Glad we’re honest, I knew we were just trying to pull potential out of our players and that’s what we did, this year needs to transfer our skills and see what we have!

I knew we would be this bad this season and said many times we needed this kind of record for picks and to get better which we really haven't done before

I don't think it's fair to say Poole was in a slump. It was clear Wes was playing him out of his normal position.
In Golden State he played on ball for all 4 years so it was confusing as to why you would switch his position and then wonder why he was struggling.
Looking back we now know it was his position that was causing the problem because as soon as the new coach changed it, he immediately improved. It didn't take long at all.
Seems like it was really a miss on how the roster was setup.
Glad it was fixed though and he is back to being the old JP! He really is a very talented player.

Looking at his stats from his last 10 games, after all these adjustments were made (and I agree that this was his best part of the season): He scored 23.1 points playing 36.6 minutes (not bad, but not amazing), shooting 43.9% from the field (far from amazing) and 35% for 3 (meh), giving out 8.4 assists (that is very good, I'm not gonna lie), but also turning the ball over 3.3 times. And still being the same liability of defense he was all season long.
Is that an improvement on the first half of the season? for sure. Is that good enough to be the number one player on the team, and to justify his max contract? Hell no.

@@catanace1741well if he lowered his 3PA, the efficiency will follow. If he attack the rim more instead of attempting 8 3ppg everything will change but the problem is if you actually watch the game you can see how tight their defense on him when he started to enter the restricted area. Considering his size it will be difficult for him, added to it is the lack of consistent and poor set of screen. Did you know that Wizards had a total of 600+ screen assist this season, 300+ of those are from the Center they traded. Wings have no help, most times he received 2-3 defenders but outside of him and Kispert. No one in this team is good at spacing. Poole come from GSW, did you know how their system works? It's easy to rely on stats but without context on the matter, you'll get lost. In 14 games Poole started as PG, their net rating improve from -11 to -5, not much but considering the lack of Center they had that's pretty much something. Imagine how good will he be if they actually build around him and get the players he needed and his teammates is happy seeing him achieving bigger things. Dude, you can't deny this team has poor chemistry. On top of that, his teammates shows envious on him by isolating him on offense. If you look at Post-ASB stat for Guards, Poole is doing good. He's averaging almost the same stat with Ant, with lesser FTA & more 3PA. He's doing so much better than Hali post-ASB but unlike of those 2, Poole is not the main option here. HE IS NOT. Watch the game and you'll know he's not their main guy, stop changing the narrative. Poole all season was never treated as their main guy here cause if they did, they'll not give up Gafford. They will not put him on a small lineup with no Center who they knew he needed on his offense.

@@catanace1741You have to take into account this is his first year on a new team, new coach, then another new coach who was added after they fired the previous coach, new strategies and new teammates. I don't think you're understand just how difficult that is. Take Damien Lillard. Last season he shot 46% from the field. You want to know how much he shot this year? 42%. Even lower then Poole. That's the lowest he has shot in years and you know Dame is a sniper.
It takes time to get used to new team so a drop in production is normal. Not to mention Golden State plays team ball with the offense running strictly through it's guards. The Wizards play anything BUT team ball.
Poole like most guards are rhythm shooters and it wasn't hard to see that for much of the season Poole didn't have the ball so he was totally out of rhythm.
Let's see what he does next year. Plus, they traded for him so they want him there.
Also the contract was what GS gave him based on that championship year. Agreed it's an overpay right now, but with all we know about Poole he'll continue to work his azz off to live up to it!

Character is awesome you ultimately want high character guys. However at some point talent evaluation has to play an important role in roster construction.

Where’s Tristan V’s exit interview? He showed up for the wiz more than half these crapshoots. WIZARDS PLEASE release Tyus Jones! Look for trades in the offseason. Kuzma to Miami for Jaime and Duncan Robinson to start.

In my mind, there will be no Jones, no Kuzma in 6 months. Then, another tank for 2025 draft + some more draft picks. We will not have more than 21 wins next year, and as Knicks still get a 11-30 pick and we need players more than the Knicks do. These guys know that, and we will stink again. No "rebuild" here, just a wipe the decks clean.

The people around Jordan really know what his work ethic is like and one more thing for the GM and head of operativos, is that Jones and Jordan cannot play together, and it is clear that Jordan is better than Jones and the team is better with Jordan like that. that if you bring Jones back it is better that you release Jordan and he should be in the place where he should be playing Pg. The person who knows the least about basketball saw the improvement and what was obvious from the beginning of the season was putting the ball in the hands of JP.

Poole be on your mind 24/7 because that’s all you talk about🤣 it’s a whole team out there smh.

    • @catanace1741
      @catanace1741 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

All formalities and pleasantries aside, there isn't a single person on the Wizards management who wouldn't LOVE to trade JP away. He was the biggest fail this season, and it wasn't even close. They would release him in an instance if the opportunity presented itself. However, they know that there is almost zero chance of that happening, as JP has one of the worst and least tradable contracts in the whole league, and no other team would be willing to take that contract from the Wizards.
As for who's better Poole or Jones - both are a huge liability on defense. Jones is way more responsible with the ball, and hardly ever makes play that make you go "WTF is he doing". JP on the other hand is a much more talented shooter and shot creator, but he's trying to make every play a highlight, and ends up leading the league in lowlights. Sometimes it seems like he makes one crazy shot, and comes to the conclusion that he's hot and this is the game he's going to show everyone that he's HIM, only to finish the game with 3/20 from the field and 6 turnovers.

I've stuck through some pretty awful teams, but this was the first season where the games were simply unwatchable. There was simply nothing to root for. The Jordan Poole trade was a mistake, I'm sure they are feeling fleeced over that one.

I’m not even a wizards fan but I really hope the Wizards get the 1st pick and get Alex Sarr, and then Sarr and Coulibaly can form a duo called The French Connection and the Wizards will be good again in another 2-4 years / whenever Poole is gone (I’m delusional).
