Project Description
This is a short travel video of my 2 1/2 week trip around Japan in late November 2016. Japan is an amazing country with a unique coexistence between the old and the new that sometimes boggles the mind of a foreigner. At its heart lies a beautiful country, filled with generous and polite people always willing to help a lost stranger with map reading issues.
During my brief visit, I passed through Tokyo, Shirahama, Kumano Kodo, Koya San, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and some strange and wonderful places in between. I hope you enjoy the video I've made of this little journey and many thanks to all the people I met along the way!

It's been my dream to go to Japan since I've been a little child, but my family is poor and we could never afford it.
Now I'm 25 and I've managed to save enough money to finally go to Japan this summer, it's a dream that has come true.
Everytime I watch this video I start to cry because this soon isn't going to be a dream; it's gonna be a reality.
The cinematography and the music are so touching, really, well done.
Little update:
I went there last summer and am now back safely in my hometown. At first I was a little scared that I may had too high expectations of a country I've never been to, you know like you project certain ideals to a certain entity. However, I can now say that my trip to Japan was truly magical. I loved each and every moment of it! Thank you all so much for the nice words and support, I hope all of you will be able to fulfill your dreams as well

And Shibuya's Hachiko statue represents a tragic loss for a very loyal dog. Shibuya is the Tokyo intersection always depicted in western videos and movies like in Lost In Translation.

Being a first generation Japanese American, this brings me back... watching everything that is breathtakingly beautiful makes me want everyone to be able to experience traveling there. It is a must! I was planning to revisit family the summer of 2020 to take care of them. With the virus, I’ll be going back the next summer with lots of more Yen! This was the perfect video of transitions and shows the true cultural points that make Nippon!!✌️

Japan is the oldest country in the world.
The history of Japan began in the Pleistocene, and the introduction of rice cultivation from the continent led people to vie for land.
In addition, the battle for status became active, and a battle between Taira and Genji took place.
Those who gained strength in the conflict eventually became samurai and entered the Warring States period.
The samurai fought each other with the aim of unifying the Japan, and finally "Toyotomi Hideyoshi" achieved the unification of the Japan.
Immediately after that, "Ieyasu Tokugawa" opened the "Edo Shogunate" with the aim of peaceful governance.
Around this time, the capital moved from "Kyoto" to "Tokyo".
The Edo period lasted for about 250 years, and the shogunate carried out "Sakoku" to prevent the introduction of religions from foreign countries.
In that process, Japanese culture and literature developed. For example, "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji" by "Katsushika Hokusai".
Then, in the 1850s, large ships from Western countries that succeeded in the Industrial Revolution began to appear frequently in Japan, demanding that Japan open a port.
The Shogunate accepted this, opened the port, and the Japanese who were surprised by the delay with foreign countries became more and more likely to defeat the Shogunate.
In the Meiji era, we performed "Fukoku Kyohei" on the premise of catching up with and overtaking Western countries. This was also to prevent foreign aggression.
From here, Japan rapidly modernized and challenged China, Russia and the United States.
In World War II, Japan was defeated so much that it abandoned its armed forces from the reflection of the war and began its path to becoming a "peaceful economic power."
Ten years after the war, the economy recovered to prewar economic levels, and even Japanese people have come to say that “it is no longer termed postwar”.
From 1960, under the slogan of "Income Doubling Plan," GDP increased sharply.
In the 1980s, it became the world's second largest economy after the United States, and in the 1990s it had the momentum to overtake the United States, but due to a number of government missteps, the economy has been stagnant for nearly 20 years.
It is now overtaken by China in GDP.

How I miss the atmosphere in Japan. Best way to enjoy your holidays would be to experience Japanese culture and see all those amazing sceneries in Hokkaido, etc. Really wish I could travel to Japan again, but partying and Covid are just more important for some people🤷♂️😔.
