from the looks of the clip this movie is bad. The acting is bad. The costumes look bad. Really the only thing I like is Christoph Waltz as the Cardinal. Although Tim Curry played the character better in 1993 and Peter Capaldi the 12 Doctor does a better jpob than Waltz too in the BBC show which is on Hulu
Films will always be close but not exact to the book that it's adapting from. You can only fit so much into a film vs the book which has a lot of details.
@@equusquaggaquagga536 Also, and for me its just a personal view, it looks like cheap digital filming. Like TV sitcom quality, not movie cinema quality if you get my point
You mean 2 harry potter movies long watching a complete bastard, a degenerate beggar, an alcocholic with anger management isseus and a catholic wannabe getting away with whatever they please even things that should have cost them their heads. And getting every bit of information told 5 times over. Is that the movie you'd rather be watching?
This won’t be anyone’s choice for best Dumas adaptation, but it’s easily the one I’m fondest of-the most ridiculously excessive joyride and almost no one seems to receive it in the spirit with which it was intended. For heavens sake, Orlando Bloom just ~swanned in off airship, hair high as the heavens, and shat on the king of france! Mila Jovovich is off somewhere doing basically a 17th century laser room heist! How do people hate this movie?? XD
For all comments who said that this film is not accurate : they have a fucking flying ship, they have a flamethrower... This film wasn't supposed to be accurate is a fantasy steampunk film with some historical character
It wasn't filmed in the real Hall of Mirrors, it was filmed in a poor copy of the Palace of Versailles, a random "palace" in Germany, built by a Louis XIV's fanboy.
Oh look at all the Templars. Oh wait that's the Cardinals guard. Dressed in Templar colors. Guarding a French king. Nothing to see here. No issues. Everyone move along about your business. Just ignore the Assassins Guild -um musketeers there.
@@jakewilliams2497 because they are not the royal soldiers. They are the cardinal's personal guard and private army. His color is red. The king's guard are the musketeers, who do wear blue.
Dumas's novel is incredible but remains within the possible. When I saw the trailer with that balloon business, I decided that was not a film I wanted to waste my time watching. The novel is exciting and the plot masterly but some hack in Hollywood thinks she can improve it by such shenanigans. It's the same with the Bond stories: perfectly good stories completely ruined by 'improvements'. That scene in the latest Casino Royale (quite good on the whole) with Bond about to have a heart attack and saving himself by remote control is so far out, it borders on the stupid.
I enjoyed this movie, but to see King Louis XVI, the Sun King, the man who set the fashion of the entire world, looking up to the Duke of Buckingham for fashion reference is utterly moronic.
"Handles like a dream and keeps me one step closer to heaven."
Havn't got over this line yet...
This scene really drives home just how much fun the cast had making this movie.
Rapid relief ❤️
Jesus, that cast is amazing, everything else: less so.
1993 movie was better

1973 is the peak of an Alexandre Dumas adaptation
@@harrypottersnumbrfan loved that show! But the last season was a bit weak

Now everyone's going to think Athos gave Buckingham an evening he'll cherish even more than his night with the Queen.
😂🤣😂🤣😂

You know what would be nice.......an adaption that goes by the book. Look at the cast.....this could have been a classic

Except for the davinci tech, this is the most book accurate.

Completely agree !!!!
Well, I love the cardinal's glorious cape😍
Orlando Bloom is such a DBag in this. I love it.
Great cast, magnificent costumes, but the story...

in another world, aramis and buckingham meet again... buckingham changes his hair and gets some pointy ears and aramis kills a dragon.

I’m a distant relative of the first duke Buckingham so to see him portrayed in this film really is amazing
I 💚 this adaptation. I like the steampunk stuff that was put in it.
Ornaldo (Legolas)is a very talented actor
Amazing performance in Lord of the rings nd in this movie
Orlando bloom
He and I share the same birthday - 13th January
Not Ornaldo but, Orlando Bloom....
Ornaldo...sounds like a Brazillian/Portugese footballer
Filmed in the mirror hall at Versailes. Built after Richelieu died
If they'd been going for historical accuracy and authenticity I suspect they may not have included flying ships ...
It wasn't filmed in the real Hall of Mirrors, it was filmed in a poor copy of the Palace of Versailles, a random "palace" in Germany, built by a Louis XIV's fanboy.
Christoph Waltz is a phenomenal actor, but Tim Curry will always be a better Cardinal Richelieu
My GOD, Lord Buckingham is just OOZING slime. lol Its perfect.
They had the cast to make an amazing movie but the damn script
Rochefort : "With what should I cook that boy? White or red wine, the eternal dilemma."
Percy Jackson looks funny with that Pekingese sitting on his head.
4:30 . Athos and the Duke should get together and compare notes about loving and marrying a girl named Elizabeth in other lives they've had :)..
Which is played exactly by the same girl 🤯🤯🤯
Nataly Jimenez lol 😂
Needs a crap-ton more steampunk. I'd kill for a version like that :D
Awesome entrance tho
I have read the books, and I thought, that the duke was a good guy
What the fuck??!!!!??
In real life he may have been alright
Yay I'm not alone!!! I almost cried when he *SPOILER* died in the book ;(
And I love Orlando Bloom
He was basically best mates with James and then Charles until a disgruntled army officer killed him for fucking everythinh up
Wonder why buckingham and planchet didnt get appear in the third series of the bbc adaption of the musketeers?
His Eminence is my favourite in the movie as well as in real history! ❤
After watching lord of the rings in my opinion Ornaldo ( legolas) should be in the lead role
i feel bad for musketeers. There are so few of them here.
I LIKE IT

Herr Waltz is stunning as always. Awesome cast, sadly the movie is awful
The King is so naive in this, blind to the Cardinal's depraved machinations.
What's with all the red on the soldiers the royal colours were blue and gold
Really easy to see bright blue during stealth missions .... also, aesthetics mate
