A lot of people on the internet recognize Ardbeg as the distillery providing the newmake for the Smokehead brand. This is a commercial brand from Ian Macleod Distillers who also own Glengoyne Distillery. I had the standard version and it needs time in the glass to open. You really can't judge it from a neckpour as it's all massive smoke what you get. Re-review it when you're halfway through the bottle

Just from Ben's description I got the impression that it was Ardbeg. Seriously thinking of picking up a bottle.
I wonder how that would compare with some Smoky Texas whiskeys like Balcones Brimstone or Andalusia Stryker?
The Smokehead Extra Rare is quite good, and I'm pretty sure it is an Ardbeg
The normal Smokehead is very good so this sherried version is a brilliant idea! Can’t wait to try it. Great review Ben! Prost from South Africa 😊🥃!!
