In the lore video they explained the guy with black flames he fights is the previous general who disappeared after fighting one of the monster leaders. Then Jiyan took his place leading the troops and became the general. My guess is he will be one of the antagonists we fight like the card guy and the girl in white, forgetting names.

yeah people might say he's husbando or something like that, but his story quest was so sad and emotional, it was well written and showed the great bond between jiyan and rover and honestly i cried during the quest
