I bought most of my audio gear from mid 1970's to early 1980's. I lived in NYC and the number of hifi shops was mind boggling. We had Tech Hifi, Harvey Sound, Great Sounds, Stereo Warehouse, Churchill Audio, Sounds Great, Crazy Eddie, Lafayette Electronics, Audio Graveyard, The Wiz and even E. J. Korvette's sold audio. One thing was that the sales staff didn't try to screw with you. They were talented and knowledgeable about their components and really tried to assist you in a smart, satisfying purchase. Sadly, those days are gone and caveat emptor has never been so relevant as in todays audio market (vintage or new), fuhgeddaboudit.

❤ beautiful collection. My heart leaped seeing the Kenwood KD 550 turntable. My wife told me not to give it up. She throws that at me, should have listened. 😢

For the nostalgics, as I am, is a fascinating world but in terms of timbre and sound performances these products are light years behind the current production, no question about it.

I was ahead of the curve about 25 years ago because I bought a lot of great, gorgeous, working vintage stereo equipment on eBay for much cheaper prices than today (even with shipping costs) from brands like Bang & Olufsen, Pioneer, Sansui, Akai, Sony, Technics, Denon, etc.
I bought a lot of wonderful receivers, amps, turntables, CD players, cassette decks, reel-to-reel decks, speakers, etc. that I still enjoy today.

I have a CR-2040 that a friend and I went through about 2.5 years ago. Found it under a bunch of junk in the basement of a deceased relative and was in rough shape. Looks and works perfect now. Such effortless power.

Would love to see a review of that Hafler DH-500. I have the P version powering my home theater subs. Very tight bass. It came from a local theater powering BIG Klipsch MWM subs. Mine needs some repairs, but it's almost too heavy to ship...

Lenny dude I love my Pioneer RT-707 over the 701 All Day! The RT-707 lets you listen to music all day with "Auto Reverse". Also the RT 707 has bright green arrows. Yeah I'd take a 701 if I did not have four Pioneer RT 707's. Just brought a Technics SL-QD33 Quartz Direct Drive Automatic Turntable and hoping to have Just Audio replace its old caps if you can. The Technics SL-QD33 Quartz Direct Drive Automatic Turntable is a good turntable with rotten caps. I'm thinning my heard by selling my Hitachi SR-2004. I don't have room for 9 receivers and all that goes with them. My Pioneer SX-1250 is taking its spot. Now I have EIGHT receivers, 3 turntables, 5 CD players, 10 cassette decks, 4 reel to reels, 8 audio expanders, and 4 EQ's. That's enough collecting for me!

Finding someone to work on most 40 year old equipment could be a channel of it's own.. Much of this vintage audio is hard to work on and many time's the parts are not made anymore..
McIntosh if you can afford it was designed to be repaired and why it holds it's value, do your research before dropping any money on old audio..

I would love to own these Klipsch KG I have the small Klipsch KG 1.5. They are so good. That is when Klipsch loudspeakers were designed, made wholly in the US under the control of the master himself Paul Klipsch according to his philosophy of well made locally, great sound and affordable. Not the mass produced, made for profit in China garbage and the uber expensive so called heritage line. Greed has won big time. Sad

How about we operate like a Business and lower the outrageous prices and get this great old audio equipment out to people who would love to own them and use them . Or if your still going to run a Audio Museum ,then charge people to see relics of the past.
