It was indeed a true story. Richard Gadd, the guy who wote & starred in the main role. He wrote about himself. Incredible TV series. The acting was different level. I thought the trans actress was very good also.

I agree with you! I really liked how the show addressed that men are expected to 'tough it out' regarding abuse
