I always wondered why no other fighting game ever decided to make a singleplayer platform mode so you could use all your crazy character attacks on more than one enemy like smash brawl. We need more of this, this looks amazing!
It was funny that you compared BlazBlue to Kingdom Hearts' story. As both a BB fan and a KH fan, I actually think they're similar brands of complicated. Especially since both series make sense if you go through them as intended, but are impossible to properly explain through conversation or a wiki read.
I played all KH in order, and they do not make sense without a bunch of research and changing the order, so idk what high you're on, KH fanbois be like...
this looks really cool and very complex with so many different ability/weapon combos and attack styles. Looks like you could sink tons of hours into this. I cant wait to play it on switch in 2 years
I love blazblue, there's so many characters that would be really cool. I wanted to say Arakune, but if he's a boss, then that's probably not likely. Iron Tager on the other hand seems like a pretty good call, super popular and seeing a grappler in an action game would be so dope. Azrael would be very cool too, he's just another character who was meant for brawling. Either way, I hope the game gets a nice sized roster, and it looks super fun!
How would they even have Tager work running around? They'd have to either give him a brand new running animation or do some really goofy walkcycles. Honestly Tager would work great as like a mid-game boss battle

The final blazblue game had 36 playable characters, so personally I hope that everyone eventually makes in appearance. Maybe even some new characters. I wonder how deeply the story connects the actual blaz lie canon or if it remains standalone. Looking forward to the game.
Looks like the game will have 30 characters total. I'd guess they'll skip similar characters, like Lambda vs Nu. Same as you though I'd love to see some characters we haven't had playable before.
as a big fan of rogue-like genre and the blazblue story and games! you have no idea how happy i was when i saw your video about a new blazblue game! *i was hit with all types of emotions just seeing the basic gameplay and when you added the evotype and potential system, i moaned, came, and got shivers and almost screamed my lunges out lmao* i would legit trade playing games like baldur's gate, armor core, zenless zone zero, viewfinder, ff16, immortals of aveum, etc. just to play this! disclaimer! so i did a bit of digging and uh... first of this is a really fun rogue like game and thats a fact! BUT this is not a blazblue game nor is the story connected to blazblue and its universe, long story short its a rogue like game that uses the blazblue characters as the playable characters and the real character of the game is the floating robot, i'd still play the he*l out of though, just scks that we'rent getting a new blazblue game story/lore wise

You asked for a wish list so here's a wish list. nine the phantom: a mage who uses elemental attacks which give her different elemental properties and she can combine the elemental properties to make new attacks. Celica: a normal girl who has a super strong robot with her at all times that basically does all the fighting for her. Celica's gimmick is that she can heal the robot and doing so recovers her healt. She is also nine's sister. Izanami: can use za warudo. Enough said. Amane: his gimmick is that he does a lot of damage to the enemy even if his attacks are blocked, so I have no idea what he would be like in entropy effect, but I want him in the game anyway. Kagura: a stance character. Azrael: attacking enemies gives them weak points. Attacking those weak points makes Azraels attacks more effective. Terumi: gains a lot more meter than other characters, so I don't know how he would work in entropy effect.
I'm down. Gotta get this ASAP. I hope they put Hazama in the game. Favorite BB character, can't imagine coming through a world with him, flying around on Uroboros chains.
I have very little experience with roguelikes, but always meant to fix that. Meanwhile, I have experience with Blazblue (albeit not much), so I am on the opposite end of you. Although I am a fan of BB, I had no idea that this game existed until I randomly got recommended this video. You are right in that it looks incredible. I sincerely wish this sort of game mode makes it into Blazblue proper. Having gotten to experience Street Fighter 6's world tour mode, the standard for what makes for acceptable levels of non-PVP content has been raised, and this would be just the thing to do so for Blazblue. As you said, this would make for a great bridge to BB for those who don't play them. Meanwhile, those are generally not as interested in or just want a break from fighting people can play this instead. I certainly would. Thank you very much for showing me this game.

Interestingly, Susanoo isn't a classic villain. He's a side villain that was more related to the backstory of BlazBlue. So it's great that the game explores him more.
I saw this was in development last year. Was hoping this was still going forward since the BB creator left arcsys. I hope the hands on they gave people gets it noticed and helps move the process along easier. Thanks for the coverage. Also the story is more complicated than kingdom hearts imo. It's deeper than guilty gear. lol

Theyve had a strong showing but Id really like to see Rachel, Valkenhyn, Amane, and Nine. Game looks gorgeous and as a Blazblue fan and a casual roguelite enjoyer this seems like the perfect game for me.
I like how the Potential system is character specific, while the Tactics are generalized, like you typically have in rogue-likes. I'm definitely going to check this out. I mainly played Bang and Hazama, so I'd like to see them included. However, I'm most interested in seeing how they would implement Carl.
DUUUUDE this looks AMAZING!!! I was just thinking its been awhile since I bought a new game. I had some games in my wishlist but this just jumped straight to the top. BB Chronophantasma was the game that introduced me to Anime Fighters (before that I had only played a lot of fighters like Injustice and Street Fighter, with the exception of Smash which was my favorite) and I fell in love with the faster movement and flashy anime style. I've also really gotten into the Rogue genres since Hades. So finding out about this is just so cool.👍

