice Wolfy and your opinions of Pokémon. Upon arriving at 5:59. I wanted to quiz myself to see if I remember your favorites from a video I saw two weeks ago. Gen I: Eevee (fun fact: I love it too) Gen II: Espeon Gen III: Absol Gen IV: Glaceon (my favorite in the bunch so great taste) Gen V: Zorua (I have a soft side for it too) Gen VI: Sylveon Gen VII: Rockruff Gen VIII: Dragapult Gen IX: Dachsbun
Luckily the devs have stated that they realize there is a problem especially with time and that they are looking for a solution that would be beneficial for us and them. Who knows what it will be but at least it gives hope.
@@babycatto173It was the director of the pokemon company during one of the pokemon presents stream. To they said that they wanted to maintain the quality, wich is really a low bar.
I’m happy to hear, you’re a big fan of Pokemon games. My first Pokemon game was Ruby and Sapphire. Happy Holidays Wolfychu. I hope you might make a Christmas video soon.
Your animations are so cute! On Kitakami, I think I like it more than the Isle of Armor in SwSh. Mainly because it's Japanese-themed and has so many returning Johto Pokemon (Murkrow, Hoothoot, Sentret, etc.), and I'm a sucker for the Johto region. Fighting Kieran over and over again really does drag it down. I wish they had done something with that "Oger Clan" trainers you find spread out through the DLC. Btw, I love your art and animations! It's so cute seeing the stars in the eyes and dressed in different outfits, like Iono, the female player sprites from the different gens, the Kitakami kimono, etc. Good vid! Hopefully Indigo Disk, which comes out tomorrow, is a banger.
one thing that made the dlc a bit more interesting for me was catching and training a whole new team, made me think about the pokemon that were around and actually have some challenge against the trainers, was honestly a pretty fun time. i definitely wouldn't mind pokemon taking longer to come out, maybe even have the people that did brilliant diamond and shining pearl do some new games without many new pokemon and stuff, would be cool to see more in a simpler style maybe even some fully 2d new games to give gamefreak more time to work on the brand new stuff.
my favourite pokémon game will always be pokémon moon, it was my introduction to the series ^_^ scarlet was alright and i liked the characters but there was definitely some issues with the maps and such TwT awesome video wolfy!!! and thank you so much for the fanart feature! (i’m the last one on the slideshow, username changed :D)
6:40 It's not lack of time, it's poor management. Majora's Mask and New Vegas were masterpieces made in half the time with a similar boatload of prefab assets.
As a man who loves Pokémon during my youth, I can relate wolfychu, I’ve been playing the games for along time, and they indeed had some trouble when moving into 3d, it was a hard time, but they are trying so hard to deliver us the new content, despite the many fan complaints and suggestions, u are right about how they have to do a lot of their other works like the trading card game, anime, side games, etc. So it’s hard for them to get the game more flare than the other games, I hope they can try to put in more time into their games/projects ,and plan a better schedule to balance their work, and one day , we will see a game that make all us poke fans happy, and satisfied. I respect u and ur takes wolfy 😎😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Bugs: For me, I got the games at launch but wasn't able to really play until the bugs had already been patched. So, my experience was great. Buildings/conversations: I'm pretty sure these were a tradeoff for the open world builds. I miss them as well, but also it's fair to assume that going indoors and having lots of talking characters was the equivalent of the larger outdoors that now exists. And it can't be easy to try to come up with new dialogue for every single random NPC in the game, especially outside of trainers. I agree, I wish they had a stock in-store environment rather than the menus. But also... I never buy anything from the food stores so those don't bother me though I also miss seeing the clothes displays. Remember, many inside-buildings didn't just use cookie-cutter models (of course, many did) and that is even more so in newer games. DLC: I LOVED the three DLC sets. I enjoyed the story, despite how short each part was. Honestly, I was just depressed that Zeiyu didn't get more focus, instead it's almost all about her brother. Pokemon themselves: I LOVE THEM! The paradox Pokemon were a great addition! For me, what got me into Pokemon was Magnemite (one of the most magitech-ish of Pokemon), so OF COURSE what I love is getting Iron Valiant and Koraidon! And then my hammer-girl and magician kitty, yes! There will always be some Pokemon that are loved by many and disliked by many, that's not special of any generation (and anyone that says "eh, I dislike X Pokemon so don't care for the game as a whole and seeing any of the other Pokemon"... eh, sucks to have such limited interest I guess?) For some things, who knows? Maybe as these more detailed assets get developed there will be more that can be reused to allow for new ones to fill the things that had been cut. Overall, I like the greater focus on outdoors exploration than indoors. It just takes time to get everything improved and caught up.
