It's great to see him showcasing the plugins he uses. So many home recordists are obsessing over aliasing, red lights, plugin guis, higher samplerates etc and he's just using his ears and talent to get the job done to a high standard.
As someone pretty new to the craft, I appreciate hearing, seeing, and the how and why, some of the tools people in the industry use. Thank you for this.
One plugin that I've recently come to really like is Waves, Scheps Parallel Particles. Uses parallel type comp & can generate hi/lo harmonics, you can quickly tell if it's improving sound or not. Stupidly I always thought it looked a bit gimmicky - it's not!!!
I bought your Mix bus pack from JST. Like you said, im a metal guy who loves this stuff... Your electric guitar bus compressor has completely eliminated a Phazey Fizz frequency from my guitar tone that i was unaware that i even had... Now my guitars sit so much cleaner and nicer.. The collab between you and JST was a winner..
Great vid - thanks Wozza and Decker! It's great to hear someone with 19 no 1s say "if someone smarter than me has worked out how to use this thing, that's good enough for me" (or words to that effect...)
Hey Warren, I have a good idea for your next video, it is about when to use which guitar pickup, for example: Heavy Distorted Rhythm Parts, Harmonics, Solos, Clean parts etc etc
My favorite thing about Billy is that Avid Pro Control in front of him that he only uses for controlling his monitor volume, by his own admission. It’s mostly just there for looks. It’s otherwise all keyboard and mouse. And the guy mixes on humble Mackie 824s (although his 18” subwoofer is a spendy beast). His whole career is a poke in the eye to the analog GAS world. Long live Billy.
@@Producelikeapro wow I stand corrected. I thought by the plug-in choices and camera quality that it was an old vid brought back from the dead. He truly still loves his old waves tech. More power to him. It obviously works
@@Producelikeapro yeah. I was talking more about the plugins themselves rather than just the GUIs. Everything fabfilter, other plugins I can’t live without are cassette and Kramer tape

"Find the pain, reduce the gain." Gotta love Billy!!
Haha exactly!!

Thanks for sharing Paul!
Do what you do, and the phone'l keep ringin'.
Truest words ever.
Agreed 100%!
I love this guy - and a great first name.
Haha indeed
Hard to argue with success! Great video! I'll bet Billy is a lot of fun to hang out with!
He certainly is!
I like the Sonnox Inflator . I agree that, it`s an awesome Plugin and also the Klanghelm stuff !!!!!!
Marvellous! Both great!
Super scientific...I'm sold.
Marvellous
Love Billy! He's great. Dig the simplicity... even in the digital world use your ears man!
Exactly! Use your ears!!
Please consider making another course with Billy. Maybe him mixing a few (heavier) metal tracks perhaps? Hearing/watching him work is such a joy.
Great video, thank you, Billy and Warren. I definitely need to check out the Deck plugins.
Man, do it. The acoustic bus glue from Billy’s pack lives on EVERY acoustic track I create.
Let us know how you get on Marc!
Makes it look easy! Thanks guys!!
Yes! Indeed! He certainly does!

Don't be afraid to get to really know your plugins before you buy new ones too! That way you know what they're best at, as well as their limitations.
@@BrofUJu I appreciate the advice, thank you.
Thanks Keven! Yes, Billy has his way that works!
This was awesome and hilarious lol. Thanks!
Thanks ever so much Dylan!
Good little demo, really nice guy!

Omg I feel so encouraged now, knowing that when my mixes go in the red it just means they are alive and not dead roflmao!!!
Yes! Always best to mix with your ears not your eyes! Haha

if the lights not red - you´re mix is dead

@@andreirlmeier so funny!
This guy keeping it real, love it!
Thanks ever so much!
So, should we activate "Analog" button, or not?
I would suggest trying it for yourself
I’d say no, as it mostly just adds hiss- which isn’t the selling point I think they wanted!
What a nice and uplifting guy, love his energy :-)
Thanks! Yes, amazing guy!
That guys good, and funny!
Haha yes! He’s hilarious!!
What song is he using for this demo?
It’s a song from his course
I MISS my Digidesign Pro Control. I'm surprised that he's still using it!
absolutely L2 is a beast!!!
YT is def not the medium to convey the subtleties of that plug-in chain.
too bad, it really does work
Indeed, YT certainly has its limitations!
Nice shirt Billy!
Naissss
Thannnnnnnkkkkksss!

Only once: CLA Inflames clayman mix

He was DEFINITELY wrong here!
Welp now I gotta go find some more Billy Decker videos
What is this song ?
This must have been filmed quite a few years ago
It was filmed on Thursday in Nashville!

Metric Halo has one of the most cheap-looking UI (paid) on the market)
Don’t the analog buttons on the CLA-76 add saturation, not hiss?
I think (in the case of SSLComp) the analog button adds the hiss, not saturation. At least that's what I've figured out by doing the null test.
same for the cla76
Nah, just hiss basically. More of a tape hiss/background hum thing. They're old plugins so was manipulating the desk noise. I always leave it off.
circuit design adds saturation when you crank the compressor up. "analog" is just hiss.
Just crank your speaker (without playing the song) then turn the 50hz/60hz on/off. Kssssssss. Ksssssss kssssssss
