The waveform selection has a lot in common with the Behringer Neutron. I assume Behringer got it from somewhere else (they do seem to copy ideas!). I really like the ability to reach the in between combo waveforms. This is a good design idea and I expect to see more companies use it. There is always room for the usual way, but this idea is so simple and so powerful. This synth is on my radar. It sounds huge.
I knew!! I’ve waited a long, long time to understand how Steppinwolf did the Octave DETUNE trick in the intro to Magic Carpet Ride! A pre-released version of the Typhon. JohnKaye had all the back-door connections, didn’t he?
Lovely synth, very happy with mine. Is the triangle wave very weak or is it just me? I thought it was due to the nature of triangle waves, but I just heard the triangle on the new PWM Malevolent synth and it's really powerful. Great vids btw!
@DIV1NITAL Only to a point. The envelope would still reach the maximum level at the end of the attack phase, and sometimes you just want an Attack Decay envelope, or to use a low Sustain level after a long Decay, so you'd still be pushing the filter just as hard if you can't control the level going into it. The main knob is doing the work of two level knobs and a wave shape knob or two - effectively just one, because it's only changing the shape of one VCO, I guess. There has to be a limitation to what you can do, like that... which makes me wonder if they've provided some other way to adjust the total mixed level of the VCOs, maybe in the menu.
@DIV1NITAL Thanks. It sounds like it might be, or might be just a CC control. Scratch what I said ealier about the envelope though. It goes VCOs -> mix -> filter -> VCA and the envelopes control the filter and VCA, so either way, the level going into the filter isn't affected by Sustain,
Welllll... a sine isn’t affected by a filter (except in amplitude), so with a sine wave, your filter is useless. So, if you want a sine, you can attenuate the high frequencies of a triangle (or any waveform, really) and make a sine!
do you think you might ever get around do finding a Dreadbox "TELEPATHY BUNDLE" AND DOING YOUR SUPER OVER THE TOP TUTORIAL BREAKDOWNS????? ...IT'S THE CLOSEST THING TO AN ACTUAL OBERHEIM S.E.M. [as far as voicing's concerned! and a NYMPHES tOO!!!
Typhon is the perfect basis for developing a powerful polyphonic synth. Hi, Dreadbox...
I sure hope a series on nymphes is coming! Thank you for these tutorials.
I’ll probably see Dreadbox at NAMM… we’ll see!
Thank you for this great series. I'll meticulously go through each one.
Dude those sounds at the beginning. ❤️
Really like the way you are explaining this! Thank You! 😁🙏👊

Thank you for this, Marc.
sounds good

Nice intro tune! A bit different for you. I would guess the Typhon pushed you in another direction, and that's awesome.
Is it possible to control the level going into the filter?

@DIV1NITAL Thanks. Yes, that does seem odd. I'll have a look at the manual, but I'm not entirely sure if it's up to date.

@@automaticgainsay thanks, that’s clear!
Can you create following this path a nice sub bass with the typhon?@@automaticgainsay