Yeah, I'll admit it it's not the same as it was before, but I mean, it's still fun to play pokemon, and I like the features of customization but good lordy it's alot of new things they keep throwing at us. 0:19 hungychu 4:14 the moment the game didn't want to even start up cause it was eepy 4:29 fuecoco who told you you could fly?! 5:58 now that's a whole lot of bread 🍞 6:36 *headpats wolfy* It's ok wolfy one day you'll get a shiny.
It's a very high pipe dream, but if Pokemon could change at least some things it would be a improvement that not even Romhacks has attempted 1) HM doesn't need to be learned for their use, like a example, having the HM and the required medal is enough, while making them a optional move more viable 2) Rather than forgetting the move, you get to move it to a Stock of eight moves divided in two: Attack and Support, unused moves are put in a Stock 3) A MP System only for Special or powerful moves while Physical or plain ones can be used infinitely, not only making running out of PP a non issue, but making more sense storywise (Why in Arceus' name a Pikachu can only tacle 35 times but is fine to headbut someone?) 4) Rather than the plot being merely "Get the medals or their equivalent and ocassionally beat the big bad", make the Plot of the baddie the focus while making the medal hunting a sidequest with the Elite Four or again their equivalent being Postgame 5) Bring Back Gym Leader interactions outside their gyms please, i loved them in Black and White T-T 6) As a compromise for Dexit, The national Pokedex is limited to the full national AND some of past generations, not only being concise in a Lore Standpoint but also making the "Gotta Catch Em all" thing far easier, in the process i think that would allow them to make more rounded National Dexes rather than filling it with past gen ones 7) Some cues from Megaten, like six members being the initial limit, but after a Optional or plot milestone your team gets updated and all of your team being in the fight, with only some ocassions where you get back to 1v1 matches, and most likely, making interacting with catchables as an alternative for fighting them, making more sense lorewise while gameplaywise being a failsafe to not knock out accidentally that level 6 shiny Pidgey with your level 50 Kyogre 8) A minor nitpick, but rather than making Type Held items improve only the move of their type, make it improve all the moves of the Pokemon if he has the type match 9) Regular item drops, i always was irked at having to use a move or a Ability to steal items as the time saving alternate to wasting PC space praying for a chance of the pokemon to have the desired item, maybe justifying it with your Pokemon taking the item and handing it to you after defeat since he liked it 10) Hard mode, and not a cheap "Damage Sponge that onehit you" but rather a genuine "Make Gym Leaders use the same stuff you would use against them" Also not making them monotypes that you can wipe with super effective moves, but use a variety of pokemon that happen to benefit of the Type, that0s something i like from the Romhacks i played so far 11) Separate Slot for held item and berries, making using bverries and items more viable 12) And most important... More than one Save Slot and New game plus, not even a fancy one where you keep al your money and Pokemon, but keeping track of the Hall of Fame from previous playthroughts treating it as past Hall of Fame trainers I know TPC would rather die than let Game Freak take time to make their next pokemon games polished, this video being evidence, but i hope someday at lest one of these features are added to make the games more like how we remember loving them as a kid
The thing about Pokémon is that a yearly release, makes some games come unpolished, which sucks as most of them have so much potential!! Although I do have to say, from Sword and Shield to Scarlet and Violet, there have been vast improvements, which I'm glad to see!! Overall, they just need to take as much time to make games, like what happened with Mario Wonder's development. Great work on the video and liked the way you tackled on the idea!!
Scarlet and Violet was really the final straw for me in terms of enjoying mainline Pokemon games. I did the gyms out of order and accidentally did the 8th gym like 4th and then after climbing over that giant wall, the whole game was ruined for me challenge wise. Its like they wanted open world, but also wanted people to do travel in a specific order which is basically what every open world game tries to avoid. There's so many exploits that you would think any game designer would think of and prevent as well. Like what happens if the player gets a really high-level pokemon at one point? It boggles me how the level limit with badges system doesn't account for catching Pokemon either.
@@DrawciaGleam02 A bit yes and just through trial and error cause I actually thought Pokemon was giving me a challenge for once. 😂 I huffed a lot of copium.
I appreciate the Nemona appreciation Yeah, it definitely feels like Scarlet and Violet were an extremely mixed bag. Tons of upsides and tons of downsides. Specifically a lot more downsides than what we're used to. Hoping that the upcoming games feel more polished
@@mrcwillis6970yeah. Many things in this game were very obvious and couldn't be overlooked. Like, the evil trio of dangerous pokemon basically steals food and that's it, seriously don't animals do that as well?
Definitely not a hot take. The more recent mainline games lack a lot of what the older Pokémon games had. Team Star is a solid example of what not to do.