Im gonna be real, Entropy Effect is such a huge departure from the original games, BUT, we are still reusing character sprites... Just shows how well the sprites aged, and how much you can do reusing assets, this game looks awesome!
Literally been begging for a game like this for a long time. The only thing I wish is the enemy/Boss fights are abit to simple for such a fighting system. It would be cool if some enemies responded to your attacks like they would in a regular fighting game or platform fighter.
As someone who knows a good part of the Blazblue lore it is pretty close to KH levels of convoluted. The first 2 games to take place in a closed loops same with the last one two for a different reason. Most of the characters I like are in the game I’m just waiting for Es. I’m kinda surprised Arakune was a boss. Though I’m confused why they went with Lamda 11 instead of Mu 12. For those who don’t know BB Mu was the boss character in the first game who then died then they made Lamda so they don’t take away a character slot even if they brought back Mu later on

That's what i think most roguelikes lack: item/ability system that enhances your whole kit instead of one part. Think hades and ur whole build is special zeus shield, what you're using? Special ONLY, no charging shield for dmg, no throw (the ammo attack, forgot the name) and definitely no normal attacks, if you upgrade one thing, you only use that one thing. What i see in Blazblue EE is that upgrades instead of giving straight up power, they give you more options for combos and lets you get creative to find the optimal combo for current situation, it's great to see
Thus brings to mind Neon Echo mind loosely, enough to make me wonder if there's an actual connection. RIP NE, heard the devs got sacked. It looks pretty cool, curious how well it'll develop. For how ASW gave them the IP, they haven't promoted it much. In terms of characters, Bang Shishigami (a completely normal yet insanely manly Ninja. Some people are quick to say "why bother when there's complete games out"? My answer is "each new game can progress and refine the genre". I'll bring up Vampire Survivors (complete/old) and HoloCure (new/incomplete) with the latter having refinements. And that's just one newer game. Though big question is if we'll see this on consoles if all goes well. As someone familiar with BB. Hakuman is mainly defensive in nature in the fighting game, I suspect that translates to more emphasis on his parry mechanic
The artstyle remind me of the developer who created metroidvania/hell-bullet game with Touhou's character. I'm sorry, I forgot the dev's name, but their artstyle sure are unique in their own way.
I feel like there's gonna be DLC with a good chance those DLC will include characters from other ARCSYS fighting games and or crossover like P4U and maybe UnderNight, if it is, take my money

Man I just wanna go full on episode 2 Yoda as Jubei. Blazblue has never let me down before, I’m sure it’ll be great now. Honestly, yeah, it gets as bad as Kingdom Hearts. There are visual novel prequel spin-offs, there are supplementary guidebooks and mangas. Even the games themselves have side novels and lore dump videos built in to them. Multiple timelines. I don’t know how they kept it all straight.

Hibiki isn’t really a classic, he’s actually one of the newest characters on that roster in terms of series appearance and playability. But the rest of the roster seems interesting, I really hope we see Kagura at least once

I could be wrong, but from all the previews and people discussing it I don’t think this game’s story has like… almost anything to do with BB proper
Arakune is a boss, and I assume some other characters are gonna be used as bosses as well. Obvious examples being susanoo and izanami.
Honestly they could use some characters from alternative dark war as well, even some that never had the chance to show up on it.
I would LOVE to play as Nine The Phanton, Platinum the Trinity and Carl Clover! Hopefully they will eventually include them in the roster

game looks amazing. If you didnt enjoy fighting Arakune, dont worry, its a callback to fighting against him in the actual game.

Man I just wanna go full on episode 2 Yoda as Jubei. Blazblue has never let me down before, I’m sure it’ll be great now.
Honestly, yeah, it gets as bad as Kingdom Hearts. There are visual novel prequel spin-offs, there are supplementary guidebooks and mangas. Even the games themselves have side novels and lore dump videos built in to them. Multiple timelines. I don’t know how they kept it all straight.
My Main from Blazblue is locked as a boss at the moment and im hoping he'll become playable in the future (Susanoo)

I don't know how they pull it off but I would love to have Carl in the game but I would settle for Rachel as well
Hibiki isn’t really a classic, he’s actually one of the newest characters on that roster in terms of series appearance and playability. But the rest of the roster seems interesting, I really hope we see Kagura at least once

wow, this looks so flashy, the sheer flashiness makes me wanna try this!
It's also cool that they don't have to re-animate the characters because they're using sprites from the original game. Also, BlazBlue is more complicated than Kingdom Hearts.
