Nice! I want to get back out there asap. I usually launch out my float tube in that back area. Good luck when you get out there. Hope you find all the fish! Let us know how it goes.
It feels great to be back out there. It was a much needed vacation. Great fishing and relaxing. Have a few more videos I’m working on. We came back yesterday but already want to head back out. Hope all is well with you! Thanks for watching!
@ExploreNaturesCatch yes heading up there Monday, wife stilllll won't go lol plan to sleep in my car ,save money lol.glad ya'll are happy be safe and GOD bless man !
Good to see you guys back having good family fun again, in about half an hour my wife and I are leaving to go play a round of golf with my son and daughter in law, your video has inspired me to talk to him about planning a trip up to the Sierras to go fishing soon, we didn’t make it up there last year which is a shame, don’t want to make a habit out of that lol. Great video!
Thanks for watching. Definitely have that conversation about going up to the Sierra. I just got back yesterday and already want to head back out. Had a great time out there. Hope you will be able to make it out there this year. Let us know how it goes if you do!
To cute she's growing up and learning how to fish. Can't wait to get up there Friday the10th. We use to rent one of the rustic cabins at Fern Creek lodge on the June lake loop but it's been sold and converted to a Veterans retreat and no longer available to the public.
Yes indeed. She can semi reel in a fish with assistance. Your trip is almost here, exciting times. We just got back but I’m already ready to get back out there. It was nice staying in June lake loop for the first time. We usually get an Airbnb in mammoth. How long are you staying out there?
@@ExploreNaturesCatch We'll be fishing At first light Lone Pine Sand Trap Friday morning then work our way to Bishop hitting all the sand traps and maybe the lower Owens. I wont sign up for the derby I'll just fish. I'll prolly pass on the Pleasent Valley Death March.
Hi, i'ts been awhile. Hope you are doing well! Amelia was loving it out there, especially at the park. I'm glad we finally were able to get back out to the lake, we haven't fished since last year towards the end of the fishing season. Hope all is good with you!
Thanks for watching. It was a great time out there, lakes seem like they are fully stocked. Amelia had a lot of fun too. Excited for you, I want to go back already. We have a lot more videos to post too!
Wonderful to see you guys were up there again having fun and catching! We'll be heading up there at the end of June. Grant and Silver Lakes are really high yet, I was hoping they would be lower. We have been staying at Gull Lake Lodge for twenty years now, convenient location. For some extra flavor, finely crush up some nori sembei into a coarse flour, and bread your trout with that. You get a nice nutty flavor and the umami of the seaweed when you fry it. Good with either shoyu and lemon, or sweet chili sauce like you ate. Breading the trout with finely crushed Fritos is also really good. Can't wait to go back up, we fished Grant just a few yards from where you were, and the same spot on Silver Lake and caught a five pounder by the log. Hope to meet you guys one of these days..
It was a fun trip, we stayed from Saturday to Thursday. Yes the water was pretty high at all the lakes. I’m hoping to get back out there again soon. Im going to try the ground sembei next time. That’s usually my fishing snack so it sounds good. It was our first time staying at gull lake lodge, it was pretty nice. From the comments I’ve read, they recently remodeled it. Good luck when you get out there. Let us know how it goes. Hope to see you out there. Thanks for watching.
Love it! Looking forward to seeing more from you and the fam. I fished Silver Lake and it was the only place I got fish on my trip last week. It was full of mosquitoes too...bit up but worth not getting skunked.
Yeah it’s been awhile. We had a great time out there. Much needed relaxation and fishing action. Amelia definitely is getting big quick. She’s a handful right now too. Running around everywhere.
My dad died ten years ago. He bought me a 1962 garcia rod/reel that I still use. Remember driving to bridgeport/june lake in his porsche 356. Memories embedded that I pass on to my son. Nothing better than passing on sierra traditions.
Sorry for your loss as well. That’s awesome you still have that. Definitely cherish all the memories we have. I’m glad he got to spend time with Amelia for a couple years. ❤️
Great video again you guys! We were at Gull Lake for the Trout Opener and we stayed at the Gull Lake Lodge too on Friday afternoon to Saturday morning. I recognized the room you were in as soon as you started panning your camera around! LOL! It was really cold that Saturday morning, in the 20's! We fished from a pontoon from the Gull Lake Marina and trolled around the lake, catching and releasing 60 trout between 4 of us. We did keep 6 decent ones. My partner and I became Camp Hosts at Paradise Shores RV Camp at Bridgeport Reservoir. It is our first time in the Eastern Sierras and LOVE it! I've been watching your videos just to research on how to fish it. The day after the opener, on Sunday, I took my Hobie kayak out on the Reservoir and caught and released 20 decent trout, with the biggest coming in at 5lbs. Both days, we were trolling Character Lure spoons and they did great! Can't wait for your next video! If you book a stay at Paradise Shores RV Camp, maybe I will take you out on one of our Hobie Kayaks! Tight Lines, Bro!
