That little wire that you mentioned at around 6:00, did you take it back apart and install that before running it? I haven’t really looked at my plates yet 1 by 1 but so far I don’t see that wire so I may have to order one. I can see the grooves where it’s supposed to go
Yes, but I have also had one that did not have it, I believe (may be wrong) its intended to make the clutch not drag as much, but I cant tell a difference.
@@DeWoodysShop okay because I want to put my clutch back together but since I saw that I purchased one so now might as well wait and put it in. But it won’t harm the bike to not put it in?
No only one according to Yamaha and the parts listing. The only one behind the nut is number 22. www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2004/yzf-r1-yzfr1s/clutch There is another one behind the inner basket.
Hey my clutch rod (the one with the teeth that go into the hole) is really wobbly. Is it supposed to be just free. It moves around when I’m trying to line up the clutch cover
Thanks alot for making this video. I have 2013 yamaha r1 I've been trying toget goin for almost 3.5 years. Has been sitting in shops collecting dust. (Basically what it was doin in my storage unit.) At this point, I'm fed up with motorcycle shops. I'm not sure how much or is there a big difference between the 04 & 13 r1 mechanic wise. Im using your videos to put my engine back together. I need wind therapy!!!.. Thanks again.
@@DeWoodysShop picked up an 04 R1 for a screaming deal but it had a noise. Turns out it was just a broken rotor for the generator. Easy fix, not quite what I had in mind (spun bearing causing knock) but that's ok. Probably gonna double or triple money spent on this bike selling it.
Mostly losts of scrubbing. I use a lot of simple green and gunk engine degreeser. The gel type is the best when you can find it. Link - amzn.to/3nyeauD
Im have a sound coming from my clutch case area, i checked out the oil pump chain and it was pretty loose, would you happen to know whats to loose for it? It moves around 1/2” its a 2013 yamaha R1
I have not personally worked on a 13 personally, but they are generally pretty loose. I dont have one to look at easily right now, but i would guess 1\4-1\2 slack. If you can make it skip a tooth trying to turn the pump sprocket its too lose for sure. Found this. www.r1-forum.com/threads/2011-r1-oil-pump-chain.630905/
@@DeWoodysShop apparently its normal how mine is, turns out that wasnt the cause of sound, i put it in nuetral and when i pull the clutch in it sounds like a scratching sound, not sure if its the clutch pressure plate or the clutch boss assy

Hey woody, isnt there supposed to be a another larger washer behind the one under the nut?

Where did you get those vise grips from? I can't find them.
I think they were just motion pro from Amazon