I successfully caught 3 Shiny Rockruff in my Scarlet game just before your good video has been uploaded, that was a perfect timing. I love Pokémon too, the first game of the series I discovered was the Diamond version. My favorite Pokémon games are Legends Arceus & Scarlet because their respective stories are great & finding Shiny Pokémon became easier. 9:04 made me laugh, I also saw a Bidoof stuck on a tree during my playthrough, just once.😂 Btw at 6:26, I'm sorry to hear that you haven't encountered a random Shiny Pokémon in Legends Arceus & Scarlet. If it interests you, I could offer you one or a few Shinies I caught, by doing a Link Trade. Thanks for the interesting video, Wolfy !
I've not really played any mainstream Pokémon games, though I was pretty into the TCG and Mystery Dungeon Blue. And I remember those days with great joy ! Scarlet and Violet seemed a bit weaker though ... Awesome video Wolfy ! It's beautifully drawn and a good story to follow along with !
I’d rather Pokémon make 10 more games like legends Arceus focusing on purely the plot and a section of Pokémon, than make more of their “core” games. That literally will never have the national dex ever again……. Dexit 1.0 (the transition from GB to GBA) made me upset and sad. Dexit 2.0 (the execution of the national dex from all future installments) made me extremely angry. Dexit 3.0: (the dissolution of access to all the prior Pokémon games by the future shut down of the Pokémon bank servers) won’t affect me because I’ve already jumped off the instant buy for every game of Pokémon bandwagon and will now only buy a Pokémon game if it is actually good.
While Scarlet and Violet do have their flaws, they are currently one of my top games. I do agree that they needed more time to polish up the game, but I adored the story! I liked how we had more things to do than just become champion. Fighting team star and helping Arven brought me so much joy and I wanna see more stuff like this in future games! I adored Nemona, Arven, and Penny! I love their characters and I had so much fun with all of them! While I was also skeptical about getting the legendary immediately, I grew to love having Miraidon by me!
Pokemon Y was my first Pokemon game. I got it for my birthday after Christmas, so it was a magical time playing that game and it will always have a special place in my heart.
I haven't bought any new Pokemon game since Pokemon Black. I have other taste in videogames, I have more responsibilites, and I've lost some interest in Pokemon games. I don't have as much free time as I used to. However, Pokemon was a huge part of my life in my childhood. To this day, I still watch pokemon art in Pinterest and other social media platforms, and brings me joy. Heck, I have a Sylveon keychain. It still brings me the fondest of memories, and I love some of the newer designs. So, there's also the chance that it's not that the newer Pokemon games suck: it's jsut that you became an adult and your tastes might have changed, just like it happened with me.
I miss the evil teams so much i get it was similar every year but it was so much fun, the newer games I find myself getting super bored and I haven’t finished any game past sword and shield because the story and the parts I loved like character customization, exploring/talking to random npcs getting kind of removed
Great video! When it comes to Pokemon, Black and White 2 are definitely on the top of my list. I remember getting the games for the first time and had such a blast playing through White 2, the story and lore, seeing new and old Pokemon together again, new areas to explore, side activities, mysteries to uncover, and stunning visuals that brought so much life to the game. It had that old-school charm meshed with new and exciting features which just made the game feel special. Played through White 2 again this summer. Revisiting and completing the game was really fun and challenging, and it gives you plenty of post-game to dabble around with as well (not to mention catching all the legendaries out there). You're right. Game Freak doesn't make them like they used to, but I'm glad they still make them. It'd be great if they gave their new games more care and attention like you said. Hope all is going well! ^w^
My best friend keeps hounding me to get Scarlet/Violet just so we can co-op. I'm like we've got other games we're supposed to already be playing co-op but we don't. Plus I haven't finished Shield.
I actually found 2 Shinies when I was playing violet when it was still near release, first one was roly coly when I was just farming the tea cups and then later on I found a sandygeist I think that's how its spelt when I was just catching Pokemon near the beach! When I first saw it I thought it was a pile of Mud! ;w; probably cause it was raining and dark in the game at the time, that was before I got the shiny charm! I wasn't even trying to search for shiny Pokemon! Also I genuinely hope everyone who see's this comment has an Amazing Day and happy holidays everyone!
I remember when I played my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Sword. I got it on Christmas along with my Nintendo Switch Lite. I remember hiding under a table as playing Sword while facetiming my friend expressing how excited I was. It is one of my favorite memories❤
I remember when me and my cousins were super into Pokemon. We didn't play the games but we watched the whose and collected cards. Sometimes, we will role play as our own characters. I started playing the games this year, first game was Sword. Sadly, my cousins grew out of Pokemon but we like to share the memories of when we were really into it.
I just saw that you applied a new thumbnail/drawing and it's very fitting to describe a bit how Pokémon Scarlet/Violet was rushed. Despite that, I haven't seen any of those issues, because I played the game alone without any other player during my playthrough. I would never dislike the Pokémon games, it's also part of my childhood.
