Since she was taking up the seat closest to the door, I figured that the easiest solution would be her shifting further down the bench than having the blind man walk past her. So, I go and inform her that a blind man is coming. The exchange went as follows: Me: A blind man is coming Woman: I'm sorry what? Me: A blind man is coming Woman: I'm Pregnant Me: Congratulations, but he's still blind. As I said this I pointed her towards the approaching blind man(he had just entered her line of sight) Blind man: Yup, I'm still blind. She shifted further down. Blind man sits down. I hop off at the next stop.
Story 5. Thats a really serious issue. A couple things I would suggest would be 1) couples therapy. Having a professional who understands psychology might be helpful with breaking through this barrier your husband is having, and could act as a mediator 2) telling your husband that you two need to have a serious conversation, or bringing it up at an appropriate time, and preface it by saying that you might cry, but that that's okay, and that apologizing isn't allowed. That way, the conversation can't be ended prematurely and to apologize, the husband needs to actually express an understanding of what the issue is. Ex, "sorry I hurt your feelings," vs "I understand now that by imposing my anxiety onto you, I'm stressing you out and instead need to communicate when I'm anxious as opposed to lashing out"
On that last story with his wife's smaller appetite, I almost wouldn't be surprised if a Doctor could verify she's got a differently built body that can't support the same eating habits as him. It sounds to me, she's literally got a different constitution when it comes to food. I think she should try and verify it medically to show that his concerns are not valid.
actually no, it's more meant for babies, mothers, and elderly, so I might be ashamed to say this, yet disabled adults can be able to sit in the other seats just fine, if it's nothing physical that is.

Story 5: I can see what the husband would think but that is still no excuse for attacking op like that for her eating habits. He has no right to step in and try to control. And on top of that knowing her past yet still being like that is disgusting. If a person trusts you enough to tell you their trauma you should NEVER under ANY circumstances use that against them in any way.

I agree and disagree. She is being a bit over protective, but I feel like if she is having those feelings she needs to talk to her bf about them or it will hurt their relationship in the long run. It would help her to talk to him about it and it would be good for the longevity of the relationship.
on the story about the eating habbits: it's proven that small potions over the day is way healthier than a few big meals where you feel full after finshing. I for one only eat when I'm really hungry and don't just feel like eating plus I always eat at different times so my body won't get used to fixed times and say "I'm hungry" (really try eating you're meals at different times every day, you'll notice that your body is only gonna be hungry when you really need it).
If you're in a relationship where ypu don't feel like you can speak freely with your partner, that's not a healthy relationship. Speaking from experience here.

story 4: That just sounds like a legit psychological problem. Either something happened you're not aware of that could be worked through with short-term therapy, or there's something deeper that you're not aware of because you don't know every bit of her history.

The last story sounded like classic Asperger's. He wanted to make your day great by treating you to the chowder, and I think he's equivocating chowder with having a special day. If you want to preserve that relationship, I think you need to look out for those false connections and try to disrupt them. If you keep challenging those connections in a kind way, in my experience, they'll open their minds and start trying to expand their mental connections themselves.

While I agree 90% I also disagree. I think it's normal to have those insecurities at first, especially if they have been longtime friends. Story 3: My best friend's ex use to be lowkey homophobic. When we, she and I (a gay man), hung out, it was always shopping and brunch, the gay best friend stuff that was fun, but not my whole personality. My best friend and I would hang out by ourselves watching horror movies, playing video games, studying for exams and he also would get me gifts, mostly novel adaptions of movies and games and plushies. She would get pissed and constantly ask if he was "still straight". Like, girl. He's my brother from another mother and she knows I prefer older men. Yet she thinks I should be the stereotypical GBF instead of the awkward ADHD horror nerd who grew up with my friend. Long story short, he hated her questioning his sexuality for having a gay best friend while she thought I was trying to steal him from her. Like I said, we grew up together and I see him as a little brother. So he broke it off and is now with a chaotic weeb I would die for.
Last story; theres studies showing that eating small (but healthy) meals throughout the day about 6 times a day is much better for you than eating one or two large meals a day

