Love this video...and not just because my first name is Wesley!😂 I've studied the paranormal for decades and often thought that Susannah Wesley may have been the focus of the activity, as you also have alluded to. I really enjoy the fact you don't jump on the populist bandwagon but bring us stories from the path less trodden by paranormal enthusiasts. Great job my friend.👻👍

That was so interesting and deeply scary. I had some poltergeist activity as a young woman and know how extremely unsettling it is, even though it wasn't half as bad as this poor family. The footsteps towards Susanna must have been terrifying. Great video, photography and music as always. :)

Thank you so much! You have a wonderful voice for this work you do! I find your voice to be soothing and peaceful even when describing really scary hauntings! Thank you again!
I lived in a haunted rectory down in Kent, so can't wait to hear you!...Ok, listened now. Women have always been blamed, but being one myself, I can attest to seeing too many things along the way, and they always check out by name or past events. It wasn't her fault. And, it wasn't a very nice ghost, either!
@@eerieedinburgh quite a few things, indeed, not quite ready to share though, as so many have asked me to write as well. Hey..we're you at that Rectory? There would have been a lane down just a pinch to your left of the house, if you were looking at the front door. But it was very much more rural then..did you see evidence of that? If you think there had been at one time, then..it would be to the left, and wind around itself, if you turned right, onto it
Anyway, I believe he held secret meetings with a few other gentlemen inside, and they wished to not be discovered. I really always assumed it was because of reforming his own religious views, but watching your video, I now have to wonder if they were perhaps vestry, but really meeting in secret due to the political situation of the time. Anyway, they had to watch not to be discovered together, even in broad daylight. The creepy ghost? Who knows!! :)

Love the video and the story, but unless I've missed something, the theory that poltergeists are a result of emotional turmoil is usually connected with young people going through puberty, a state that Joanna Wesley was long past. Perhaps she felt all that was theorized, but one wonders what the teens in the house might have been going through.
Superb video that unveiled a new story I had not heard before. I loved your book; it now sits alongside the North Edinburgh Nightmares books in my collection, and your new book next year will be added when it's released.
Great story telling and especially compelling with the choice of music. I could also hear the footsteps behind me with my air pods… 😮 made the story even more rich. Oh and I can understand the frustration with praying for King George. I know it’s says, pray for your enemies, but people went thru a great deal in those days. Persecution was far more serious than we today can understand. It drove so many to America to start another life. My ancestors will attest to it.

Many thanks for this. I learned of this case many years ago and visited the place in the 70s. Of course, you only heard about the Methodist side of things and the haunting was played down in those days. Don't know if things have changed. Looking forward to the book.
As an *atheist,* myself, I have *no sympathy whatsoever* for the Wesleys. Evangelist christianity has always had a reputation of what many might label "killjoys", wanting to stop other people's enjoyment of simple pleasures. Another word for them is "wowsers".I was born into the methodist religion but never gave it much thought until one Wednesday in March, 1970(about two weeks ahead of my 15th birthday) while standing at General Assembly at my high school here in Australia, up on the verandah of the woodwork room(No.15) that served also as the dais for assemblies, some preacher stood there, uttering some garbage over the microphone, I came to the quiet realisation that *I didn't buy into any of the bullshit* that preacher was spewing out. I realised that, from that moment, I was an *atheist* and I have never looked back. I'm free of all that *bullshit!*
I wonder what the children in the household were experiencing in the way of emotional turmoil. It might have been one of them, and perhaps not their mother, who was unconsciously responsible the for poltergeist activity. Or it might have had some different and more enigmatic cause. In any case, thank you for the excellent video!
It's interesting to think Susanna Wesley was the cause of all those disturbances. If she was, then it could mean that on an unconscious level she had telekinetic abilities that were dormant until the time the Wesley family began living in the rectory. 🤔
I must admit i enjoyed this story about the Wesley Family and their well known sons. Borley Rectory has nothing on Epworth as far as a haunting goes imo
I feel like Susannah was the center, for sure. But maybe not the generation of it. Seems like her showdown, it just knew not to eff around and find out, and maybe felt her pain...losing that many kids and putting up w dad's choices. By the way, loving the book!