Hey Wolfy! My favourite Pokemon Games are Crystal, Platinum, X/Y and Black2/White2 with the 7th generation getting an honourable mention too! Another factor in what happened with these games is that they also hired programmers that were fresh out of college so hopefully this will help Game Freak and the Pokemon company relax a little bit...I mean they can take time in making these games more if they already made something like Arceus. If they rushed again we may get another Sonic 06 situation...
I’m not even the biggest fan of Pokémon, but I gotta say Pokémon’s like the one franchise that never disappoints the fans! Transformers, Marvel, DC, Bionicle, and many more mess things up!
Im so happy that you still make animations! I've been watching your vid for 5 years ago! Goodluck on your journey and i hopeyou continue posting more! ❤❤
Hi wolfychu I've been watching your videos since I was 7. I am about to turn 14 you are a huge influence on my life I want to say thank you for everything you have done on TH-cam.
I agree with a lot of the points you made Wolfy. There’s a lot of handholding now when it comes to raising your Pokemon and it makes the game too easy. I miss the challenge even though it made the game slow for level grinding. I also thought the exploration was better in the 2D games. I felt more immersed. I haven’t lost my love for Pokemon, but my passion for it is kinda low right now, and I feel bad about it.
I understand you are a absolute lover of Pokemon, which unlike myself I'm an avid Pokemon lover I go on and off watching content about the franchise and thinking about playing some of the older games and some of the newer ones! (I just hope Gamefreak can fix their problems, when they work on future Pokemon titles but nice to see your opinion on the franchise in recent times Wolfy and I'll see ya next time byee!)
I love pokemon sun and moon and it was my first pokemon game I ever play and it made so much good times and wolfychu I love your video and I'm also sailor solimar art but also I love your videos so much wolfy
When you think about it, Pokemon has it pretty rough. They need to dish out a new episode every week and make new games to keep up with the series simultaneously. Actually... I don't think it would be a terrible idea if they made a full series of PMD. We only have two episodes of Explorers of Sky, which is possibly the best game of them all, one episode of Red/Blue rescue team, and two very short animations for Gates to Infinity. If they made a series based on one of them, that would give them some time to develop a new game with more polish.
@@PK3S yeah, honestly, I can never understand why they decided to call both Honkai, I mean sure there are Honkai Characters in Star Rail, be it different Versions or the Original, but other than that, there’s not much connecting the Two.
...yeah I'm going to be frank. Slowing down and taking their time to get quality is all i ever ask. I don't care if thats what patches are for, games that don't need patches turn out way better in the long run if they aren't necessary.
Funny that you mention McDonald's, since, from time to time, there are Happy Meals that include Pokemon Merchandise. Heck, McDonald's promoted Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the day it came out. I have some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet cards that came out in a Happy Meal.
@MisterHeroman I was giving the company another chance after Sword and Shield came out. Yeah it was mid, but they'll improve. They are a billion dollar company..... But much like Disney, another billion dollar company, they didn't really improve.
Hey wolfychu I love you videos i have been subscribed for 5 or more years now and I really enjoy your content I hope to become a animator just like you and the rest of the animating community and I love your animations style it’s so cute and awesome an your Vtuber channel it’s so cute there is so much cuteness I can take in but that being said stay strong stay safe stay calm and see you soon ❤🇵🇸🇺🇸
I couldn't agree more, I love Pokemon and wish they could slow down and take more time. I liked Violet, but miss wandering into random buildings and talking to people whether or not they offer you something. It made the world feel more lived in and the towns more memorable! As for my favorite Pokemon game, Emerald! It is my first as well, cementing Gen 3 as my favorite.
One of the biggest problems with pokemon game development cycle is that it can basically NEVER get delayed for any amount of time no matter how bad of a state the game is in. This is because the other branches of the pokemon company which are the merch, card game, and anime, all depend on the game having a set in stone never to be changed release date. The game will sell millions no matter how good or bad it is and merely exists to fuel the other more profitable branches of the company.
It will sell millions no matter how good or bad it is….. for now. But the way Gamefreak is going, they are alienating their fans and shoving out garbage. Even children can only put up with so much before they get bored. And if the games get worse or only remain average, they may find the sales for the games dwindling. Let’s hope Pokémon doesn’t end up with the same stigma that all Movies-turned-games end up with.
