I cried. I was so sorry for all my sins. I realized that it is all that I personally did wrong that brought this man to that cross. I, me, my faults, my sin, I am the reason He had to suffer and die. I watched this film, and I wish I could save Him, but how can you turn back time? What has been done, has already been done. All that was left was gratitude for what He did for me, and a strong resolve to be worthy of His sacrifice and not sin anymore, so His suffering would not be in vain.
I remember it being sold out for months, I remember seeing it, people just coming out of the theater speechless, crying, people fainting, some had seizures, just everyone from all walks of life just crying, saying, "Jesus died for us.". Even I said, "Yes, Jesus died for our sins.".
I remember going to the premier at Sherman Oaks Galleria with the whole family… I swear there were lines as far as the eye can see… and I remember stepping into the theater room and the ushers coming out and saying, “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls… this is not just a film… this is a monumental and impactful testimony. If you need to step outside to gather yourself, please do so, if you need to leave please do so as it is a strong and disturbing film to watch.” As soon as the movie began, not even 15 into the film and there were people fainting and crying their lungs out… kneeling down almost in humility. This film was the closest depiction in my opinion.
I remember opening night, me , my siblings and parents went to see it in the only time we all went together to the movies. We barley got tickets before it was all sold out for the rest of the day. As we were waiting in line to get in the theatre room , you see people coming out after seeing it and not one person had a smile. The movie airs each year on TV at Easter time, and each time, I try to watch it, but I just can't. It's too much for me to bear. I applaud anyone who made it to the end.
I still vividly remember my reaction was that I was as stiff as a lamp post and shaking in utter shock as soon as the violent scenes started until the end of the movie. So much that I was clutching the empty bag of gummy bears I bought as a snack until the color in the bag smeared due to me sweating of stress. And left the theatre in a state of shock that I couldn’t speak. Thank god I didn’t end up in the ER due to a nervous breakdown. But I will never forget that experience.
Facts! 9 out of 10 people will never shed a single tear for a movie, especially when it has intense violence, but out of that 9, 8 of them will shed a tear watching passion of the Christ. why is this? truth is, every human being's soul quietly cries out to his creator God. Whether you believe or not, your soul believes, and whenever your physical being witnesses such a powerful truth of a gruesome death, which was God's way of saying, " i am paying for your lies, your murder, your cheating, your robbery, your hate for each other, all of your evil, is being paid for, so you as a human can some day have the chance to return to your father God, and not lost to eternal damnation. This truth is what makes most cry when watching this film, even when they do not intend to. Remember, the physical body can deny Him, but the soul always knows the truth.
Another part that hit me so hard was as they were lifting the cross up and the blood was coming out, they gave you the flashback of him lifting the bread saying, "Take this all of you and eat, this is my body, which is given up for you, it is the body of the new covenenenth.".
I was say this in theaters when i was 12. I was so dam scared. I mostly closed my eyes for the whole movie. But could hear the flogging and crying in the audience. Now being saved. I watched it again. And mad this made me cry.
These reactions proves how powerful the film is. Especially since it’s about the last hours of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ❤️✝️🙏🏻 I remember the first time I watched it on television I literally hid my face and cried when it showed Him being nailed to the cross.

This movie doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what are Lord and Savior went through during those times. Most of the things they can't even show legally. Our Lord Jesus Christ "The Living God" is the most Beautiful, Strongest and Greatest Man who ever lived.
Probably the one real moviegoing experience I've had in my lifetime where every single person in the audience was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. I don't think I'll ever again have such an experience even remotely this visceral and palpable.
Even though the whole movie was real and deep I think the parts that really pushed people to the edge where when as Jesus was being lead up to the mountain to be crucified and the flashback of when he told everyone on that mountain, "I am the good sheopard, you are my sheep, I lay down my life for my sheep at my accord. Only I have the power to take my life and bring it up again, no one has that power but me, that message is from my father.".
cvm8281 what Jesus said, No one takes My life from Me. I lay it down of My own accord. And if I lay it down of My own accord, I have the power to take it up again. This commandment is from My Father. And again, I am the Good Shepherd. You are My sheep. The Shepherd lays down His life for His sheep.
