(Please read the notes in the description to get a better understanding of what to expect in this logo history) What are your favorite idents from ABC?
I’m really glad that this video finally came out! ABC has some great idents, I can’t really decide which one is my favorite though, I guess my favorites are the 1963 color ident and the current ident that’s been used since 2021
I can't decide either. There's just so many that are equally brilliant. The 2021 ident is probably one of my favorite idents of this decade, because the animation is satisfying and not too simplified.
Welcome back Jonty! The wait was worth it, because this is one of the most well-compiled videos I've seen of ABC's idents! There are so many idents I've never seen before, so much so that I will only list the few that caught my eye.. 4:34, 5:12, 7:33, 8:51, 11:54, 17:01, 24:30, the closed circuit and slogan idents (I remember seeing 28:12 on the Smash TV Memorex video in 2015). My favourite idents from ABC are the 7th, 11th, 20th, 35th and 37th idents, although all of them are great anyways. I read the description and I'm sorry to hear that your dog Freddie passed away last year; I remember your idents for the Freddie Network from 2021. R.I.P. Freddie. I'm looking forward to your compilation of the logos and idents from 2023, and your logo history on ABC is a fantastic start to 2024! Happy New Year! :-) 👏
Thanks so much, Fabian. It's nice to see you again. Glad the wait was worth it for most people, including you. I had a lot of fun watching all the different idents from this great network. And yes, there are a lot of idents not included in other logo histories of ABC, and my favorite out of those you mentioned would probably be the Christmas ident from 1983 because of the wonderful animation. It's nice to hear you remember that Something's Happening slogan from 1988. The music is very catchy, and I love the CGI and the appearance of Winnie the Pooh. Let's talk about your picks for your faves, shall we? The 7th ident is a huge classic in the history of color television, with great animation from 60 years ago and some good color choices to show off. The 11th ident is an absolutely beautiful creation with wonderful music and wholesome situations enhanced with a neat chroma key effect. The 20th is very disco-like with a good use of rainbow colors. Very funky. The 35th is very nostalgic to those born in the 80s and those who've been part of the logo community for a long time, and very creative use of different celebrities, especially the Oscar variant where Tom Hanks points at the audience (which is probably my favorite, due to the perfect timing with the music). And finally, the 37th, with animation sort of ahead of its time for the late 90s, and awesome music to boot, introducing the 4-note jingle we all know and love. Thanks for sending your rest in peace to Freddie. He was a great dog and lived to be 10. Glad to hear you're looking forward to my "Logos from 2023" video. Let's hope 2024 will be a better year.
Oh, and one more thing. Those CGI Green Army Men bumpers are quite funny, aren't they? When I watched the premiere of this logo history with my mum, she thought it was freaky because imagine if you went into your room and saw a lot of toy soldiers marching around. I'd find it hilarious XD
You're welcome Jonty, and I definitely agree with your comments on the ABC idents. Those CGI idents with the Toy Story soldiers are hilarious indeed, especially the variant where they all topple down!! I'll have to show those idents to my brother Dylan soon!
The evolution of the ABC logo is interesting to see. The logo changed to the lowercase abc in a larger low case letter a in 1957. The call letters WABC in NY was originally assigned to the Atlantic Broadcasting Company. Because of network affiliation, WABC eventually became the call letters of CBS in NY. CBS retained WABC after being assigned WCBS. ABC, the American Broadcasting Company in NY operated as WJZ until 1953 when WJZ was finally assigned to ABC in Baltimore..
The Preceding Program Originally Telecast By ABC In New York Has Come To You By Special Video Recording. This Is ABC. The American Broadcasting Company (1953).
The Following Programs Will Not Be Seen Tonight So We May Bring You The Live Coverage Of The 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics Over Most Of These ABC Local Television Stations (1984).
_WOW!_ Great to see we finally get to see a new logo history from your channel after a whopping _FIVE MONTHS!_ Anyway, what can I say about ABC? Along with NBC, ABC is one of the greatest television networks of the United States, especially when it comes to their TV idents. Their visuals look pretty nice and colourful and their animations are fantastically done, such as: • the "color presentation" ident from the 1960s (8:29) • the ident with a sunrise-like concept from 1975 (17:41) • the colourful "We're the One!" campaign ident (20:12) • the "Still the One!" campaign ident from the late 1970s (21:05) • the 1990s ident (31:31) • the "Yellow" idents from the late 1990s, especially the "City" ident (39:08) Also, this must've been the hardest logo history you've ever worked on. Wow...
Thanks, Man! It certainly has been a long time since I've done a logo history, and I'm glad that I've taken time off to focus on more important real life affairs. ABC has one of the greatest idents I've seen. The 1960s ident you mentioned is a huge classic in color television history. The 1975 ident has brilliant special effects for 1975, and I love how enthusiastic the singers are XD The "Still the One!" idents are very good, and nice and uplifting. The 1990s idents are brilliant in their own rights, and the "Yellow" idents are ahead of their time, especially the city ident you mentioned. Stay tuned for future content :-D

@@JontyMaster Hello. Good afternoon. My name is Brian López. So, you forgot to do ABC Kids idents from the United States of America.
This Is ABC. The Following ABC Presentation Is Closed Captioned For The Deaf And Hearing Impaired (1984-1987).
14 minutes, around 1970 I assume, the groovy hippy era. You could imagine everyone in turtlenecks, flares and Black people saying shit like "You dig"
13:29 From Turn-On (1969), just about the most underappreciated "series" in history
LMAO yes. Ahead of its time, that's for sure.
I Love The ABC Still The One Ident From 1977 To 1978, 1979-1980, 1995 And 2002 To 2003.

Welcome back to making logo history jonty another awesome video i remember 2000 to present idents im from America
Welcome back, jontymaster!
ABC is not a very old network. Ozzie and Harriet was on in 1952.
The Yellow era, the Start Here era, and the Heroes era were the best, IMO.
don't forget about the red era! (2021-present)
The ABC app got a newer ident, with the black space shrinking into an ABC logo on a red background.
37:20 Sounds like the smurfs theme!
The American Broadcasting Company, ABC
Watched by more people than any other network, ABC
Your profile is cute ❤
I feel like their best idents are the 37th ones.

Yup definitely the best of the idents.
This was definitely worth the wait. Great job, Jonty.
