OMG!!! Teresa you just changed my life! Watching all your videos in order even though I have been stitching for 57years. You showing how to lift one strand of thread from the skein on Annie's Keepers is going to chang eeverything. I use plastic thread keepers with holes in them to hold 10 skeins and write the color numbers above each color of floss with permanent marker which isn't permanent (use acetone to wipe away marker after each project.) and of course the floss goes on with a "larkshead" hitch. I've always had to take each skein off the holder, pull a thread for stitching and put the rest back on the holder with the "larkshead" hitch. Very time consuming. Pulling one thread with the needle from the group without removing from the holder is going to be a life saver! Thank you so very much. I've watched a lot of tutorials over the years and no one has ever done that. Thank you times a milion! 💕🧵
Teresa I am new to full coverage and thank you for doing this series. I have been watching other flosstubes and not learned what I need to know. You are teaching me everything and I love that. I have been buying my charts and thread at the same time so I have some thread. I recently found Anne's Keepers and I love them. I bought my first HAED in May as a full kit including thread which I now know not to do. I have ordered the 18 count easy guide fabric so when that arrives I should have my thread ready and have watched the rest of this series. Teresa this is exactly what I have been looking for so thank you thank you, thank you. Now I need to go watch part four.

Whoa!! I've been stitching for a little while but I have to say you blew my mind when you just tugged out that one thread out of the whole skein on the Annie's Keepers. I had to stop the video and show my husband, I couldn't believe how easy that was!!!
We are never too knowledgeable not to learn new things or a refresher course with updated material. This is much generous of you and believe me I have learned things I never knew because I am self taught from many years ago.

Teresa, I am really enjoying these series that you are doing! Last year I made my own pattern of Stevie Nicks and I stitched it up. It was my first full coverage but definitely not my last. Loved your video, yet again,, Teresa! Great to see the comparison of few different storage systems in one video. Very informative. As I said before, you are one really good teacher: great personality, good looking, very pleasant voice, good experience, eager to share, that lovely accent I miss hearing so much away from UK. I started stitching just about 5-6years ago, and have gone through all the storage methods I made up myself and have ever found. I remember all the excitement after my first Orpington Hobby Craft cross stitch shopping turning into confusion, when I really had to start unravelling those flosses, and starting using them for real. Now I have made my own - different, individual storage system, out of snippets I have found and used. Works for me fine. Thanks for your video, Teresa! I've been stitching for over 40 years and have stored my floss on bobbins and it is a pain for sure. I'm in the process of switching to the ring method..which is like the plastic floss keeper..only I made mine with fancy card stock from Michael's and put them in color groups on a shower curtain ring. Works great..also with the wrinkled floss from the bobbins quickly pull it over a damp sponge and the wrinkles come right out. So glad to find out about gridded fabric..I have always stitched my grids for full coverage and now I can save a ton of time. Thank you. I am really enjoying your videos.

I was really confused about fabric size... 1 stitch 2 stitch... I have always worked on Aida (33 years!) and thought I would try a full coverage pattern and even weave my the first time for both! I have ordered the fabric (28ct), hasn't arrived yet... I'm thinking I ordered a way too big piece now, but that's ok, rather it be too big than not big enough! Would have liked to have known about your channel before I had ordered. I also learned a few things about the thread keepers... I have always been a baggie girl... I really appreciate your videos! Thank you for this video, Teresa. It seems like I have be a beginner forever. Nobody in my family or friends cross stitch. I bought a few small counted cross stitch kits and ended up quitting because I’d become so frustrated then I bought a few books and discovered some things on my own. However I always ended up quitting. One day I found the printed kits and purchased one. Surprise, surprise I finished it, a cute Kitty. I’ve tried the bobbin thread method then I found Annie’s thread thing which I like the best. I don’t have the patience for the bobbin thread method. You have truly inspired me! Keep up the good work. 👍 I’m working on a printed kit, “The Last Supper” using tent stitching of which I am familiar with from doing plastic canvas kits.
New Subbie. I’ve been stitching a little over a year now. Still finding flosstubers that I enjoy. Love your personality! Thank you for the fabric calculator ap suggestions. I have Xstitch but didn’t even know they had the XStitchCalc. As far as bobbins... I have the full set of DMC. Local store had them on sale for 35 cents (USD). So I went home with my crapload of floss, sat down and bobbinated them all. Took 2 days just binge watching Netflix - Call the Midwife. I do the same thing with each color that you do on the Annie’s Threadkeep, I take my hand to elbow length & poke it folded in half thru the hole on top of bobbin; then I do the slip knot, same as you. Then when I need a strand, it just slides out with a needle tug, same as you do with your threadkeeps. Off to watch more of your videos while I stitch 😊
Thank you for going back to the basics for everyone, I see others have made this comment, I've stitched forever, started with embroidery, not cross stitch and I think this series is lovely! I hated the look of that gridded fabric until I heard your explanation. I'm not sure I like the look any better now, but I appreciate it now! I had no idea there was an app to measure fabric -- and neither does my local shop because we still do it on paper with a calculator!! What does one do with the grid when framing? Isn't it a bit unattractive? You probably answer this question eventually....Ah ha! Et voila! They disappear! How lovely!! And good reminder about hand dyed threads!
OMGOODNESS I didn’t know you could just pull one thread off of the Annie’s Keepers!!! I use cards (for now) and I was taking the whole skein off and pulling off a thread and then putting the skein back on. And I thought that was pretty easy. Well I am glad I watched this! Thank you!!! 😀