I know this movie is graphic. I know. But it shows the reality of what he went through. I don't care if the New York Times think it lacked grace. It wasn't sugar coated because when Jesus was crucified it wasn't pretty. It was hard and painful, but he never complained. Those critics did not understand it all.
I just watched it for the first time tonight and I was not ready for it. Do you remember what he said on the hill? Love your enemies and pray for them that persecute you. I have tried to live by that verse my entire life.
Now why the fuck would you want the best for those that treat you like shit and make your life a living hell? That is when I say revenge is acceptable.
Mickey Deez Well almost every time someone has treated me poorly, their life proceeds to drastically reduce in quality, as they seem to face a barrage of series of unfortunate events. Call it karma, or God, or whatever you will. I've found people usually get what they deserve, no revenge necessary. You treat them well, you get good back. When I tried revenge, I received punishment too.
I haven't seen this movie but it was pretty much the talk of the town during my first year of high school. I was (and still am) surprised that a film of this nature was a huge SMASH when it came out.
You know I remember the hype people just parked out of the theater getting tickets I remember recommending it to people who weren't really church going after they saw they couldn't stop crying, girls hugging me thanking me to not stop bugging them until they saw it. Being speechless after seeing it. Cheering at the end when Jesus rose up out of his tomb at the end to be at the right hand of the father.
8 years? Wow! I just watched it again recently and I had nearly the same reaction when I first saw it. I was a mess the first time, but this time I was more prepared. But even now, it's still hard to watch. How did it affect you when you saw it?
The wrath of God that should be against me for my sins, was instead bore by a man who was without sin. As it says in Isaiah 53:5-6: "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities...by his scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on him." There has to be atonement for sin, and I am incapable of atoning for it. Jesus became my atoning sacrifice.
It was an experience! People were genuinely stunned and blown away. Mel Gibson succeeded in creating the most violent mainstream film of all time, *AND* breaking box office records. 😜
The film that almost perfectly illustrated how Jesus Christ suffered for our sin and redemption.. This also portraits so many scenes where He is speaking as a human being, and as a spiritual God himself
the most spectacular movie of all time. there is no question about it. this was the best movie made of all time. I'm litterally obsessed with it. Its beauitful and just perfect
“They blamed Jews and that’s not being loving like Jesus wanted” -🤓 There are at least 20 Bible verses that prove the Jews killed Jesus, 0 concerning the Romans…
I think the director did a really good job, he is focusing on the pain and torture quite a bit BUT at the same time he also managed to fit in the part where forgiveness comes in, and that's when you see the flash backs as Jesus was carrying the cross
Esta película genero un impacto en su momento como lo fue titanic, y hasta el dia de hoy es considerada la película clasificacion R mas taquillera y caviezel el jesus mas taquillero del cine.
The last film that moved people like this was the Exorcist...Smh..both films are masterpieces.🙏🏻r.i.p William batty and William friedkin who died aug 6-7 . He was a great director. The passion of Jesus Christ is a brilliant film. Amen
I just want to say that no movie will ever compare to the real suffering, torment and pain Jesus had to suffer. As bloody as this movie was, His death was much more cruel and horrible, even Jesus prayer was much more painful, He was in tears and in agony.
The worst part I could imagine is the emotional pain of being crucified in front of your closest friends and watching them walk away out of fear of punishment. The most powerful element is the fact that Christ CHOSE to do this, he wanted to do this.
TONIGHT, GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 15,2022, This is the 3rd time we’ve seen Mel Gibson’s “THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST” with Jim Caviezel in lead role as JESUS! THE TORTURE, THE TORMENT, THE BRUTALITY, IS STILL HARD TO WATCH! IT MAKES YOU CRY BECAUSE NO HUMAN BEING DESERVES THIS BUT H E TOOK ON THE SINS OF ALL; PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE SO THAT ALL MAY GAIN ENTRANCE INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN FOR WHO SO EVER BELIEVES JESUS IS THE SAVIOR FOR ALL MANKIND! MORE AWARDS SHOULD’VE BEEN HANDED OUT FOR THIS FILM! ANTICIPATING THE SEQUEL!