Hey Wolfy,I love the video, yknow when I first got into pokemon, the only game (when I was a kid) to read the story of,was pokemon conquest..and yet it feels so under appreciated..I want a remake of the game..in hopes more people can play it and enjoy the game,it may not be like the rest of the games, but it's a game that's close to my heart..and what truly sparked my love for the game,I hope one day I see a poketuber or pokemon fan I know make a video about it,but I enjoy your content and..I hope to see what else you do wolfy ❤
US and UM are my favorite mostly for the ability to feed and pet as well as clean your Pokémon, I do understand why people hate it but I never gave a crap around the story I just went with the flow (sometimes). then mostly play with all my Pokémon to see there sprite animation and shiny hunt and then finally finish the Pokédex on there. (P.s. i don’t know if you know this (I don’t mean this to be rude) in Pokémon arceus they added a shiny noise to go hey there’s a shiny near. Then in Pokémon S and V they didn’t put it in so you actually have to squint at your screen to go is that shiny and the only way to know is to auto battle it and if it’s not taken out it is shiny.)
i started playing the Pokemon games last year since i didn't have any Nintendo stuffs as a kid, there very fun! still on emerald tho. Great video as always! also damn i just started playing impact 3rd yesterday what a coincidence
I love pokemon as well, but the new games have definitely disappointed me. Thats why i also play pokemon fan games. Right now I'm playing through Pokemon Rejuvenation
I like your takes, you're very positive about it while being honest. I also hope they nail down the formula for these new games. My fav gens were Gens 5 and 7. I loved the story and look of gen 5, and Aloha had a great atmosphere and fun characters (it's ya boi, Guzma!)
0:38 X and Y was my first ever pokemon game and when I played it, it was one of the best games I played back on the 2/3ds and made me love Pokemon more today
I totally agree they really should make pokemon more difficult, work more on the game mechanics and give more impact in the story like how they did Pokemon XD and Pokemon coliseum those games are amazing and need to bring back mega evolutions
I see your points but i don't want Mega Evolution back. I was so relieved that the regions could finally let their culture and local battle style shine again without Mega Evolution coming in just because. It overstayed its welcome honestly. Let's Go was the only time i enjoyed it because Kanto never had a unique battle style aka mechanic. But Alola really should not have had it but it is what it is. Now Mega Evolution rules in Pokémon GO competitive, i think that's plenty
@@ShadowLightMewEndlessOceanMew I see what you mean but I feel like they gotta bring more new mega evolution but mostly bring it back to new games cause if we have the old battle gimmick combined like megas vs z-moves or gigantamax sure the other two gimmicks are meh or bleh but it could lead to different strategies in battle
@@Krookagamer Competitive was not fun in gen 7 when they allowed all battle mechanics, it was too bloated. So no thanks, let the new regions have their own thing as part of the culture. I didn't find Z-Moves or Dynamax/Gigantamax meh or bleh at all. Z-Moves should have had the full spotlight along with the Necrozma forms. Galar refreshed competitive in full with only having Dynamax/Gigantamax. And Tera Jewels are more than plenty in Paldea too. Keep Mega Evolution in the regions and games that suit it best. We will see remakes with Mega Evolution in the future (Kalos, Hoenn, Kanto being regions that saw Mega Evolution properly utalized). I hope Game Freak will continue making each region stand out in having a battle style that matches said region's culture
I'm gonna say this, I love the fact that there's ultimate routes that you're working on at the same time on Pokémon violet! like if you get bored or tired of one of the routes, you can just go and do a different one! Which is always something I've struggled with, it's hard for me to stick to something if it gets a little too repetitive-😅
I can tell the efforts that went into this. Very lovely and quite relatable. ^^ I did start with Gen 4 and I also feel like Gen 9 did let us down. I love Pokemon but it deserved WAY better.
Was not expecting a video on this topic from Wolfychu, but it's nice to know we're all on the same page regarding where the games have gone. I've been thinking about this recently as well. Things just... aren't right anymore. On top of the obvious like ScVi's performance issues, lack of customisation, losing the ability to interact with the world and so on, another problem I have with these games is that open world thing. Scarlet and Violet are not open world games. They're the same as the previous games but the things guiding the player along the level curve have been taken away. There's still a specific order you're supposed to do things, but this is never communicated to the player except small hint markers on your phone map. In fact, you're told the opposite, that you can do whatever you like, only to end up running into areas with Pokemon 10-20 levels higher than yours and it becomes obvious you're definitely not supposed to be here yet. They could've absolutely made the game scale to your level, they have the technology, Sword/Shield's Isle of Armor DLC demonstrated that. But instead they outright lie to the player that the game's open world when it's not. Also, I'm willing to bet poor Wolfychu's not found any Shinies because she missed them, both because the Shiny forms of the new Pokemon are mostly terrible, and because the overworld indicators for Shiny Pokemon from Legends: Arceus were removed in these games, for no reason.
I'd love to see Pokemon take their time and let the game stew a little longer. While I miss megas....Alot. It does bring to the forefront other gimmicks, despite me wanting to get back my megas post game at least. So many features left to get modded back in, there is demand for this.