I understand about the employee bathroom but one time an employee let me use it because it was an emergency (I guess they didn’t want pee on the floor of the bank). If I had fallen it was my fault. I’m just grateful I didn’t piss myself. I don’t understand why would you sue the people who did you a favor?
I have ppl all the time they to get into our backroom for the bathroom because our only customer bathroom up front. We don't allow, besides security reason, is because we pass large equipment through that hallway and right in the middle after leap frog is the employee bathroom
Story 4 sounds a lot like depression symptoms, they don't really clarify if bad mood is referring to aggression or depression, but when he said that she is great one day then back to square one sounds a lot like depression, and considered she used to he a single parent from a not so great relationship, it's a really possibility. I'd talk to her about it, but don't be suggestive, and just be slow with it, it takes time to get to know the triggers that will randomly affect her day. edit: I say this as someone with depression, and simply dropping something in the kitchen, or a text left on read for too long (both ways) can make a great day the worst day ever
As a disabled person, if those front seats are taken I simply ask nicely if someone not visibly disabled (pregnancy is a temporary disability). If they can’t move and I am using my cane that day I take the next closest seat. I don’t have much choice with my walker or scooter so I’ve missed the bus before since others need the same access I do. No need to act entitled.
Ice cream story: OP, your husband's need to control every crumb you eat is not okay. The fact that you were hit by your parents over not cleaning your plate is not okay. It's inexcusable. (I was hit, and whenever I hear yelling, or the sound of someone hitting someone, I go into a panic attack because deep down there's a girl who was hit, and also bullied every day in school for two years. During my panic attacks, I often feel like I'm going to faint. I had a panic attack in Walmart when I heard a parent screaming at her crying child, then slapped her for crying. The panic attack came. I had to stop, and try to maintain my composure, all while trying to tell myself that I'm safe, I'm okay, that mean woman won't hurt you, it's not about you, this is about her, and her actions speak volumes.) OP and her husband need to go to marriage counseling, and if they can't find a way to resolve this, then divorce should be considered.
We customers probably just do t know. I’ve always used the bathrooms in the front (for customers) if I needed to. Costco does have to have employee bathrooms as most companies do.
How she describes it it would be the same as if the friend was a guy or non-binary or if she went to her female friend to get an outside opinion on an ongoing relationship issue. It’s not a red flag to have outside confidants that you can trust to help you work through any issues that aren’t being resolved within a timely manner. It’s actually a red flag that she’s looking to put distance between them when she doesn’t have a reason to be jealous.

Story 5: If I were in OPs shoes, I would care a lot more about the fact my husband took the time and effort to plan a surprise and drive multiple hours for a meal I'd been looking forward to, rather than the experience of the meal itself. It really is the thought that matters, so I think the husband shouldn't worry too much about whether or not his wife's appetite may not be 100% at the time of the meal.
Story 4 it sounds like O.P.’s girlfriend is bipolar. Manic-depressives go in cycles like that. My stepson is the very same way. The most wonderful human being in the world and suddenly the world is coming to an end. Try couples therapy to ease her into it then the therapist can get her help. It’s a chemical imbalance in the brain.
For Story 4 I feel like the boyfriend is just being so dramatic like people have mood swings and maybe she's just having flashbacks of when she came from like she had a tragic past and so you can obviously tell maybe she's not over that and some people get over things easier than other people do so I think for Story 3 that he's just being so dumb

Some ppl are really insane when it comes to bus seats. I admit i put my bag in inner seat and i was on outise seat but... There was like 2 ppl and around 50 sits free. Then some older lady gets in and demands that i move coz she wants the seat where i put my bag. I pointed out she can literally sit anywhere else nd she started shouting that i am rude and youngling (i was like 19 back then) do not respect their elders. I said respect goes both ways and she lost it. Some other Karen joined her in her rant. I simply puted my headphones and ignored them till i had to leave.
Last story: husband has deep-rooted issues with food that haven’t been resolved. It isn’t a control issue since he is doing well elsewhere in the relationship. He may need therapy to work this out.

I understand about the employee bathroom but one time an employee let me use it because it was an emergency (I guess they didn’t want pee on the floor of the bank). If I had fallen it was my fault. I’m just grateful I didn’t piss myself. I don’t understand why would you sue the people who did you a favor?

I have ppl all the time they to get into our backroom for the bathroom because our only customer bathroom up front. We don't allow, besides security reason, is because we pass large equipment through that hallway and right in the middle after leap frog is the employee bathroom
Story 4 sounds a lot like depression symptoms, they don't really clarify if bad mood is referring to aggression or depression, but when he said that she is great one day then back to square one sounds a lot like depression, and considered she used to he a single parent from a not so great relationship, it's a really possibility. I'd talk to her about it, but don't be suggestive, and just be slow with it, it takes time to get to know the triggers that will randomly affect her day.
edit: I say this as someone with depression, and simply dropping something in the kitchen, or a text left on read for too long (both ways) can make a great day the worst day ever

As a disabled person, if those front seats are taken I simply ask nicely if someone not visibly disabled (pregnancy is a temporary disability). If they can’t move and I am using my cane that day I take the next closest seat. I don’t have much choice with my walker or scooter so I’ve missed the bus before since others need the same access I do. No need to act entitled.

We customers probably just do t know. I’ve always used the bathrooms in the front (for customers) if I needed to. Costco does have to have employee bathrooms as most companies do.

Story 5: If I were in OPs shoes, I would care a lot more about the fact my husband took the time and effort to plan a surprise and drive multiple hours for a meal I'd been looking forward to, rather than the experience of the meal itself. It really is the thought that matters, so I think the husband shouldn't worry too much about whether or not his wife's appetite may not be 100% at the time of the meal.

Some ppl are really insane when it comes to bus seats. I admit i put my bag in inner seat and i was on outise seat but... There was like 2 ppl and around 50 sits free. Then some older lady gets in and demands that i move coz she wants the seat where i put my bag. I pointed out she can literally sit anywhere else nd she started shouting that i am rude and youngling (i was like 19 back then) do not respect their elders. I said respect goes both ways and she lost it. Some other Karen joined her in her rant. I simply puted my headphones and ignored them till i had to leave.
