There is so much nuance on this. Running away was a rash foolish decision and it was driven by Anger, anger drives rash foolish decisions.
And also, a rash idea only an 11 year old would follow through with.
But anger is as necessary as any of the emotions. The ultimate reason anger built up was that Riley repressed her natural sadness at having to leave her old life and friends because her mother asked her to be "our happy girl" to help the family. Riley became depressed (indicated by the control board turning grey) unable to feel her real emotions. Not being in touch with her real feelings allowed anger to build up until she made a rash decision. At the finale her parents love allowed her to express and experience her repressed sadness so she got in touch with all her feelings again.
Was it driven by Anger, or was it the pressure to suppress her feelings during a time of significant personal upheaval?
@@DgShadowChocolate Oh yeah, because every humans after 11 becomes totally reasonnable and would never follow through a rash foolish decisions driven by anger. It is known.
@@thewonkyembouchure Not mutually exclusive. I'd say the pressure to suppress her feelings during a time of significant personal upheaval (bad decision made by the Joyful side of Riley) ultimately made her angry, which pushed her to make another bad decision but this time driven by Anger.
Great reaction keep it up..👍
Going to see InisdeOut on Friday. I love this film and you did it justice. Thank you for taking the time to react to these movies and edit and all.
Have you seen Encanto? And I am sure that several of us will ask for CoCo.
Everyone's initial thought is to drive sadness away like Joy wants to, but at the end of the day everyone needs a little bit of sadness, it was actually the trigger point for a lot of the Joyful memories for Riley.
What's baffling is that some adults initially spurn Sadness' contribution to maintaining emotional wellbeing. We're adults; surely we know that emotional states are interconnected.
@@thewonkyembouchure it's because of portrayal. At first in the movie, we're watching from Joy's perspective, and they make her seem like someone who is only messing with things and causing trouble. So you assume the writers meant for her to be an obstacle, that she's meant to be an issue to overcome somehow. But it's until later we see her perspective and understand the writers wrote her that way in the beginning only for us to go through the same journey of understanding as Joy did. Now whenever I see reactions to the movie, I have the complete opposite feelings as the first time I watched it. I get so annoyed at Joy for not letting Sadness do her job and trying to take away one of her core memories, because it's clear with context that she has not been allowed to participate and has only been driven away. That core memory was probably one of the only times she ever did something important, that she got _something._ Probably overthinking it, but I like to do that.
25:00 Bing Bong dies.............. destroyed me. :(
I looove looove loooove eating needles!!
That part made me sad
I love inside out
Tasting germX is so fun an awesome!! It’s like the power juice!!
Great reaction. I tend to suggest two underrated movies R.I.P.D. and Tomorrowland.
Watch inside out 2 best in the trilogy
I love it
I just realized something ... Riley is not their biological child ... at least not both of the parents. Riley's eyes are blue, and both parents' eyes are brown. If you understand genetics, you understand that Riley is not (both of) their child.
Well that may be true, but it could also be that her eye and hair colour are due to recessive genes.
Inside Out 2 is so much better. Riley has more character and autonomy in it. Every time I see that kid's face online, i tear up a bit. Felt so bad for her, she's so me
I wouldn't say it's better. The first one is the highest bar Disney/Pixar's ever set. The second one gets about....80-85% there.
It's not better. I thought that was universally agreed upon.
Both are good in their own way. They both have different things they may do 'better' than the other. It's all down to opinion
I liked the second one more, personally. Made me cry like a baby at the end lol
Has anybody else noticed that Riley is the first non-binary character in The Pixar canon? All of the other characters have emotions that are the same gender as the character. Riley, on the other hand, has both female AND emotions, making her non-binary. Way to go Pixar! Thumbs up
I’m pretty sure the reason they did this is so that people can visualize what these emotions look like without any different changes since she’s the main character
Hate to break it to you but that's not what it is at all. You might want to go and see what the psychologists that helped make the movie had to say and why they are shown how they are. Notice at the end Mom's emotions are all female ran by sadness as it also makes up empathy among others which is primarily a female dominated trait. Dad is ran by anger which also becomes aggression and boisterous primarily male dominated traits. When you dont have proper emotional growth then you end up have non matching emotions. It's a science thing.
Interesting concept! My initial thought is that maybe the combination of “feminine” and “masculine” characters portraying the emotions of an 11 year-old are due to Riley being pre-pubescent. Perhaps the parents’ various archetypes developed a specific gender over years of social conditioning? I could be totally wrong, so I’d love to hear alternate interpretations!
@@theconstitutionalveteran5778 Ask three different psychologists the same question you're going to get five different answers. Why are you so reticent to believe your own eyes. Intrinsically, Riley is both male and female.
I'm not sure if I'd call her non-binary... yet, but she does seem tomboyish, which could explain it. My biggest question isn't why none of the emotions look like her unlike *all* of the other characters.
