Excellent guide. I feel like a few points vary a bit depending on your personal priorities, but recognizing an almost perfect weapon or armor piece is definitely important now.
I had about 800 legendary cores when this started and got it down to about 200 last night. I got so many decent rolls that I was selling a ton of weapons at my vendor; the bloodied were big sellers since I'm a full health build. I kept everything that had at least two good stars, and was light, to scrap later and even modified backup Holy Fires and Elders Marks, plus I was at zero season tickets. Thanks for the advice videos - they helped.
Custom paints are supposed to do that but in the PTS they didn't stop your items getting scrapped. Hopefully they've added something like that to the actual update.

Boy I’m holding onto a ONE star gauss minigun for two months just because i got a ONE star quad on it, hoping for the day i could add two more stars to it. Wich isn’t going to be now because I got no decent plan from scraping two months worth of legendaries 😅
It should work similarly as favourite items, just marked to not scrap but not hinder selection/favourite lists, so trying to scrap it would tell you warning and pre-sellected would be 'no'
Great video, very in depth and informative. One thing to note is to prioritize the 3 star legendary effect when deciding what items to keep. After the update, the 3 star effect will be the most expensive to add to gear, even if you have the plan or box mod for it. I believe it costs 60 (!) modules.
Thanks, and I agree the 3rd tier star mods will be the last to be learned and for some reason it's going to cost 60 modules to craft. No idea why they made it that way.
It's not far from my thinking. Only thing I am doing in addition was making sure I have at least one of each of all the stuff I want to end up 3*, ready for the purge. I ended up with 3 good suits of high end 3*basic armour (scouts set up for sneakin', SS for flyin' and Civil engineer for my weapons not breaking) and three 3* PA sets with different optimization (excavators for hauling loot, ultracite for better defence and T60 for lookin' badass) Yeah yeah, I know this isn't meta but I don't care I like them.
@SequentialGamerFallout yeah, I ended up with a LOT of those armour set pieces XD Thinking about it a little I actually think this update is going to do wonders for stashbox limits. I mean, the first think I'm doing when I've finished updating is breaking down like 600WT of armour that I'm not going to ever use in hopes of getting some nifty mods and the ability to craft a couple mods. Then I'm going to go through my weapons and do the same with about 350WT of weapons.
I've not seen any information on whether learning plans affects the chances to learn other plans but I'd agree that one stars first is probably the way to go.
Agreed, but the real debate is over the line between keep and scrap with 3 stars. I've got a lot of good 2nd and 3rd star rolls with hunters and zealots I can't wait to convert the 1st star on
Automatic melee weapons, chainsaws, auto-axe, ripppers, etc all do power attacks by default when they're spun up. If you look at your AP when one is spinning you'll see it depleting.
Personally, I'm looking forward to actually taking some time to go through all the crap I've hoarded to see if I actually saved anything worth keeping over scrapping lol Edit: The ammo type is almost always the last loot item listed when you open something, seems like. Good way to keep track, imho
If I didn't misunderstand Turtles vid there is still 1 type of random rolling left. If you take a completely non legendary item and choose to spend the 15 modules it gives you 3 random stars like our current rolling system. You just only have 1 chance. After that you can only modify it under the new system.
Yeah, technically speaking that's "rolling" .. but with the chances to get three ideal stars and the cost in materials & modules it's not something I'd recommend to anyone. You'd be better off trying to learn the plans because the chances are similar in both cases but you learn the star mod recipes permanently.
Honestly you can trade them once they've been modified so..scrapping isn't as much of a loss as you might think. What you're probably missing out on is caps for near groll items.
Dont scrip scrap godrolls. Scrap anything you want to learn or get a mod for. Scrip anything else. You may want to learn every mod but honestly no one needs to learn nocturnal mods...

Yeah, if you've set it to auto-update it'll do it by itself unless you're playing a game or something. I can't see it on my steam so it might not have released yet.

how the heck do you remain items like that? Whenever i try to rename items it 100% ALWAYS tells me the default name is too long to save, let alone added 1 character. I have to delete the entire name and put like 1 word for it to allow me to save name
Beware!!! So I just scraped a weapon and got a 'swift' module. I then placed my junk in FO1st scrap box. Button to scrap and store scraped the module too😢
Over all this time the only reason i got skins was so they wouldn't show in the scrip menu....so now i have nothing that i want if that doesn't stop it 4:32 then i guess its just collectors 😢
Bethesda didn't walk back on the reinstall, they clarified. Your entire game IS getting replaced today. It just will NOT require you to uninstall first, which seemed to be a misunderstanding. Just remember, this is a good thing. A full restructuring of the files like this is only done to improve the way the game runs. It's also likely that it will enable devs to do things they couldn't do before, so in the days to come, there is a high probability we will see bugs that have been plaguing the game for years, finally get fixed. That's not to say it's going to fix everything, but this isn't a decision that is taken lightly. I anticipate a few emergency maintenence sessions in the next few weeks.
Yeah, what I meant was that they walked back the statement not the changes to the file structure. Hopefully it fixes the PS issues. I'm shocked by what some people are saying about how common crashes are on the PS.
@@SequentialGamerFallout so I play on both PC and PS4. So I see it all. While the PS4 has its own baggage, a lot of the recent problems stem from one of two things. First off, Playstation(and I think MS, but I can't confirm that) requires a constant connection to the PSN on top of any online services you use. With FO76 being poorly optimized and having jerry rigged network software, doesn't cope with this too well. This causes a host of lagging issues that inevitably lead to additional crashing. Secondly, the intense legendary farming of the community over the past month or so, has compiled a lot of minor issues leading to more crashes. One of the big issues Playstations have always had, is low RAM. For most games, this isn't a big deal, but for Bethesda games and anything that involves a lot of inventory management(No Man's Sky for example), Playstation consoles can't handle that much file movement and will crash when you go too fast. Right now in 76, people are doing more inventory management than normal, so more people are seeing a problem that has always actually been there.

