Just found this channel. Wow. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I enjoy video games but haven’t ever done any serious speed running so this is such great insight into the mindset, tactics, and reasons why. Thank you.
Honestly, you’ve balanced the casual player really well, everyone’s time for playing GTA causally varies but the first time I played, my play through looked near enough exactly like how your casual plays so I’d say you’ve done a pretty good job
I think your interpretation of an average casual player is perfect. I remember back when I played this game for the first time when it was released on the 360, and up to last year when I would just screw around with my friends in GTA Online, mostly just causing chaos by killing players for the fun of it. Some may have even called me a tryhard due to how good I was, and I could understand it. I was never a speedrunner, but I love watching these. It's really interesting to see the different strategies and methods used. I've subscribed and turned notifications on so I won't miss a single episode of this series.
@@FriendlyBaron true. Though normally I end up playing the game that I watch. I usually only watch people play a game and not play it myself is if it's stuff like this that takes a lot of skill or a game that I don't necessarily want to play but I want to know how good the game is.
The casual run seems very fair to me you don't really do anything that would make me say that was just time wasting. Plus when you just play it like a normal person would then you'd be doing a whole bunch of random off mission things like exploring areas of the map
I know i'm 3 years late and you probs wont see this but i found this series again since watching it while you released it and I have to say, the casual plays very well for what youre trying to emulate! Good job!
Great showing of casual player's style. While playing they pay attention to details such as choosing a nice clothing. They make mistakes, crash into other cars, obstacles etc.
i know these videos are years old at this point and you (obviously) know what you are doing, but i wanna say i think yer "casual player" play is pretty spot on. it's always going to be better/worse than SOMEONE, but i think you've nailed it. opening the map for a waypoint, following the yellow/purple line, crashing, checking out clothes, doing exactly what the game tells/wants you to do...these are all things the average non-speedrun-player is going to do. ESPECIALLY if it's someone who hasn't played through the game many many times (which i'm not entirely sure is something the average person does). these videos are great and even if i'm just some non speedrunning chump, i'm definitely gonna try some of this stuff out just for fun on my nearly endless replays of this game.
Thanks! I explained this on stream once, but back when i first made these, i would often get comments like "your casual player is too bad!" and "your casual player is too good!", and i think getting both kinda guided me into finding the perfect middle. Can't please everyone, but i think i found the best medium i could of what an average player would do.
i just wanted to stop by and say that the amount of effort you're putting into these videos is crazy good. I'm loving this so far and I'm hooked. please keep them coming
Hey man, I know you catch shade for how you play Casual mode, but you're almost mirroring how I played GTAV for the first time, so mad props for that. I've only recently started watching your channel, but this is sick to see all this neat shit I can do when playing through story again. Keep it up, my guy!
Just recently watched my first gta v speedrun, casual%, and I immediately found it be one of my fav games to watch run this video and series is dope AF keep it up. You give really good insight about times saves and tricks used in the run.
more more more. this series is interesting and helpful to the community. i think the casual knowing that hiding under a bridge to not be spotted by the chopper was alittle to much knowledge because when i was playing casual i did not know this.
@@FriendlyBaron yeah. Waypoints are just grown out for someone with like 500 hours into the old gen and 280 hours on next gen PC played in 4 months alone. I do play with my sister in Online, she usually puts Waypoints to help me in Sightseer -VIP Work, can even use her supercars there and stuff, helps with Headhunter by her being in a Kuruma while I'm in a Buzzard I got from the free Christmas presents (she simply sucks at flying which is why she didn't get the present) idk, had to spell something about her because it's so nice to play with even someone.

Love the video, dude. Not the happiest with you doing the casual part, but finding someone who hasn't played the game before would be impossible, and you do a great job of emulating a casual player. Some things you do pretty bad and it seems like you're trying to help the speedrun too much, but then you go and do something else too good out of habit so it definitely balances out. And driving around the whole block before finding the construction area you need to climb up, 100% accurate. Keep it up, man. Love the work.
This series is amazing and seriously interesting, I’ve always loved speedrunning and I’ve never seen something that compares it so well with the scripted and casual way of playing.
