A lot of people on the internet recognize Ardbeg as the distillery providing the newmake for the Smokehead brand. This is a commercial brand from Ian Macleod Distillers who also own Glengoyne Distillery. I had the standard version and it needs time in the glass to open. You really can't judge it from a neckpour as it's all massive smoke what you get. Re-review it when you're halfway through the bottle

Just from Ben's description I got the impression that it was Ardbeg. Seriously thinking of picking up a bottle.
I wonder how that would compare with some Smoky Texas whiskeys like Balcones Brimstone or Andalusia Stryker?
