    I used Opcode Vision, Studio Vision, Cubase on Atari ST, Bias Deck, Logic and Reason but now that I started fooling around in Ableton Live I actually get things done like I used to in the good ol' Vision. I love your presentation of this DAW and was already happy I started using the trial, now you make me feel better about spending 500 Euro on the Suite soon.

    • @LesVegasMusic

      Hi Rayder! Thanks for watching and for your comment! I forgot all about Opcode! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and that it helped you to consider purchasing Ableton. It is an expensive application but if it's what you love and enjoy more than anything else, I believe it is truly worth it and I never have any problems with it so... not much to complain about. It's great. Especially with the new features in 11 with track comping. I'll have to do an updated video showing my favorite new features. I hope to see you around again soon! Thanks again. 🙏🏼

      @@LesVegasMusic Everything after Studio Vision was disappointing to me but Ableton Live brings back a good workflow finally. I will have to buy it to make my hobby reignite. And hope to have some leftovers for plugins. Would be cool to see new videos from you.

      @@rayderrich That's great to hear. I will be putting out many new videos on Ableton starting in October. If there's anything in particular you would like to learn let me know and I'll add it to the list!

    Ableton is the only DAW I could get to grips with after using stand alone sequencers in the 80s/90s :-)

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad to hear that! It's certainly my favorite for production. And though it's a near-perfect DAW for my workflow, it can stand a few improvements in recording and mixing. Namely the ability to record and playback audio at higher sample rates than 44k, a proper way to comp multiple take recordings and unlimited return channels. There are work-arounds for most of these things but there is room for improvement here.

    I'm relatively new to DAWs and music production in general. I find FL Studio much easier to use than Ableton. The latter I found very confusing and I think would need a tutor whereas FL Studio is easier to grasp through practice.

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      wave runner Thanks for watching and for your input! Yes, many people like FL Studio. I definitely used it myself before Ableton. It was nice using the step sequencer to easily program rhythm tracks but for live audio and doing a bit more advanced work, I found Ableton to have a lot of really great features! Also, Ableton makes it really easy to learn because if you roll over any button or area in the app, it tells you what it does. Really nice!

  • @ipoponq
    @ipoponq 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man, nice video... but there's so much wrong with saying: "Oh, this one, this feature, no other DAW has it, whereas features like "retrospective record", "midi scale" feature which doesn't allow you to play our of scale, "one button instead of chords".. Logic Pro X has thoughts for years. You can do that in Reaper too. And those aren't even my main daws, but I know they can do it. I pretty sure cubase has that "retrospective record" and "midi scales" too.
    I'm surprised you said you are proficient in other daws while keep saying those things. Instead I'd focus on "ableton smoothly adjusts all items when changing BPM" or "ableton's workflow which lets you keep and chose versions", just as you mentioned. But some other words are way too misleading for other people who know little about daws and just wanna figure out how they different and what best suits them.

    What about Bitwig?

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's one of the few I haven't tried. I've heard a lot of really good things about it but ultimately, people seem to get fed up with bugs and crashing. It seems to me they may not have a big enough team in place over there to keep up with everything they need to at this time.

    • @swires1
      @swires1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LesVegasMusic Ok coincidentally I just received a special offer via mail to upgrade from their 8-Track version _(got it with an Arturia MIDI-keyboard),_ $100 off ...... I pulled the trigger! I'll keep you updated if it will be AS horrible, although I'm obviously not a pro, in fact it's my very first DAW 😉

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swires1 That's excellent. I wish you the best of luck with it. If you're just getting into things, I suggest spending 30 days with the free Ableton trial as well. You'll need more time and experience to realize just how amazing it is in comparison to other DAW's but I feel like if you watch all the quick tutorials they offer you can get up and running with it pretty quickly. Get good with Bitwig first though and then wait for a time where you have as much free time as possible in a 30 day period to really dive into Ableton and give it a try. Then you can see which you prefer. They all do the same things. Great sounding music can be made in all of them. You just have to first and foremost write good songs then get good with the mixing and mastering.

    • @swires1
      @swires1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LesVegasMusic So I've been playing around in it for quite a while now, and for that purpose it's excellent! Meaning, to playfully explore on your own and learn along the way as a beginner. I'm a visual person and it's really nice to look at, modern and youthful with lots of colors _(that was the main reason I chose it over others)._ If you hover over buttons/functions, there's always a short but on-point description shown at the bottom.
      Haven't experienced any major issues like a crash yet (zero) but I'm sure you meant some scenario with tons of plug-ins loaded or something like that ...
      Right now I'm trying to get familiar with the included Synths, which seem very basic and lackluster so far, but let's see!

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ognash aka Swires I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for sharing your experience. Agreed. Some synths I like and use all the time in Ableton are Mini V and Pigments by Arturia, Thorn, Avenger, Diva and all the UVI stuff is great. Check them out if you haven't already.

    • @LesVegasMusic
      @LesVegasMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @deanc2000 I know it. I'm really hoping we'll get that on the next big update. The recording of live instruments could be improved in general - more reliable recording at lower buffers settings and higher bit rates.
