Got my first win of 2023. A 6hr Endurance Kart race on the weekend, with a new co-driver (who has done raced an enduro), I did about 4 hours. We won our class by 17 laps (11 in class) and P10 outright from 33 karts, only 4 laps of an outright podium. Had never seen the kart or met the team owner till race day, 5 laps in practice and I was on the pace. That was my second endurance kart race in two weekends.
Tough race man. Seemed like 11:44 began the decisive sequence and unfortunately the leader skipped away. I have no experience karting at this level but it reminds me a bit of baseball -- aggressive baserunning is a strategy, and if you're gonna use it you have to run on instinct (stealing bases, catcher or fielder bobbles the ball...). Sometimes it gets you an extra base which is huge, but other times you get picked off. Racing moves too fast to calculate every single decision every time, you have to operate on that instinct occasionally. This time it didn't come off, however it probably worked countless times before this race and it certainly will work plenty of times in future races. Review, learn, return stronger, add in better mojo than this time and you probably end up on the top step next time. Thank you for the video, it allows us all to learn too and good luck in the next one!
Great to see McDonalds venturing into grassroots motorsports and sponsoring drivers.
Awesome Drive Ryan 💯🔥🏁 from what I learned from this is CONSISTENCY and PATIENCE 💯 nothin fancy just sticking with the basic fundamentals of racing 💯
Thank you! You nailed it
Really like this perspective, makes it easier to really see the speed