I put a lot of work into this video so I hope you like it!! Let me know your thoughts and opinions about it too! ❤
Well I think is that it was a mistake but it's not a huge mistake alright like I have no words
I think is a pretty straight foward vid about the point of view
Btw Wolfy, have you played cassette Beasts? It released this year and it is very similar to pokemon with a few twists! Highly recommend! Also Shiny hunting is a bit easier AND the alternate colors influence their type! The story is also super trippy:3
I would agree and like this video. Especially on taking time to complete.
You can go in restaurants and the school
I actually had alot of fun with the stories in the game, and finding the little secrets that are hidden behind the interactions with your teachers
Hot take on the rivals part I think hop was a better rival than Nemona
@@McNotSassyLostChild My no. 1 favorite rivals are probably N and Gladion, both for design and story
@@McNotSassyLostChild I beg to disagree, they both are nice characters but I like nemona more because she's executed better, she's a prodigy who got to far to quick and is now alone. Seeing a new person who actually seems to have the qualities to stand with her on top was so exiting for her, that's why she's over exited most of the times
I liked hop's story of the kid who didn't make it as a trainer because they are more fit to be a professor but I feel like it's a bit strange how that's literally the same storyline as Sonia, the trio dinamics of dandel's friend group got reused for us in the same exact game, that felt pretty lazy tbh
Pray for the golden Bidoof!
A bit of topic but those chocolates that you see every easter and christmas taste so bad as well.
“I want to window shop and enter people’s homes uninvited!” 😂 had me laughing
I have a soft spot in my heart for Pokémon Black and White since they were the first Pokémon games that I played
I was also about 4 years old when the anime first came out and I loved it
Same here!
Minus the BW anime
Great soundtrack and one of my fav looks for a pokemon game
I heard a lot about gen 5 and only really understood why people loved it after playing it myself. It was truly the Golden age of pokemon, in my opinion.
Black and white game has the story profundity a lot of newer games lack, I think. It doesn't treated their public as just children and that was amazing. And my god, I love N and I'm gonna miss him all way long
P.D. Bad thing is that I lost my game advance just before entering the league :') it was horrible. I plan to re play someday because I want to experience the final part myself. But that doesn't stopped me from loving the title
I love Pokémon so much! Tysm for making this video Wolfychu! 💗💕
But they were downgrades from emerald.
I hope you and Jordon are doing well! :)
Just imagine her party, filled with the prettiest and the strongest Pokemon to walk by her side❤
I watch that series.
@@jakebeetle5957 Gotta catch em all 😉

Most nerdiest and simping thing ive heard LOL
@@TheSigma555 :3 Thanks sknahT
I always find myself coming back to this video. I don’t know why but I just enjoy hearing your voice Wolfy and your opinions of Pokémon.
Upon arriving at 5:59. I wanted to quiz myself to see if I remember your favorites from a video I saw two weeks ago.
Gen I: Eevee (fun fact: I love it too)
Gen II: Espeon
Gen III: Absol
Gen IV: Glaceon (my favorite in the bunch so great taste)
Gen V: Zorua (I have a soft side for it too)
Gen VI: Sylveon
Gen VII: Rockruff
Gen VIII: Dragapult
Gen IX: Dachsbun
Luckily the devs have stated that they realize there is a problem especially with time and that they are looking for a solution that would be beneficial for us and them. Who knows what it will be but at least it gives hope.
is this true? id love to see a source if u have it!
@@babycatto173 It was in a recent interview with one of the people at gamefreak. There was a few videos on it.
@@babycatto173It was the director of the pokemon company during one of the pokemon presents stream. To they said that they wanted to maintain the quality, wich is really a low bar.
I like that cute small animation with pikachu in the pool.
Broooooooooooooooo 5:38 caught me off guard with that "ohhhhhhh yeah........"
I’m happy to hear, you’re a big fan of Pokemon games. My first Pokemon game was Ruby and Sapphire. Happy Holidays Wolfychu. I hope you might make a Christmas video soon.
Yeah it always makes me sad when a game starts to run itself toward the ground...
9:20 YES finally my boy Bulbasaur has his own asmr video! Also thanks for the berry 😊
There will always be some Pokemon that are loved by many and disliked by many, that's not special of any generation (and anyone that says "eh, I dislike X Pokemon so don't care for the game as a whole and seeing any of the other Pokemon"... eh, sucks to have such limited interest I guess?)
For some things, who knows? Maybe as these more detailed assets get developed there will be more that can be reused to allow for new ones to fill the things that had been cut.
Overall, I like the greater focus on outdoors exploration than indoors. It just takes time to get everything improved and caught up.
I almost thought this was a highlight video about you streaming Scarlet & Violet. And fun fact: Pokémon X&Y was the first Pokémon game I ever played.