Refreshing is always good! I am a return stitcher from the 80’s and that was stamped. Decided to try counted cross stitch. Things sure have changed! Learning alot with this series. Haven’t tried full coverage but I am tempted so I found these tutorials. I love the look of full coverage and have collected a couple patterns. Thank you!

Wow, I have been cross-stitching on and off for decades and I never realized I could just pick out one thread from those card organizers! I have been untying and retying so so much. That will save so much time.
I really love this in-depth series. I’m new to cross-stitching and have plans to start a HAED full-coverage project. But all the different supplies and things- it just all sort of gets lost for me and makes me feel really overwhelmed and i haven’t been started the project yet. So I have been researching how to start and came across these and they’ve been really helpful and informative for me.
I just bought my first HAED and this series has been a god send so far. I have a lot of experience stitching but I have never done a full coverage of this level before. It's intimidating but something I've wanted to do for a while. Thank you so much for this, it's so helpful.

Hi Teresa, another great video. I always pop my skein around the scented candle pot I keep on my desk, or pen pot and wind from there, it never fails. I bobbinate onto the plastic DMC holders but Annies Keeps are very appealing.

Thank you for showing the Pako organiser. I am really tempted by the version with needle cushions. I am with bobbins at the moment. They seem safer / neater to store with my kids around. I have also been given about a hundred floss away type bags by my neighbour and as they are not on key rings it is impossible to tell what there is. Bit of a nightmare though I am very grateful for all the beautiful colours. :) Your videos are fab! Thank you.

Thank you for the tip about how to unravel. I have been bobbinating since the beginning and doing this nearly two years. Never noticed that thas what caused some to tangle up on me others to not!
I was very curious about this craft--I have done some regular embroidery only--and I find this series so informative. Well done and such good attention to detail.
I can make suggestion for combining methods. Take your DMC, unravel it, fold it in half 3 times, cut the folds same as the end. Or for shorter thread cut both foled ends. I then fold in half and loop my thread around the bobbin. Pull 1 thread at a time or a 6 thread piece and loop that thru the hole.
I'm only part way into this video, and I'd already like to thank you for trying to cover all the details that some might not need, but that others do need. For some reason, watching the section on magic guide where you tell people not to be concerned about the lines made me think of the quilting marine's favorite line - remember, it's only fabric, and it's only thread. I guess that can apply to cross stitching too. Quilting is another hobby I've done some research on, but haven't actually gotten started on yet. And that lead to repairing vintage sewing machines. I've collected a couple of machines. One needs some work. I think my 82 year old Singer 128 might be functional without needing any work. I need to get around to trying it out. There's something about the fiber arts. I've learned some knitting basics, and am curious about spinning and weaving. All I've knitted, besides practice swatches, is a scarf and a couple of dish cloths.
I love this tutorial! I have also fallen in love with Annie’s keepers! Question though! For a project with say, 90 colors- how do you organize them for easy access when you stitch? I’m relatively like you, a chair and a stand- so no good place to really put them. Thank you!
Great video. I needed a refresher on the DMC. I had forgot the end to pull from. Also the info about The full coverage grid fabric. I have not done one yet. I’m afraid I will start and become frustrated with changing colors so often. Thank you again☺️
What a lovely series, Teresa! I'm working on my first HAED (and loving it), with 240 colours, and use a mix of systems. The 90 most used colours are on thread organizers like the Pako (but different brand) and the rest is on bobbins in boxes. So far that works for me.
Thank you for these series. I started stitching few months back and probably nowhere near ready to try full coverage i enjoy watching these, learning some tips and mayve one day ill be brave enough to try something big. I am such an unorganized person cant imagine having over 80dofferent colours 😬

Teresa, finally someone who has the patience to take a step by step in teaching the art of cross stitch. Can you indicate where you located the Annies Keepers. I am a bobbin winder who would love to convert. I love the way you break down the head down to make it very possible to do. A fantastic series.
You know on those pako organizers once I have them all on the card the symbols I mean, I take a piece of tape and go straight down the whole thing. Those way it’s is easier to pull in and out and I don’t have to worry about the glue not keeping them stuck to the cards and any of them falling off. Just a little helpful hint. Enjoy the stitching.

