Phasing isn't always a bad thing. just because something is phasing doesn't mean it needs to be more mono compatible. I'm just using this example as a blanket statement for wanting your sounds to be mono compatible

If you don't have the preset in SPAN called "Mid-Side Stereo" then you need to update to the latest version. I couldn't find it until I realized I had a paleozoic version.
Hoping one day every system out there will be stereo, so we can stop worrying about phasing!

Another hack i have personally figured out to get a mono signal, is to not just turn down the stereo on utility, but instead pick either the right or left side. Stereo is only created from variations on the sides. Picking one or the other, you will be in mono, just something to play with

That’s exactly what I was taught to do. Choosing the side that has the bulk of the sound will yield the best mono result IMO. Collapsing both sides together with a utility can still cause phase cancellation.

just use a mid-side EQ( MEqualizer FREE) and cut 250-300 and below from the sides. Then make sure the stereo signal is a couple of DB below the mono signal in the higher range. I usually low cut 300 on a delay, reverb etc. I like stereo only in the range of 300-12k

Another great free plugin is Voxengo Correlometer which perfectly shows you the phase correlation across the whole frequency spectrum :)

great vid, to the point, super helpful tip at the end with solving phasing issues in within serum. i really like how you talk about just adding stereo at the end when concerning mono compatibility.

That correlation meter shows over 0 how it is phasing. Thought phasing means we go below 0?

Man, I dont get how trying to fix noise is a thing

@@jameswalker3869 think of every sound in your drop as a puzzle piece. Noise by itself may sound terrible or unwanted. But when combined with tonal basses and a strong sub bass, then all distorted together it can create a complimentary harmonics or just ear candy for the listener.