Yeah, I'll admit it it's not the same as it was before, but I mean, it's still fun to play pokemon, and I like the features of customization but good lordy it's alot of new things they keep throwing at us.

YOU'RE LITERALLY MY CHILDHOOD
It's a very high pipe dream, but if Pokemon could change at least some things it would be a improvement that not even Romhacks has attempted
1) HM doesn't need to be learned for their use, like a example, having the HM and the required medal is enough, while making them a optional move more viable
2) Rather than forgetting the move, you get to move it to a Stock of eight moves divided in two: Attack and Support, unused moves are put in a Stock
3) A MP System only for Special or powerful moves while Physical or plain ones can be used infinitely, not only making running out of PP a non issue, but making more sense storywise (Why in Arceus' name a Pikachu can only tacle 35 times but is fine to headbut someone?)
4) Rather than the plot being merely "Get the medals or their equivalent and ocassionally beat the big bad", make the Plot of the baddie the focus while making the medal hunting a sidequest with the Elite Four or again their equivalent being Postgame
5) Bring Back Gym Leader interactions outside their gyms please, i loved them in Black and White T-T
6) As a compromise for Dexit, The national Pokedex is limited to the full national AND some of past generations, not only being concise in a Lore Standpoint but also making the "Gotta Catch Em all" thing far easier, in the process i think that would allow them to make more rounded National Dexes rather than filling it with past gen ones
7) Some cues from Megaten, like six members being the initial limit, but after a Optional or plot milestone your team gets updated and all of your team being in the fight, with only some ocassions where you get back to 1v1 matches, and most likely, making interacting with catchables as an alternative for fighting them, making more sense lorewise while gameplaywise being a failsafe to not knock out accidentally that level 6 shiny Pidgey with your level 50 Kyogre
8) A minor nitpick, but rather than making Type Held items improve only the move of their type, make it improve all the moves of the Pokemon if he has the type match
9) Regular item drops, i always was irked at having to use a move or a Ability to steal items as the time saving alternate to wasting PC space praying for a chance of the pokemon to have the desired item, maybe justifying it with your Pokemon taking the item and handing it to you after defeat since he liked it
10) Hard mode, and not a cheap "Damage Sponge that onehit you" but rather a genuine "Make Gym Leaders use the same stuff you would use against them" Also not making them monotypes that you can wipe with super effective moves, but use a variety of pokemon that happen to benefit of the Type, that0s something i like from the Romhacks i played so far
11) Separate Slot for held item and berries, making using bverries and items more viable
12) And most important... More than one Save Slot and New game plus, not even a fancy one where you keep al your money and Pokemon, but keeping track of the Hall of Fame from previous playthroughts treating it as past Hall of Fame trainers
I know TPC would rather die than let Game Freak take time to make their next pokemon games polished, this video being evidence, but i hope someday at lest one of these features are added to make the games more like how we remember loving them as a kid
Wait, how did you win the eight gym? Did you grind?
@@DrawciaGleam02 A bit yes and just through trial and error cause I actually thought Pokemon was giving me a challenge for once. 😂 I huffed a lot of copium.
I appreciate the Nemona appreciation
Yeah, it definitely feels like Scarlet and Violet were an extremely mixed bag. Tons of upsides and tons of downsides. Specifically a lot more downsides than what we're used to. Hoping that the upcoming games feel more polished
Wolfy's doing a hot take!
A hot take or an honest truth?
Hot take? Yeah… no. When you look at the facts, it’s more like the hot truth.
@@mrcwillis6970yeah. Many things in this game were very obvious and couldn't be overlooked. Like, the evil trio of dangerous pokemon basically steals food and that's it, seriously don't animals do that as well?
A hot take or a pre-heated one? *Badum tss bad pun*
9:04 made me laugh, I also saw a Bidoof stuck on a tree during my playthrough, just once.😂
Btw at 6:26, I'm sorry to hear that you haven't encountered a random Shiny Pokémon in Legends Arceus & Scarlet.
My favorite has been Legends: Arceus i really hope they make another like it hopefully for Gen 5 that’d be awesome :3
Dexit 3.0: (the dissolution of access to all the prior Pokémon games by the future shut down of the Pokémon bank servers)
won’t affect me because I’ve already jumped off the instant buy for every game of Pokémon bandwagon and will now only buy a Pokémon game if it is actually good.
Love how Wolfy has improved with her art over the years. Her style is AMAZING now.
Believe me, Wolfy-san, the second part of SVDLC has got some more surprises for you.
