My Camaro Gets a Set of Viking Front Coilovers!!

- Hey, everybody, in this video you will see me install a set of bearing mounted, front coilovers from Viking and UMI performance with. These work with any 1993-2002 GM f-bodies. The reason I decided to switch from my current setup (Koni STRs and Strano lowering springs) is because of the poor ground ground clearance. With the Vikings being adjustable, I can set them to where I like and hopefully I have no further issues.
The process is pretty simple. It's simply a matter of removing the wheels, disconnecting the sway bar and upper ball joint/arm, replacing the shock and spring with the coilover, then reassembling. I did have one extra step in which I had to replace my old UMI upper a-arm mounts with their bearing mounted style.
The final result is great and I am ecstatic for the fine tuning of the suspension. Sadly, but thankfully, I have plenty of time to do that being here in Ohio is early winter.
Thanks so much for watching and PLEASE LIKE and SUBSCRIBE. I appreciate the support!

Nice pressure on that brake line. Lucky it didn't snap.
Nice job!
When your jacking up the front of the f body, and you want to do the entire front and not just a side (exactly how you did it in this video). Where do you put the jack? Thank you
I jacked it up by the k member. It can be a bit tricky to get to it with the air dam, but it's possible.
@@hillbillygarage1270 thank you
@@Bird-dl7xs no problem!
what are the rebound and compression settings on all 4 corners?
Wondering what the ride quality on these are?
Why did you decide to change out koni. I've been looking at them and the Vikings. But was leaning more towards koni because of price. Thanks in advance
Just ground clearance. Roads are bad where I live and I had scraping issues with my exhaust and torque arm crossover. With the coils I can raise it to wherever I want it. It had nothing to do with the quality. The konis were a great setup otherwise
I have the same setup but with tubular lower a arms with bearing mounts and get a lot of noise at low speeds. Are yours quiet ? Also, what springs are you running? Mine are 350lb
Did you need a coil over conversion kit or was it just like a swap of the regular shocks?
So, that ultimately depends on how you want to do it. I believe you can get front coilovers from them that have a threaded top stud and mount like your standard shock. Don't quote me on that though.
As for the bearing mount style, like I have, you can get a kit that mounts directly to the oem upper a-arm mounts. I opted to use UMIs fabricated upper a-arm mounts, which adds a pretty penny the overall cost, but was worth it in my scenario. UMI is extremely helpful, so I'd encourage you to reach out to them, just as I did. They really helped me out in determining what I needed.
The mounting for the lower a-arm is just the same as any other shock by the way. It's only the upper portion of the coilover that mounts differently than OEM.
Are you wanting to sell your old Koni/Strano setup? I’m interested
Yeah, I will be selling them whenever I get my rear coils ordered. Will likely be another month or two before that happens! They're in solid shape. Less than 500 miles on them.
Did u do the rear ?
Sure did! Took me a couple hours, maybe even less. Way faster than the fronts.