I'm sure it's still going to be a bit rough for the first couple weeks while everyone sorts out their inventories, but I don't understand enough about the file restructuring to really have an idea of what to expect.

Also, it appears on certain days that no matter how many legendary items you scrap you get nothing, zero learned and zero mods. I base that on scrapping over 150 mainly three star items and getting nothing whatsoever on Friday 6th. I've written to Bethesda and they just send a form letter to rebot you system. I am on the PS5 platform and wonder if Bethesda/Microsoft is doing this and the freezing on PS5 (still happens multiple times a day after the "fix") in order to try and move folks to their xBox which isn't going to happen.
So you keep your 100's of weapons / armour pieces.... how are you going to get the modules / plans you need to make your Grolls? Going forward, will you just scrap the majority of items you find in the wild / at events? That means even more storage space. Maybe you don't care about making Grolls because you have all you need already? I got to level 260 in Season 17, and cashed in 2.5K tickets for modules. I also have 2 Alts maxed out with 3* items and they're going to get scrapped immeadiately the new update is completed!
What you do is up to you, but keep in mind what the chances are to get three good factors on a random drop. You'll get plenty of every legendary star via random drops, but getting multiples on the right item from a random drop will be as rare as getting a god-roll with the old system.
So now where are we gonna store the ridiculous amounts of mods that weigh at 1 pound each ? I don't understand how it went from us learning legendary mod plans to us getting an actual physical modification that weighs at 1 pound each that shits gonna be crazy for ppl who don't pay for fallout 1st 😂😅
To be fair FO1st doesn't help with loose star mods, they're not junk. But yeah, those mods do weigh quite a bit so I'd avoid storing up the useless ones.

Btw downloading a full update and deleting and re-downloading is the same thing. If it weren't a full update that would be different. As long as you have to dl the full file size it's the same thing. Only difference is in people's heads :)
That would be really for bethesda to do since... its actually in the update (you can randomly roll a third star on a 2 star legendary without rerolling the first two now) but this is a mmo so they are making us grind for it

It's that we're human. lol It SHOULD in theory be easier to replace an accidentally scrapped GR weapon, but on paper and in practice; it could be a different story. Would just be awesome to have that little bit of insurance. I dunno about you, but esthetics aside, the other reason that I even buy the paints from the atom shop is the little bit of extra insurance against those late night / early morning zombie sessions doing weight management. haha. I try to follow the same rules that I follow when driving. Don't drive drunk or tired. Don't scrip while drunk or tired. :P -Additionally, I do rename stuff. Just lookin out for those that don't. Seems like it'd be pretty simple, but what do I know? Like for real... I don't know.
Maybe it's strange,but I noticed my anti-armor explosive does more damage than my two shot explosive fixer. Even though the damage is rated higher on the two shot.
@@shawnweir8426 Each shot of a two-shot will need to bypass armor individually and like others have said it can miss. So two shot tends to be pretty bad against tougher enemies unless you use VATS. Two shot explosive is very good in VATS though. On the other hand anti-armor is a percentage reduction so against tougher enemies it tends to perform better than straight up damage boosting (unless it's bloody). AA is generally regarded as a top tier first star for full health characters, and it does better than most other effects against bosses because of the percentage reduction in resistances. Another tip is that if you stack an anti-armor first star with a armor piercing magazine they add up instead of multiply, so you can end up with a -90% armor on a handmade or combat rifle.

Can someone explain the power attack stat for chain saws and auto axe? Doesnt it just do like a slow pistol whip animation and counts as one hit ?

I almost never "re-rolled" an item. I'd just scrip or sell it and roll another of the same type (chainsaw, autoaxe, etc.).

The scrip system is still there, you buy modules from the scrip vendor. But you can also get modules from events.

@@MasterJoeda_ Yeah, cores are replaced with modules and the major changes are the you can tweak individual stars but re-rolling is gone.
181 super stimpaks? Sell them or dump them. You only need 40-50 stimpaks on you, alot of players make that mistake.
That's diluted stims, I had close to 1000 full stims. But I was only carrying them to get more caps during Treasure Hunter.

That's weird, usually most default names are ok. But for SS armor I've had to shorten them but that's the only time I've had a "name too long issue".

Maybe it's strange,but I noticed my anti-armor explosive does more damage than my two shot explosive fixer. Even though the damage is rated higher on the two shot.
Two shot - 1 projectile usually misses the target.

@@shawnweir8426 Each shot of a two-shot will need to bypass armor individually and like others have said it can miss. So two shot tends to be pretty bad against tougher enemies unless you use VATS. Two shot explosive is very good in VATS though.
On the other hand anti-armor is a percentage reduction so against tougher enemies it tends to perform better than straight up damage boosting (unless it's bloody). AA is generally regarded as a top tier first star for full health characters, and it does better than most other effects against bosses because of the percentage reduction in resistances.
Another tip is that if you stack an anti-armor first star with a armor piercing magazine they add up instead of multiply, so you can end up with a -90% armor on a handmade or combat rifle.
