We have modern DMU's as well. These are old locomotives and this is a video abt our train history. The models at the start are no longer in use. To brings a new DMU it costs more than 200000000 rupees. So I think a better option is for us to make the investment and design and manufacture our own trains which will be far cheaper than importing brand new trains. However our government is too corrupt to do these kind of things so we can only hope or the future and be thankful for what we have.

@@damianxavier7343 designing and making trains is impossible in our country.
Agriculture is the only thing our country has focused on for centuries. Only thing we know is to grow, sell and eat.
Industrialization, technology and manufacturing are not going to happen in the foreseeable future. We are centuries behind those countries.

@@RR-us2kp we have the engineers to do it. recently the Colombo dockyard built a massive ship for Japan. Then the Sri lankan company Vega made an electric supercar and they are releasing an electric three wheel next year. I am sure we can build a train. Also we can always partner with other companies who have a wealth of experience in trian building. The only thing we need is the investment, which is ofcourse something our politicians will never do.

Many Sri lankans still lacking of neat, clean & tidy culture. All trains engines & compartment should have a uniform color or two. When ever the government changed, colors of trains, buses too changed. Even if its different colors still very dirty both internally & externally.