Brilliant series and detail. I feel like I’m listening to a speed run version of your commentary because it’s so much info so quickly, but no doubt I’ll be following these with heavy use of the pause button when I take on story mode. Thank you for all the effort you put into your productions, and for caring about the quality of your work enough not to release things until you’re more content with them (re your apology for not putting the kerb/curb boost video out yet)
thanks! yeah i dont make money off these so its extra easy to justify quality>quantity. i do talk fast for sure but sometimes theres just so much to get through!
not even a speed runner but these videos are great simple explanations for subtle but important tips this is the type of content that would entice me to try speed running and this is the exact video i would refer to if i did
I just found this channel and series and want to say that while I did finish the game, I consider myself a super casual player. And I play it much like the casual would - reading everything and trying to absorb all of the lore. I also wasted a lot of time as Trevor getting escorts, so there's that
I think the casual is playing quite appropriately - like someone who plays a fair amount of video games, but not too much GTA specifically. Decent shooting, but not aiming for the head (which most people really only bother with if the game is pretty tough - GTA is not). Driving gets the job done just fine, aside from a few mistakes which we *all* made while learning GTA's completely insane physics engine. Stopping to browse places you happen to stop by, but not lingering or spending too long. This is basically how people play.
I dont understand why im enjoying this series so much but its really fun to watch a speedrun without watching a 10 hour vid and btw id say the causal is at the correct speed even though for me it took like an extra day or 2 just to get to where ur at.

Yes finally another one of those
confirmed that the youtuber isnt dead
4:38 The casual is tryna watch the porn video 😂😂
hey it was distracting okay!
this series is so fun to watch, im not a speedrunner myself, but i really admire the tactics and skill displayed by speedrunners !
thanks! 99% of people arent speedrunners anyways, its mostly a spectator thing.
I've subscribed and turned notifications on so I won't miss a single episode of this series.
thanks dude, glad you are enjoying it!
13:00 noice!
Does choosing the bad crew force you to exit the jewel store faster
Nope! not it
FriendlyBaron dang
FriendlyBaron doesn’t the gun man die having 1 less crew
@@quickshotfivefourthreefour6758 Nope!
You get sports bikes instead of dirt bikes, which would matter, but the speed runner doesn't go onto the dirt, thus making it much smarter
What's up with the framerate on the speedrun screen?
I mention it in the video i think that it was gonna have bad frames for this video because my computer is having issues right now.
wow he was so lucky to find a hakuchou right away
You know, it's funny. I don't even play gta anymore and this is the most anticipated I have been for a series in a very long time.
i'd bet only 10% of the people who watch this even play GTA anymore, its pretty common in this day and age to watch but not play
@@FriendlyBaron true. Though normally I end up playing the game that I watch. I usually only watch people play a game and not play it myself is if it's stuff like this that takes a lot of skill or a game that I don't necessarily want to play but I want to know how good the game is.
I got the message you sent me! Finally! I’m overjoyed! I’ll keep it between the two of us :)
LOL im like extremely sleep deprived and was super worried what this meant for a moment
Actually dead xD
The casual run seems very fair to me you don't really do anything that would make me say that was just time wasting. Plus when you just play it like a normal person would then you'd be doing a whole bunch of random off mission things like exploring areas of the map
yeah exactly, thanks for being logical about it haha
the casual is!
I dont even have gta but this is one of my favourite serious rn
thanks! i watch football and baseball but never play them myself - its kinda the same thing
I know i'm 3 years late and you probs wont see this but i found this series again since watching it while you released it and I have to say, the casual plays very well for what youre trying to emulate! Good job!
Great showing of casual player's style. While playing they pay attention to details such as choosing a nice clothing. They make mistakes, crash into other cars, obstacles etc.
thanks!
i know these videos are years old at this point and you (obviously) know what you are doing, but i wanna say i think yer "casual player" play is pretty spot on. it's always going to be better/worse than SOMEONE, but i think you've nailed it. opening the map for a waypoint, following the yellow/purple line, crashing, checking out clothes, doing exactly what the game tells/wants you to do...these are all things the average non-speedrun-player is going to do.
I'm loving this so far and I'm hooked. please keep them coming
thanks my dude, more on the way for sure
Hey man, I know you catch shade for how you play Casual mode, but you're almost mirroring how I played GTAV for the first time, so mad props for that. I've only recently started watching your channel, but this is sick to see all this neat shit I can do when playing through story again. Keep it up, my guy!
thanks a bunch, the overwhelming comments are positive, its just the negative ones stick out more sadly.
I like how during the pop-ups the casual tried to watch the video that was on the screen.
Burnin' Rubber?
You glorious bastard!
skkrt
I personally think you are doing a great job roughly explaining and anticipating what a casual runner would do most of the time in these missions :)
thanks!