Thank you for sharing this. It is remarkable that I was only eight years old when I observed the reactions of individuals on the Spanish channel. The statement made by the individual, "They blame Jews for Jesus's death," holds significant relevance in today's context.
Because it was the jews it wasnt the romans because the romans wanted nothing to do with Jesus crucifixion it was the jews that wanted Jesus crucified ciathas was a jew
Mel Gibson said it's almost done/done but in post-production. It's pretty secret, but it's coming "soon." It's going to show the harrowing of Hell, supposedly.
This could have been so much more realistic....I pray for those that aren't exactly sure of what He went through have just a small taste of reality. Crucifixion was beyond brutal.
Even though the movie was hard to watch with all the pain and suffering Jesus endured but it showed how much he loved us and endured the pain and torture for us to repay our debt to god for all the sins we committed
Brutally honest yet in a good way that touches the soul deeper than any other movie about Jesus Christ ever has. I don't think this movie is anti-semetic, because The "Powers that Be" in every nation would have done the same thing to Jesus Christ just as the Jewish religious leaders had.. Christ died for all mankind- so apparantly no nation can brag they would have acted any differently. Fallen man is the same everywhere. All humanity crucified Jesus.
? Caifas was the shitty one along with some 7 at most but the were parte of Sanhedrin. They got jealousy of Him. But Yeshua knew what was going to happened, nevertheless it was painful .
people always talk about how the film is so depressing. yes, it is depressing, but it leaves you with a good feeling at the end of the movie (watch the movie and youll understand). although the only thing that pissed me off about this movie was the final scene. it was like thrown at the last minute. other than that, great movie. one of my favorites.
They say that it was way more brutal and bloody on what they did to Jesus 2,000 years ago. They cant determine if it was a human or an animal because of the blood. My allegiance is to Jesus forever.
Anti-Semitic? It's just the gospel truth, he came to his own and his own received him not. That does not mean the film has prejudice against the Jewish race.Keep in mind Christ was Jewish himself and lived surrounded by Jewish people who rejected him.Besides,he was hung on a ROMAN cross. You think Jesus couldn't have immediately had legions of angels to protect him from this death?Sure he could have but how then would the scriptures about his death be fulfilled?
I have never cried so hard at any “movie”. Weather you believe in Jesus and what he did. It is a mans sacrifice. It hurt my stomach so bad and my heart. I did. Even if you don’t believe in any of it. It is a very sad film.

I can’t believe kids went and saw this! I was like 16 when I watched it and it was almost too graphic for me!
I seen this in the theatre and all i can say is DAMN ! when they whipped him i felt every lash
I know this movie is graphic. I know. But it shows the reality of what he went through. I don't care if the New York Times think it lacked grace. It wasn't sugar coated because when Jesus was crucified it wasn't pretty. It was hard and painful, but he never complained. Those critics did not understand it all.
I agree. This is like a reminder of how gruesome the human race can be and we have to be able to understand that.
+Mickey Deez you are so bitter.
+Jerod Miller I'm not being bitter. I just believe that you should get what you give.
If somebody were to fuck up my life, I would wish for them to be fucked over. If it doesn't work, I will fuck their lives up myself.
I haven't seen this movie but it was pretty much the talk of the town during my first year of high school. I was (and still am) surprised that a film of this nature was a huge SMASH when it came out.
2019
So deep, my soul is crying watch this movie until now
2019 should re release it to remind ppl of his message
You know I remember the hype people just parked out of the theater getting tickets I remember recommending it to people who weren't really church going after they saw they couldn't stop crying, girls hugging me thanking me to not stop bugging them until they saw it. Being speechless after seeing it. Cheering at the end when Jesus rose up out of his tomb at the end to be at the right hand of the father.
jesus is my god and my savior Amen
JESUS is my GOD and my SAVIOUR. Amen.
The "passion" of the Christ means the "suffering" of the Christ
8 years? Wow! I just watched it again recently and I had nearly the same reaction when I first saw it. I was a mess the first time, but this time I was more prepared. But even now, it's still hard to watch. How did it affect you when you saw it?
now its 16 years
The wrath of God that should be against me for my sins, was instead bore by a man who was without sin.
