🎵Modifying Verbs

(Refrain) Adverbs modify
Adverbs, adjectives or verbs.
Most of the time
Adverbs modify verbs.
The adverb can be found
Before or after,
In the middle of a verb phrase,
Or, at the beginning or ending,
Far, far away.
An adverb modifying a verb can be placed before or after.
It is allowed.
Armando quickly made the basket,
And, smiled stunningly at the adoring crowd.
“Quickly” modifies the verb “made”
And, “stunning” modifies the verb “smiled”.
An adverb modifying a verb can be placed
In the middle of a verb phrase.
After making straight “A’s” Tony did not look for praise.
“Not” is the adverb in the middle of
“Did and look”-- the verb phrase.
The adverb can also be found
At the beginning or ending, far, far, away.
Frantically, Nikki looked for her lost dog all day.
Nikki looked for her lost dog all day, frantically.
“Frantically” is the adverb describing the verb “looked”.
