I am loving this series of US 101. A truly beautiful route.

One of my favorite drives, in a great part of the State. People who hate on California because of LA, SF, Oakland, etc have no idea of the tremendous parts of this State that are rural, unpopulated, low-cost, and simply beautiful.

I dont even see those places when I go to California. I go straight to northern California where it looks like this

That's good. It keeps them from visiting.

Such pretty country. The Coast Range is pretty, but very unforgiving at times.

Just south of Leggett somewhere is an old section, now bypassed, there was a viaduct pinned to the side of a cliff overlooking the river. The first time I came to Humboldt County on a bus in 1974, it felt like we were driving off the edge. The bus driver did it 5 days a week and it didn't bother him a bit.

That was near the beginning of this video, probably about 3 minutes in. When I was a teenager I drove that stretch. The advisory signs were 20 mph and you didn't dare do 21. They built a deep cut with a 35 mph curve sometime in the early 1980s. People still walk the old cliff road if you know it's there.

& to think, this is the same US 101 that's a major freeway here in the greater LA area as well as the the Bay area too. Nice scenery too.

This route reminds so much of the courses from those Need for Speed games.

Nice video as usual, Kyle. Some very beautiful scenery there, though I'm surprised there's no K-Rail divider on the divided highway portions of the 101.And yes, the further north you go, the more "Squatchy" things get-to use a phrase the Bigfoot hunters like to use. You never know if you'll see the big guy crossing the road in front of you....

Beautiful drive but did you film CA-271 which leads to major parks in Northern CA

I know large trucks are banned in Richardson Grove. They are talking about some minor tweaks that still dismantle trees. I'd reopen the bypass discussion and look for additional corridors that avoid the park altogether (likely with some tunneling) so the existing route can be maintained as a low-speed scenic parkway with no park impact at all, while biting the bullet on the cost.

There should be a center barrier.

Why no traffic heading in the direction of the vehicle ? Is it AI?

A speeded up video ruins it for me. Unrealistic when imagining being in the passenger seat.