I hope mel gibson make more movie about Jesus in the future
The passion of the christ ''RESURECTION''. I am waiting❤❤
I remember watching the making of this movie in TV back in 2004. So sad that I didn't get to watch this movie on theaters.
This movie has aged like fine wine
the most spectacular movie of all time. there is no question about it. this was the best movie made of all time. I'm litterally obsessed with it. Its beauitful and just perfect
I love the passion it is one of the best and most realistic way to tell the most important love story ever written down
“They blamed Jews and that’s not being loving like Jesus wanted” -🤓
There are at least 20 Bible verses that prove the Jews killed Jesus, 0 concerning the Romans…
We all are guilty...since he died for the sins of the World
Real
I think the director did a really good job, he is focusing on the pain and torture quite a bit BUT at the same time he also managed to fit in the part where forgiveness comes in, and that's when you see the flash backs as Jesus was carrying the cross
Esta película genero un impacto en su momento como lo fue titanic, y hasta el dia de hoy es considerada la película clasificacion R mas taquillera y caviezel el jesus mas taquillero del cine.
3:48 atleast one person got the point spot on
The last film that moved people like this was the Exorcist...Smh..both films are masterpieces.🙏🏻r.i.p William batty and William friedkin who died aug 6-7 . He was a great director. The passion of Jesus Christ is a brilliant film. Amen
Now that Satan is exerting his will all over the world, It needs to be re-released, now!
Great movie! Jews whine about everything that isn't made by them.
i just finished watching the movie on youtube and yes it was a little bit terrific but it showed the reality.
Watched this movie so many times and I sob every time
When does part 2 come out?
Mel Gibson said it's almost done/done but in post-production. It's pretty secret, but it's coming "soon." It's going to show the harrowing of Hell, supposedly.
This could have been so much more realistic....I pray for those that aren't exactly sure of what He went through have just a small taste of reality. Crucifixion was beyond brutal.
Yes it was. Mel toned crucifixion down, he openly admits it. And I believe it was a good call to tone it down.
wow... how quick we forgot our Lord... America... we have forgotten our Lord once again!
this girl in my class, her uncle played jesus in the passion of the christ
John 15:18-27 Jesus Christ: if the world hated you remember that it hated me first.
The most brutal but powerful movie ever made. Amen.
Even if you're not even religious, watch it
This movie is Epic!!!
Possibly the most accurate easter movie ever
I had to see it twice, once with my youth group, and then again with my grandparents. It was very rare to see a movie with my grandparents
Tis movie touched my heart and soul.jesus christ suffered so much to connect humanity to god.
Mel Gibson thankyou
The Passion of the Christ is a semi ACCURATE depiction of the Crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Even though the movie was hard to watch with all the pain and suffering Jesus endured but it showed how much he loved us and endured the pain and torture for us to repay our debt to god for all the sins we committed
1:00
Kid, wait 20 years. It'll be nothing but Marvel/Disney movies lol
Thank you GOD
Amazing film and so much Truth !! God bless Mel Gibson!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH MEL GIBSON TO SHOW TO THE WORLD HOW JEWS ARE. PEACE BE ON YOU MEL GIBSON
Yep it was way worse then the movie and i will never watch the passion
Anti-Semitic? It's just the gospel truth, he came to his own and his own received him not. That does not mean the film has prejudice against the Jewish race.Keep in mind Christ was Jewish himself and lived surrounded by Jewish people who rejected him.Besides,he was hung on a ROMAN cross. You think Jesus couldn't have immediately had legions of angels to protect him from this death?Sure he could have but how then would the scriptures about his death be fulfilled?
I was there. I couldn't get into a showing for about two weeks.
2:57 In the words of the great iShowSpeed, *_"WHAT YOU MEAN!?"_*
The movie was so painful to watch that my girlfriend (which was a jew) became a Christian like me.
4/4/2023: Amen. Praise THE LORD.
this movie inspired many to be saved
That was the days
The sign of a great book is that it reads you more than you read it.
This is that.
I have never cried so hard at any “movie”. Weather you believe in Jesus and what he did. It is a mans sacrifice. It hurt my stomach so bad and my heart. I did. Even if you don’t believe in any of it. It is a very sad film.
