Yeah I always much preferred the building aspect of minecraft. When I play newer versions I find myself getting distracted by all the side quests/ myriad of blocks available. Alpha/ beta MC caters to my preferences perfectly.

@@kajk5477 you just made me realize what’s so appealing about alpha to me. I have a bad tendency to succumb to “bigger is better” mindsets when playing games so I want the newest versions with all the dlc etc etc. I realize that the limits are what drove my desire to come up with things to do rather than look for things that are put in place for me to do. I even realized this when going back to modern vanilla in its relative simplicity after playing solely modded for years when i first “fell off” of minecraft. Good times, I miss when it really felt like “let’s do this” instead of “oh man what do I do”

The old alpha Minecraft gave me chills because of the fog, the old authentic textures of the game, items and blocks limitations that forces you use your creativity, the music playing in background, and so much good old memories from childhood, this makes

Started crying when the music came in, every world I've ever made has been lost because I've changed computers or just deleted them. Only thing that ever stayed the same was the music, and in such a simple game (at least simple back then) it was the nicest touch to a game that never limited my creativity. Which is still one of my biggest problems. I can't thank this game enough for providing a non-toxic online platform to have fun, especially in reflection to today's standards of 'safe' online environment.

It didn't feel like a sandbox anymore after beta 1.8. I can make a world now on the current update and only care about it for an hour. If I made an alpha/early beta world, I would be dedicated to it. It's crazy how when you play old games you used to play when you were younger it not only brings nostalgia, but it also makes you desire to feel like a kid again when you build that cool incinerator.

I recall looking through some old maps on planetminecraft, and by god this video immediately reminded me of some of the building techniques I saw in those old maps.
Like the chests at 2:14, I saw a massive storage room filled with seemingly nonsense with chests all in that staircase pattern. That was something that instantly stood out to me in this video, and just isn't something you see anymore.

I read the title and expected to see modern building techniques and styles only just in Alpha. I was pleasantly suprised to see you perfect captured the spirit of these earlier versions. Back then you really had to be creative with whatever you built and to me, builds had more significance to the player and better represented what kind of player you are.

Hard to really explain how I feel about this game but this video single-handedly recreated the feeling I had as a kid. This game has become a shell of its former self, it's simplicity is what made it so good, seeing it flooded with microtransactions and all these new items and stuff isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't feel like Minecraft. I find myself playing the game less and less, but nothing will ever make me love the game any less. Once the music kicked on at 1:29 I just sat in my chair at my desk, thinking about how good things used to be. A game to me that cannot be rewritten or replaced.

I started playing in Beta 1.1 after the bright green grass and trees stopped being a thing. Before then, I watched people like SeaNanners play Alpha versions of the game. You can look at modern releases and it's undeniably Minecraft, but it feels so far detached from what Minecraft originally was. Those older versions had an unmatched presence. The community was small, but passionate, and updates felt more impactful. Minecraft today is far more advanced and has so much more content, but it can't compare to the memories of what it was. Minecraft isn't a bad game by any means, but us veterans are often thinking of what Minecraft used to be before when we play it today.

after years playing the versions of the game distributed by AnjoCaido when i was a kid, and more time playing a 2012 version of the game (until last week to be more precise), i finally bought the official version with the money from my first job. I spawned in a new world and made a hobbit hole as my base. when i went fishing for salmon and cod, something i thought was going to be super chill, i was attacked by those new drowned zombies with that throwing thingy. no armour on, as it was my second day. after almost being killed i spotted a turtle. then a fox. then a parrot. then a dolphin. then i noticed there were a ton of new blocks, lush caves and massive caves. and as weird as it sounds, i felt intimidated by the game. i didn't know what anything did, i didn't know how to explore, and i felt like my hobbit hole was not pretty enough. idk, i'm enjoying the game, but for the first time e was ""scared"" to play, scared to build something ""wrong", to miss a one in a million drop bc i dont know what it does, scared to mess up. the game, at least for me, went from being something relaxing to a game where you need to build the craziest buildings, the most efficient item farms, use every different block etc etc.
but it is still fun tho
ps.: i was AMAZED by the new lush caves, they look soooo good (and intimidating too)

I genuinely miss the older versions of Minecraft.
I can't fully articulate it yet, but it seemed so much more robust. I'm not one to give in to nostalgia, but newer versions just feel so lifeless, cold even. With how the world was, it truly felt like you were exploring an alien world, with literally anything and everything to discover. Sure, we may have more features now, but every update in the past few years has stripped the heart and soul from Minecraft and what was once a unique and creative experience is just a dull, manufactory simulator 2k25. Adding hunger was probably the point where Minecraft really began losing it's vision, and it kills me how people don't recognise it. That, or their too young to remember.
I miss Minecraft. The true Minecraft.

    • @kajk5477
      @kajk5477  ปีที่แล้ว

Very well said. Exactly, the adventure update including features like hunger was the first big departure from classic minecraft, and the time when the decline in game quality started. Of course that's up for debate; some people like the more action-oriented aspects of minecraft but I much prefer the simplicity and creativity that beta1.7.3 and earlier versions encouraged.

The very first version of mineccraft I remember playing was release 1.3.2 in 2012. Something about the alpha textures and no smooth lighting feels very cozy, however.

And with quite a bit of diamonds, wow.
I love this. And I am glad that new videos from old versions are being made.
And to serenade this peacefully epic tour, Mice On Venus, by the one and only C418... Lovely....

i always prefered beta 1.8.1 and 1.2.5 simply because the amount of mods that came out then, was the time i started playing MC aswell as the time mods like build craft came out, you made your own gameplay with mods and it felt so nostalgic

Something so eerie about seeing a "2021 Tour" of Alpha, feels almost illegal to even be playing Alpha, like you are time travelling in a way back to a simpler time.

There's a reason why one of the only versions of Minecraft I play is 1.2.5. First it gives the simplicity and wonder of what the world used to be back when i was a young kid. Second, without the feel of completionism it makes for just another exploration and building game. Just like it always should have been. Don't get me wrong, the updates these days are dope but I sense a great discourse sometimes with the community and the devs at Microsoft and Mojang. Trying to fill an agenda rather than listen to the community about real problems in the game world.

Something about the lighting in the old versions just appeals way more to me than the lighting in the newer versions, I don't really know what though
And cobblestone + wood + glass + stone slabs is peak base design, they can add as many blocks as they want, the combination of these blocks is just too comforting
