The Kholer Katun takes center stage and delivers a 2.2-gallon performance. The Katun is rated at 1.2 GPM from the factory. The rise of Katun to this level is covered in this presentation and in the presentations linked below. The performance of the faucet is restored to the best ever witnessed. This was done by removing the flow restrictor, which is located deep into the housing. In the video, Kofi walks viewers through the disassembly highlighting troublesome portions.
The gallon per minute (GPM) rating will be affected. After removing the restrictor, when the level is in the middle and opened to its maximum position, after 27 seconds, 1 gallon was measured, giving a GPM of 2.22.
Before you begin, check out the two videos below and earn your Masters on the Katun.
    Background:
The faucet did not function well from the beginning. It was installed after installing new plumbing. Debris in the pipe clogged the flow restrictor on first use, reducing the performance to a trickle. Guess how long this issue was suffered. I look forward to reading the answers in the comments.
    Tools:
    Allen Key - 3/32
Wrench with Socket 7/8 (deep socket preferable)
    Needle Nose Pliers
    Screw driver with flat head

HI there I have the Katun 3 hole bathroom faucet and am having the same issue with poor water flow.. Where would the restrictor be in that one? Model# K-T428 Thank you!

I could not find the Model KT428 parts manual. It appears the restrictor is located in the assembly connecting the hot and cold water to the spout.
There are strainers in the water inlet lines. These should be examined for blockage as well.

@@GoldenJudge Yes! You are right.. I drilled a tiny whole with the smallest drill bit through the strainers in each the hot and cold and now it flows beautifully!

Will removing the water flow restrictor mess up your pipes?

      Hi Celeste,
Removing the restrictor will not cause a problem with the pipes. You can expect years of reliable service without the restrictor. I have not had a problem with the faucet since removing the restrictor. The pipes are also in good shape, which means there is no knocking, leaks or the like.

No; it is the incoming pressure from the City going beyond 80 PSI and what controls that is a PRV.