Just recently watched my first gta v speedrun, casual%, and I immediately found it be one of my fav games to watch run this video and series is dope AF keep it up. You give really good insight about times saves and tricks used in the run.
hey thanks my man
I like your interpretation of the casual playthrough. It doesn't really matter because I'm here to listen to you explain the speedrun.
thanks! you are in the majority, its just those pesky mean comments stick out to me
I've played the GTA V Story a lot, and every single time very casually, you hit 99% of it right on the nail.
heh, thanks
Even though i beated the game 5 times i didn't know alot of this stuff! Amazing work my dude.
thanks my man!
I’ve never speed ran a game in my life but this series is so interesting and I love it. Keep up the great work! You gained a subscriber!
thanks - 99% of people dont speedrun anyways - its mostly a spectator thing, almost like football ya know?
more more more. this series is interesting and helpful to the community. i think the casual knowing that hiding under a bridge to not be spotted by the chopper was alittle to much knowledge because when i was playing casual i did not know this.
working on them in all of my free time!
also hiding under a bridge, i mean, i have literally watched a guy do that IRL from a police chopper is my excuse for the casual doing it
Love how you included Casual adding a waypoint on the map. Even if I'm not a speedrunner, I know the whole map basically and don't need waypoints.
thanks! yeah i learn maps right quick but figured it be good to add to the video
1. I really like this episode
2. I like how you explain everything and how you made it
3. Its really well made that speedrunner is going as fast as he can
4. Casual is casual becouse hes playing gta V story mode for 1st time
Again i cant wait for episode 4
thanks a bunch man!
I find it so satisfying when the speedrun timer is stopped and the casual is sped and catching up haha.
haha, thats a great way to describe it
Love the video, dude. Love the work.
thanks - like i say, no one person will find it perfect, so it just has to be about what the casual is doing, not how good they do it.
I'm coming back to this series after a year ands its better than i remember
Thanks for the skip five spots in the contacts tip. Played for a few years and never knew that!
you can also bring up the phone with middle mouse click if on PC!
This series is amazing and seriously interesting, I’ve always loved speedrunning and I’ve never seen something that compares it so well with the scripted and casual way of playing.
thanks my man!
Brilliant series and detail. I feel like I’m listening to a speed run version of your commentary because it’s so much info so quickly, but no doubt I’ll be following these with heavy use of the pause button when I take on story mode. Thank you for all the effort you put into your productions, and for caring about the quality of your work enough not to release things until you’re more content with them (re your apology for not putting the kerb/curb boost video out yet)
thanks! yeah i dont make money off these so its extra easy to justify quality>quantity. i do talk fast for sure but sometimes theres just so much to get through!
not even a speed runner but these videos are great
simple explanations for subtle but important tips
this is the type of content that would entice me to try speed running and this is the exact video i would refer to if i did
thanks!
I just found this channel and series and want to say that while I did finish the game, I consider myself a super casual player.
And I play it much like the casual would - reading everything and trying to absorb all of the lore. I also wasted a lot of time as Trevor getting escorts, so there's that
yeah lol, was the goal to match casual play, besides the random messing about
My only hope is that every speedrun of the games I like will have the series like this. Gotta appreciate your effort.
thanks! if they keep doing this well hopefully i can start doing like 2 ep. a week. i'd love to be doing two different games at a time
@@FriendlyBaron if you do that with this kind of quality then I will be glad. But dont put yourself too hard mate.
I can’t imagine the amount of editing and planning that goes into these videos, kudos to you sir!
thanks! it is for sure a ton of work, hence the delays between them
I think the casual is playing quite appropriately - like someone who plays a fair amount of video games, but not too much GTA specifically.
This is basically how people play.
love these episodes, please keep them coming
you got it :^)
This is a fantastic series, I'm so glad you made it! Keep up the good work, buddy!
thanks dude!
I don't normally watch you and your videos but wanted to say I'm enjoying this series! Keep up the good work my dude!
thanks i guess?
IMHO, you are doing a excellent job in the casual side. It seems to me like the "casual" is playing the game for the first time and I'm loving it.
thanks! exactly what i want
I dont understand why im enjoying this series so much but its really fun to watch a speedrun without watching a 10 hour vid
and btw id say the causal is at the correct speed even though for me it took like an extra day or 2 just to get to where ur at.
thanks! glad you are liking it. im of course skipping all the goofing off that a casual does, it wouldnt make for a good video!
@@FriendlyBaron fair enough my guy. And how do you only have 20k subs? In my opinion you should at least have like 500k if not more.