Thanks for watching! That was our first time staying at gull lake lodge. Pretty convenient place to stay considering its steps away from the lake. We checked in at 3pm Saturday. Glad you had a lot of fishing action out there. All the lakes seemed pretty well stocked this opener. Love it out in this area, we try to make at least a few trips a year. Hope to see you out there one of these days. I just purchased a foldable kayak and tried it out while I was out there. Felt a little wobbly trying to fish but eventually got used to it.
Spent every summer at Gull Lake with our little girls who are both now married. Can’t wait to start new memories taking my new granddaughter fishing at gull lake.
Yes she is and getting hard to handle because she’s in the terrible twos stage 😆. Wish I could say the same, I want to get back there asap. Good luck when you are out there, let us know how it goes! How long are you staying for?
Great to see the beautiful fam and exposing Amelia to the best experiences and memories!! Dont boink bevause she will be a teenager before you know it (have 14 yo daughter and 26 yo son). Was up in the June Loop area last week and killed it in Gull (4-5 3-4lbers). Also went up ti Robinson Creek, Lundy, Bridgeport Res, upper Twin and finished at Crowley. Keep up the great content! Love it!
Thanks for watching. We had a great time out there. Amelia seems to like it too. It’s hard to keep her out of the water though. Especially when I have my waders on and she wants to follow me in. Wow you did great out there. Kristine caught a good one at Bridgeport reservoir. We also stopped by twin in Bridgeport and had non stop action. I already when to head back out there. We came back yesterday. What was your best bait for this trip?
At Gull we fished the reeds in waders and had the best luck with mini jigs (pink and white and grasshopper) on straight 4lb flouro. Caught a nice 3 lb cutthroat at Crowley (boat) using mini jigs as well. Noticed your furikake rice!! Japanese?
Good to see you back! Great choreography, story telling,lunch/dinner segments. Unfortunately, the marine corps has my son on back to back deployments this summer thru December so looks like this dad will have to wait a year. But it's good to see Amelia growing in height and cuteness.
Thank you, it's good to be back. It's been awhile since our last fishing trip which was last year. We've had a lot happen since then. My dad passed away in February so its been pretty rough lately, just trying to get back into the flow of things. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It will be worth the wait when your son gets back and you guys finally make that trip out there! I'm hoping we will be able to make another trip out there soon, especially during peak fall colors.
Good luck! There were lots of fish out there. We just got back but I'm ready to get back out there. Let us know how you do! Which lake are you going to fish first?
We’ll be hitting up the Mammoth Lakes - probably stop at Convict on the way up. Everything we do is on the fly from a float tube…it’s a ton of fun! I’m hoping to hit the Virginias but they’re frozen as of today…hopefully they’re thawed out by then!
Convict is usually our first stop too. We changed it up this time. Yeah hopefully Virginia is more thawed by the time you go up. I saw pictures of people ice fishing Virginia and Sabrina.

Got pretty frustrating at times. Bbq and fishing sounds good to me, appreciate you. I’ve been seeing that fishing has been pretty good at big bear too.
Appreciate you watching the videos. Which lakes did you fish? We pretty much fished the June lake loop, Bridgeport reservoir and twin lakes in Bridgeport. Stopped by convict for a little but it was too cold and windy for the little one. How did you do?
@@ExploreNaturesCatch we killed it! limited out at convict. then headed up to grant and silver. slower but better quality, more rewarding fish. out of 6 of us id say we caught 3 big ones 20+ incher. we had a blast. stopped by pleasant valley too and it was dead..
Dang we just got back. We weren’t able to fish Crowley this trip but next one for sure. Glad the stocking out in the area is in full force. How long are you out there for? I already want to head back.
@@ExploreNaturesCatch I was supposed to be there from Thursday night till Monday morning. The wind and sprinkles started Friday. Saturday was crazy. Too much for my party. A couple tents were blown away. Then the snow came in. We had to call it. I did get some great fishing done on Friday though. Gull and silverlake came through.
More fishing content on the way!
I'm getting excited now just a few more days and I'm gone! Been servicing the locomotive (My Chevy HD) rigging rods, things like that.
I'm going up there in a couple weeks. At Gull I usually fish at the other side of the lake at the big rocks.

It’s fun and relaxing with the float tube. I usually just double up on my sweats and socks depending on how cold it is. That is usually enough for me.