I've always loved Pokemon. Now while I did start with platinum edition I always see myself going back to the original 3 games
I remember when I played my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Sword. I got it on Christmas along with my Nintendo Switch Lite. I remember hiding under a table as playing Sword while facetiming my friend expressing how excited I was. It is one of my favorite memories❤
I would honestly love to see a Pokémon region based on New Zealand or South Africa in the future
Hi Wolfychu, I can't believe the last time I watched u was in yr 2. You've evolved so much & you definitely deserve the subs. Ok, bye 🫶
Pokemon Acrues Was the best game ever. Nice storytelling wolfy!

I haven’t lost my love for Pokemon, but my passion for it is kinda low right now, and I feel bad about it.
i love the fact you named your meowscrada melony. im really hope they do more with melony.
Fidough and dushbun were actually inspired by how puppy skin feels like dough

"Meowscarada go play with that cute little buddy!!!"
*KILLS IT* ":3"
Dont really care for all the games but GOD i love the anime so much to the point were one of the days im gonna watch every episode
Im 16 and you made me feel so old saying x and y are 10 years old now
This vid is so cool! Ive just started watching you Wolfy but I feel like ive watched you for years haha. Keep up the good work ❤
Wolfy: Makes a video talking about newer Pokémon's problems and gets sponsored by Honkai Starrail
Some dude at GameFreak: *Punches Air Angrily*
Honkai impact. Then again, it’s easy to confuse the two if you don’t know them.
Star Rail? What are you talking about?
@@PK3S yeah, honestly, I can never understand why they decided to call both Honkai, I mean sure there are Honkai Characters in Star Rail, be it different Versions or the Original, but other than that, there’s not much connecting the Two.
@@johanstenfelt1206I accidentally read starrail instead of Impact.
@@itssharktime6560 yeah, I figured.
4:29 He’s a magical fuecoco flying through the sky!
YES! YES! SOMEONE ACTUALLY GETS IT!
Someone realized the problem with this franchise that is churning out more not-so-great content than McDonald's!
...yeah I'm going to be frank.
We all fucking said it back during gen 8, but fanboys gotta fanboy.
1:33 ME TOO
I couldn't agree more, I love Pokemon and wish they could slow down and take more time.
The gen 6 opinions are a mega hot take 🔥🔥🔥
US and UM are my favorite mostly for the ability to feed and pet as well as clean your Pokémon, I do understand why people hate it but I never gave a crap around the story I just went with the flow (sometimes). then mostly play with all my Pokémon to see there sprite animation and shiny hunt and then finally finish the Pokédex on there.
(P.s. i don’t know if you know this (I don’t mean this to be rude) in Pokémon arceus they added a shiny noise to go hey there’s a shiny near. Then in Pokémon S and V they didn’t put it in so you actually have to squint at your screen to go is that shiny and the only way to know is to auto battle it and if it’s not taken out it is shiny.)
My favorite is heartgold, Believe it or not I caught a shiny Ho-oh because of luck and I wasn’t even going for a shiny.
i started playing the Pokemon games last year since i didn't have any Nintendo stuffs as a kid, there very fun! still on emerald tho. Great video as always!
also damn i just started playing impact 3rd yesterday what a coincidence
I love pokemon as well, but the new games have definitely disappointed me. Thats why i also play pokemon fan games. Right now I'm playing through Pokemon Rejuvenation
Wolf coming back with a new video is the best thing ever, I love this channel greatly ❤
I love Pokemon so much! Scarlet/Violet are honestly my top favs. Yeah, it could be better in some areas, but I still thoroughly enjoy it so much 😊
Is the dlc worth ? Or is the base game enough ?
@@tararosabelle7368 To me, the DLC is really good.
@@tawnyacosta9091I agree as well.
I like your takes, you're very positive about it while being honest. I also hope they nail down the formula for these new games.
My fav gens were Gens 5 and 7. I loved the story and look of gen 5, and Aloha had a great atmosphere and fun characters (it's ya boi, Guzma!)
2:21 is that actually Honkai Impact 3rd graphics?
Yes
why does it look like that?@@lauwy7777
*why does wolfy sound like uhm.. meowbah- 😭💀*
I can tell the efforts that went into this. Very lovely and quite relatable. ^^
I did start with Gen 4 and I also feel like Gen 9 did let us down. I love Pokemon but it deserved WAY better.
I was playing Pokémon right now -_-
And when I clicked on the video a pokemon ad appeared
I love the fact that you bring up past clips from your gaming streams!
*Gamefreak: Who loves Pokémon?!*
*Animators: Y E S*
Omg you share the same love for gen 6 as i do😍 they were my forst pokemon games and i have never enjoyed a game that much! I adore them🥰
I'd love to see Pokemon take their time and let the game stew a little longer. While I miss megas....Alot. It does bring to the forefront other gimmicks, despite me wanting to get back my megas post game at least. So many features left to get modded back in, there is demand for this.
