For folks with VWs outside US, bear in mind that your car may not have the BT module with the RCD 310...thus...no phone or BT audio connectivity, even though the RCD 310 unit itslef shows the "BT Audio" on the display... I've had the same issue with my Polo.
+shreddedreams The Bluetooth module is actually separate from the radio. Until 2014 it was located underneath the passenger seat. You can try resetting it, just unplug it, wait 30 seconds, And plug it back in. That may help you out

I had the car since new, and the radio manual does not have anything regarding bluetooth. Do you know anything about these radios shipped without this feature?
@lookatcha, No RCD310 is not standard with Bluetooth, though pretty much all models other than the base models in RCD310-equipped VW's will have Bluetooth.
If you have the RCD310 stereo as this guy has, what he isn't showing you is that under the passenger seat will be a Bluetooth module box. THIS is what picks up the Bluetooth. Without this, your headset just has the connectivity option, IF you buy additional parts. If yours does have this and isn't connecting, this can be a simple reset job. Just locate the box and pull out the leads, then plug them back in and it will reset the box and you should be able to connect. Without it your options from a dealer are expensive. You can buy the BURY CC9068 device which is like a PDA that wires into the back of your radio and basically hijacks the speakers, but won't give you any headsup info on your actual radio, but this retails from a dealer at around £247 (GBP - price as of 11/11/2019). You are better off buying an aftermarket Android/Bluetooth headset for half this price with everything built in - some even have SatNav built in. I can't vouch for any specific brands or models as I'm still looking at options, but it will be cheaper IMO. I had the same issue and have just spoken to my local VW dealer who checked with my vehicle reg number and confirmed that the car shipped with the standard headset and not the Bluetooth parts we need to make this work. Perhaps this guy isn't actually aware his car has it. This is why your phone can't see the radio. There's no actual link between your radio and your phone. If anyone can recommend any specific Makes/models of radio or ways around this, please respond to this as I would be very interested.

Keeps saying make sure “VW PHONE” is ready to pair. What’s that mean, how does someone get it “ready”. The one down side about the Jetta 2013 is that the steering wheel controls don't work with Bluetooth. I am taking the car to the dealership tomorrow to see if they can do something

Thanks. Driving a 2013 Passat, and struggled to get my GPS to announce turns through the cars system. Found out that I have two options; Have the radio/cd running and just keep an eye on the map, or drive in silence with the turns through the speakers. Wish it were clever enough to play the direction from teh handset and the Radio too!

My Bluetooth has aways worked fine but I'd like to be able to skip tracks from the steering wheel controls. Has there been any VW or radio updates to allow that? Seems like most bluetooth speakers with controls communicate back to the phone and play/pause and SKIP.
Look under the passenger seat, there should be a box. This is the BlueTooth receiver box. If yours doesn't have it, you just have the standard model. You'll never get anything to pair to your radio without this as there's no connectivity.

If you have the BlueTooth module under your seat you already have the connection and shouldn't need this. You might just need to reset your module under the seat. Locate it, then pull the wires out and reconnect them - this should reset the module and allow you to connect to it. Let me know if this works as there are a few other options you can try.

I just got a new Match Edition polo, the BT audio is activated and if I play music it works. But it doesn't show BT AUDIO in the media menu, only Aux and CD, the music will play though but doesn't display song name etc. The bigger problem is that the music is quiet, it sounds terrible. It's not a "turn up the volume" problem. It's like the speakers aren't trying and sound tinny, plug in via Aux or turn on the radio and its much better..

Absolutely correct, but if bluetooth shows up on the rcd310 the car has it, its the Premium 8 touchscreen stereo that will show BT Audio but not have Bluetooth

Have newly purchased Passat with two BT issues: When phone is connected and playing media other than BT, interruptions occur with each phone app notification which requires a reset to the original media and.... when playing Pandora thru BT, after each song played, player disconnects...I've found by trial that pushing the volume increase button on the steering wheel reactivates... can these issues be corrected?

You can have multiple devices paired but only one active at a time. It will just connect with the most recently paired device. If that one isnt available, it will move on to the next device.

Perfect. The key piece I was missing is that the device had to be playing the audio before the RCD would display the BT AUDIO in the media menu.

There is a separate Bluetooth module located under the passenger seat, if it's not there, you won't be able to connect with any Bluetooth device.

I have a vw polo 2012 blue motion. I just can't seem to hook my spotify up. I can turn bluetooth on, on my s6 and through the car speakers I hear s6 connected. but can't seem to play spotify. the only way I can is through an aux cable. but I don't want to use cables. any idea... thanks

hey. is there a way to change the soundtrack without using the phone when its connected to the bluetooth ? like with the controls on the steering?
I've also got the RCD 310 in my Scirocco but my iPhone 4 won't find the device via bluetooth! Are there any additional settings on the iPhone to make it work?
There shouldn't be. Since its not a US model you may have some different settings or options. You'll want to check with your local dealer to confirm.

You can have multiple devices paired but only one active at a time. It will just connect with the most recently paired device. If that one isnt available, it will move on to the next device.
@@socalvwguydotcom That is good to know. I might pair my Xperia X to it and play some of my music that way. That way I can have my collection of music playing without the disadvantage of slow MP3 access.
I have the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta model with this stereo but when I go to menu I don't see anything you do, I see aux stuff but that's it, so confused
