  • A cold and wintry Thursday afternoon finds a MH-65D Dolphin helicopter from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, WA out of its normal habitat as it made a layover at Tri-Cities Airport (KTRI). The Dolphin was refueled while the crew took a break. They soon departed to continue their journey westward to Nashville International Airport (BNA).

Absolutely love this Helo. Love the short nose version better and the old red and white paint scheme but still this is such an awesome looking helicopter. I even have a really nice diecast scale model of it. Wanted to to become a pilot in real life so I could fly it but just didn't have the guts to really go for it. Dream job will have to remain a dream.

I miss the loud Fenestron. I don’t know why all Dauphin’s/Dolphin’s had to be equipped with the newer asymmetrically spaced bladed “quiet” Fenestron. That’s great and fine for the EC-135, but Dauphin fans loved its original sound. As if the original design’s sound was so bothersome. People just love to have something to complain about. Now Airbus is developing the Blue Edge shaped blades and Fenestron’s will barely make noise at all.

Amazing, they improved upon something and you're complaining about it. You don't see the irony of you saying "people just love to have something to complain about"? What are you, a cave man? Only loud things are good?

I just love the sound that the fenestron gives of a awesome sound this is my favorite helicopter and the one I’d want to fly as well as the EC-145 and Bell 407 but the dolphin is the one

Those helicopters with the fenestron in the tail all have a unique sound. And the Dolphin is by far one of the more beautiful helicopter designs out there. Cheers!

Such a nice looking helicopter. If I ever have over $1 trillion I'd start my own search and rescue station hire some pilots and some mechanics to maintain a fleet of MH-65s. If I have a good reason why I'd say it is because it would benefit a lot of people. Police officers and EMTs alike. The way I figure, I felt it would also help out a lot.

France invented the first modern helicopter, the Alouette II, the first helicopter with a turbine! then there was the Alouette III, Gazelle ( blue thunder ) and Ecureuil, the Puma and super puma, the Dauphin, and many other very beautiful machines like the H160! the Squirrel (Squirrel or ASTAR) is one of the best-selling turbine helicopters in the world, more than 5000 sold (civil aircraft) obviously, the best-selling brand is robinson with its R22, R44 and R66!

2000 when I was evacuating the Bahamas all the way to Catalina still waiting on the order I was told to go ahead and go ahead and use fixed Wing aircraft for the meantime single engine fixed swing aircraft seat dolphins were on backorder just to use one for the president I'll spray wire shaping and laser got it got it so was the seat I rather have the Creed helicopters quite frankly that has carburetors it can operate in cold weather carburetor helicopter is better than a seed dolphin but that's my opinion this is back in 2000 to 911 so I don't know what's going on right now but you'll have to check with the military army said no way they did not want the helicopter Air Force said no way we don't want the helicopter only ones was Navy Marines Air Force was looking into it for special forces last time when it was 50,000 seat dolphins order