Refreshing is always good! I am a return stitcher from the 80’s and that was stamped. Decided to try counted cross stitch. Things sure have changed! Learning alot with this series. Haven’t tried full coverage but I am tempted so I found these tutorials. I love the look of full coverage and have collected a couple patterns. Thank you!

Wow, I have been cross-stitching on and off for decades and I never realized I could just pick out one thread from those card organizers! I have been untying and retying so so much. That will save so much time.

I really love this in-depth series. I’m new to cross-stitching and have plans to start a HAED full-coverage project. But all the different supplies and things- it just all sort of gets lost for me and makes me feel really overwhelmed and i haven’t been started the project yet. So I have been researching how to start and came across these and they’ve been really helpful and informative for me.
I just bought my first HAED and this series has been a god send so far. I have a lot of experience stitching but I have never done a full coverage of this level before. It's intimidating but something I've wanted to do for a while. Thank you so much for this, it's so helpful.

Hi Teresa, another great video. I always pop my skein around the scented candle pot I keep on my desk, or pen pot and wind from there, it never fails. I bobbinate onto the plastic DMC holders but Annies Keeps are very appealing.

Thank you for showing the Pako organiser. I am really tempted by the version with needle cushions. I am with bobbins at the moment. They seem safer / neater to store with my kids around. I have also been given about a hundred floss away type bags by my neighbour and as they are not on key rings it is impossible to tell what there is. Bit of a nightmare though I am very grateful for all the beautiful colours. :) Your videos are fab! Thank you.

I can make suggestion for combining methods. Take your DMC, unravel it, fold it in half 3 times, cut the folds same as the end. Or for shorter thread cut both foled ends. I then fold in half and loop my thread around the bobbin. Pull 1 thread at a time or a 6 thread piece and loop that thru the hole.
I'm only part way into this video, and I'd already like to thank you for trying to cover all the details that some might not need, but that others do need.
For some reason, watching the section on magic guide where you tell people not to be concerned about the lines made me think of the quilting marine's favorite line - remember, it's only fabric, and it's only thread. I guess that can apply to cross stitching too.
Quilting is another hobby I've done some research on, but haven't actually gotten started on yet. And that lead to repairing vintage sewing machines. I've collected a couple of machines. One needs some work. I think my 82 year old Singer 128 might be functional without needing any work. I need to get around to trying it out. There's something about the fiber arts. I've learned some knitting basics, and am curious about spinning and weaving. All I've knitted, besides practice swatches, is a scarf and a couple of dish cloths.

Great video. I needed a refresher on the DMC. I had forgot the end to pull from. Also the info about The full coverage grid fabric. I have not done one yet. I’m afraid I will start and become frustrated with changing colors so often. Thank you again☺️

I'm working on my first HAED (and loving it), with 240 colours, and use a mix of systems. The 90 most used colours are on thread organizers like the Pako (but different brand) and the rest is on bobbins in boxes. So far that works for me.

I’ve got card and I’ve got a hole punch and I’ve got a one inch punch. I’ve got binder rings. I figure I can make my own minders for now, to start.
Thanks for your videos. I've just been stitching for a few months and am learning so much. I have been marking with a dress makers pen my 10 x 10 blocks as haven't seen this here in South Africa, but will check on Amazon if I can purchase it.
You can also pick up a bottle of fray-chek. Then you run a thin line along the edge of fabric. I get mine at local box store or a sewing store.

I was just wondering on the subject of labelling, maybe it would be less time consuming to print the symbols on self adhesive paper…?

So floss left over from full coverage goes back to my main set of DMC and is added to my existing drops

You know on those pako organizers once I have them all on the card the symbols I mean, I take a piece of tape and go straight down the whole thing. Those way it’s is easier to pull in and out and I don’t have to worry about the glue not keeping them stuck to the cards and any of them falling off. Just a little helpful hint. Enjoy the stitching.
